TBT: (Often it’s not faith they’re strugling with as much as pain and hurt)
Popa agrees with TBT.
Me too. I believe it’s a form of anxiety that the mind resorts to in order to cover up pain and hurt. Try the CD program Attacking Anxiety and Depression.
msseekerMemberif i cud tell that someone is boy, am i allowoed to compliment there writing?
Perhaps there’s no halacha against it, but it doesn’t sound right. BTW, I held back from commenting about it, but since you brought up the question of tznius, may I suggest you change your screen name? It can conjure up an image that’s not exactly conductive to ?????.
msseekerMemberHuge difference. True, but I think ???? ?? ?????? ??? ????? ?? ??? ????? ????? applies here.
msseekerMemberI made a decision to think b4 posting (and check b4 sending) whether my post conforms to the demands of tznius, just like when speaking to the opposite gender. Thanks, OP, for the inspiration.
msseekerMemberSorry, folks, my post makes no sense now that it was edited (no idea why).
edited.
Your other post was edited because, although it’s fine for you to express your opinion about general behavior in the CR, it’s not fine for you to single out and criticize specific other posters as not conforming to your opinion.
msseekerMemberWritng directly to a poster of the opposite gender, joking for no practical purpose, discussing physical appearance, and adding “lol” for good measure. ???? ????? ??? ??????? ?? ???? ?????.

msseekerMemberOP, you made me think. It’s been bothering me for a while. I suggest a new rule: No direct discussion between genders. Say “Prince” and “Princess” (fictitious screen names) start a conversation within a thread, addressing each other by their screen names or joking around. That would be akin to pen-palling. The mods would have to stop it.
That wouldn’t solve the problem, though, of a married poster thinking, why can’t my wife be smart and good-natured like eclipse? Or, why doesn’t my husband have Poppa’s sense of humor? (Of course we can never know how posters act IRL, but it’s human nature to form impressions and draw conclusions.)
Bottom line, we should limit CR to informative and serious discussion to help each other, not to impress each other, especially those who happen to be of the opposite gender. Joking and chattering should be allowed only in male-only or female-only threads.
msseekerMemberLOL (really). gr8 humor.
msseekerMemberThanks, mod. Whoda thunk?
msseekerMemberI’d rather eat thick matzah than thin cardboard but ?? ??? ???? ??? ???????. Satmar Willi for me – ??? ?? ???.
msseekerMemberIn taste: Satmar willi, but it’s thick.
msseekerMembernot telling, it was the same by me. I got rid of it in 2 DAYS just by thinking the right thoughts (“Mind, get off my TMJ”) and IGNORING it (opening my mouth, chewing, talking as much as I wanted). PLEASE give it a try. I hate to see people suffer when they could be helped so easily for FREE.
msseekerMembermsseeker- But I dont think Im stressed..
That’s exactly it. Your mind can’t or won’t deal with your stress, so it’s fardreying you a kop with your TMJ. Read it, it’s worthwhile, for any chronic pain, even CFS.
msseekerMemberIt’s only from stress and can be controlled with the mind. Read Dr. Sarno’s books. It got me rid of my SEVERE TMJ for $0.
msseekerMemberMe too (raising my left hand).
That’s 7 lefties in the CR so far. In the general population, 1 in 7 people is a lefty. I wonder if we CRers have a higher rate. That should say something.
“You know that left handed in Latin is sinister.”
And in English it means some pretty nasty things too: liberal, socialist, communist, religiously modern…
msseekerMemberEsther, leave that community. ??? ??? is very important. To live so lavishly in these difficult times when our brothers are struggling to put bread on the table is selfish and insane. (As a bonus, you’ll get a good seat on Purim.)
msseekerMemberThe old Yiddish joke obout redundancies is supposed to go like this:
Good Yom Tov
Mayim Acharonim Vasser
Ungarishe narunim
msseekerMemberAries, GAMARNU. Esther admitted that she was wrong. Were you ever big enough to do that? Not in the CR, IIRC. Right now you sound to us more wrong than Esther. WILL YOU LEAVE HER ALONE?!
Esther, you said, “Older people demand respect, but that respect has to be EARNED.” Not true. They “earned” their respect by virtue of ???? ???? ????, ????? ??? ???, much like parents, whether you like them or not. An elder who earned his respect, i. e. a talmid chochom, must be doubly respected.
msseekerMemberEM, thanks for enlightening us and helping us be you ?? ??? ????. Don’t eat yourself up over this. You sound like a good person who made a mistake, like most of us here. You can explain it to your daughter, and even maybe apologize to the woman if you know who she is. I’ll bet she’ll feel bad and apologize to you and you can all put it behind you.
msseekerMemberAnd you’re saying ALL adults tend to disregard a teen’s opinion thinking that he’s the adult and a teen doesn’t know anything? C’mon, grow up. You know very well I didn’t write, imply, or mean ALL teens. In fact I do know some sweet, derech eretzdik, appreciative teens.
Oh, and it’s not pleasant? How pleasant do you think it is to live with teens who won’t admit that adults know a thing or two? Notice I didn’t say ALL of them this time either; I’ve long outgrown my youthful tendency for overgeneralization. Some, like Observanteen, do appreciate our experience and hindsight vision, as the saying goes ??? ??? ???? ??????.
msseekerMemberListen, motek, you were never an adult raising a teen in today’s terrible world. We know how preachy and condenscending we sound to you b/c we were once teens, but you have no idea how arrogant, foolish and downright obnoxious teens sometimes sound to adults. You cannot imagine what it means for a parent to have raised a child, suffering through sleepless nights, temper tantrums, school issues, etc. etc. etc., only to have her turn into a thankless, chutzpadik teen who denigrates the parent in front of the impressionable younger kids, effectively ruining the atmosphere in the home, while raising her friends on pedestals. Same goes for teachers, to a much lesser extent. So just go back to ??? ?? ???? ??? ???, ???? ????, ????, ???? ??? ????? ????, and all the other nice things we adults have taught you, and… (can’t resist this one) someday you’ll thank me.
msseekerMemberI also complimented you but it was deleted by the mods, probably b/c it was uncomplimentary of others, to put it mildly. Anyway, good job.
msseekerMemberTeens were never adults but adults were already teens. This should settle it. We know what it means to be a teen, we know how smart, wise and clever we were, and we’re still telling you we’re much wiser and smarter now, warts & all. If you can’t accept it, well… this just goes to show how much you still have to learn from us adults.
msseekerMember“I think EVERY movement in the frum world puts Torah above all. Modern Orthodox, Benai Akiva etc.”
I’ll believe you when the Satmar Rov zt”l is admired in those circles more than ?????? Hertzel.
“I also wonder if one of the reasons why we have a shidduch crisis might be attributed to the fact Boys & Girls put to much emphasis on the chetzones and not on the pinemeas?”
Yes. ??? ??? ???? ????? ??? ???? ?’ ??? ?????. 😉
msseekerMember“Satmar Rebbe said in his Hakdama to Vayoel Moshe that the sin of Zionism caused the Holocaust.
The Chazon Ish, R’ Henkin said it was because the Jews were violating the Oaths, which one of them was “that Klall Yisroel would not take control of Eretz Yisroel during golus”.
R’ Elchonon Wasserman Hy”d said it right in ther beginning of the tzoros. See his Ikvesa Dimshicha.
R’ Miller tells how he witnessed massive chilul Shabbos in Kovna.
msseekerMemberSegula for anything: Say kapitel ?”?, ?? ???? ???? on ????? ???? (I guess shabbos this year) and then ask for whatever you need ????? ????? ?????. (heard at a drasha.)
msseekerMember“just cuz its natural doesnt mean there are no exceptions.”
And b/c it’s an exception the pain and shame is so deep. With e/1 singing the praises of the yiddishe mama, a child who is hated by his mother thinks he’s the only unlucky one in the world. In truth there are many, MANY “yiddishe mamas” (mostly with Borderline Personality Disorder) who hate their kids and often single out one child for devastating abuse. Still, it’s an exception. Most parents do love their kids.
msseekerMemberSome threads are great, inspiring and informative, others are really shtusy.
msseekerMemberCorrection:
NK aims to enlighten the Arabs that Zionism does not equal JUDAISM.
msseekerMemberThat Arab storekeeper is one of the ????? ????? ????? and should be publicly honored (unless this would endanger his life). What does Hamas have to do with it?
NK aims to enlighten the Arabs that Zionism does not equal Zionism, that in fact these two are diametrically opposed, and that real frum Jews are (or should be) anti-Zionists. It seems they have achieved their goal to some extent, possibly saving lives as a DIRECT result of their efforts. (While I vehemently disagree with their means, I’m all for their aim.)
msseekerMember600, your info is correct. Just a side note: I’ve heard several stories (from non-NK sources, presumably true) of frum Jews who got stuck in hostile Arab villages and saved their skins by claiming to be of MH’s people. One story happened in Belgium where some scary Arabs were harrassing Jews. One of them, a visibly frum one, started running and the Arab said, “Don’t be afraid, we know you religious Jews are against Zionism.”
So NK might have saved some lives or limbs. As tbt said above, ??????? ???? ?? ??? ????…
msseekerMemberThe answer is lengthy and controversial. And I don’t exactly have the time and patience to engage in endless arguments that serve no practical purpose. The zionists won’t do what I believe they’re supposed to do. All we can do is, daven that Hashem show them the right path as in fact many of them did, such as Rav Tal.
BTW, Veyoel Moshe is not “some book”. It’s the bible of anti-zionism which has turned many a Mizrachist into a staunch follower of the Satmar Rav. If you haven’t read at least parts of it, or a similar sefer like ??? ???? ??????, please don’t argue about religious Zionism.
msseekerMemberJewishness: I didn’t call religious Zionism worse than secular Zionism. I said IMHO it’s a bigger PROBLEM. Why? Because they should know better than to go along with the secular Zionists. And the aproving chareidim are an even bigger problem because they should know even better than to go along with the religious Zionists. How do you think H’ feels when we gloat over the victories of those who hate him? ??? ?????? ?’ ???? ???????? ?????? ????? ???? ?????? ??????? ??? ??.
Your first question I won’t respond to here, since the answer is purely rhetorical. You can check out Netruna (TrueTorahJews) for info, or the classical seforim like V’Yoel Moshe.
BTW I did not appreciate your attacking tone.
msseekerMemberI thought it’s “v’lo ra’ayosi”!
msseekerMemberI spoke to ??? ?????, as I assumed you were speaking for ??? ?????, and I meant moral support. The problem today is IMHO not so much secular Zionism as religious Zionism; even worse is the tacit approval of supposedly non-Zionists. The Zionists, both secular and religious, are mostly tinokos shenishbu. Those Mizrachi settlers nebach think they’re moser nefesh for the greatest mitzva (much like NK), but the yeshivishe and chassidishe oilom should know better. Every time a yid rejoices in his heart over a Zionist victory, he rejoices over a ????? ????. Hashem was ??? ???? ?? ???? ??? ????? in order to spare ??? ?????but those fools do the opposite. Where’s the heter to spill Jewish blood for the sake of the land, or even the kosel? We should educate our misled brothers instead of going along with their foolish martyrdom. I write this with the greatest pain for the innocent korbanos of this insanity Hy”d. May we never hear of such tragedies again.
msseekerMemberTrue, but this is no reason for us to be ?? ??? ????. At least they have good intentions, unlike many true reshaim whom nobody on the internet would dare to besmirch as they do the NK.
msseekerMember“Now that I know all about the evil Secular Zionists etc., what should I do?”
Stop supporting this ????? ?? ?????. Stop celebrating the military victories of these ????? that are a thorn in H’s eyes. (Yes, I know there are many religious soldiers, but the army in general is a nest of sin.) Of course we need to focus on our own shortcomings too, but when the cause-&-effect are so obvious, we don’t go looking for indirect causes like lashon hara or kibud av vaem.
Someone died in an accident while driving on Shabbos, and the Steipler (or chazon ish?) said it was b/c of Shabbos. When asked how he knows, many people are ???? ??? and dont die, he said, “If the torah says ?????? ??? ???? the cause is obvious. We dont go looking for other causes.”
If a smoker has lung cancer, nobody says it’s b/c he didnt exercise enough.
msseekerMember“Whatever opinion one has about them, they’re not so naive as to think the palestinian terrorists will stop their murderous actions due to the expressions of solidarity for their cause by the Naturei Karta.”
Well, I know a few of them and I tell you they ARE that naive. (Please note, naive is a euphemism for stupid, but I didn’t say anything.) They suffer a lot for it, and they’re sure they’re moser nefesh for the greatest thing. The Arabs can be very charming and manipulative, and the NK members are just taken by their (false) warmth and friendliness. Look at the pics of A-jad and Bin Laden ym”s. Don’t they look like warm, gentle souls, much as Stalin ym”s did?
msseekerMembermsseekerMemberThose who lecture teachers about jumping to conclusions, yet themselves jumped to a negative conclusion about Fife Un’s teacher not responding, remind me of Obama.
msseekerMemberYou may be surprised to find that IRL most NK members, even the fringe members, are gentle and softspoken people who wouldn’t hurt a fly. They’re extremely naive and tmimusdig and are really convinced they’re doing the right thing. And when Arabs come up to them and tell them, “I was ready to blow myself up in Israel but you convinced me that not all Jews are Zionists,” do you blame them for believing in their cause? To the best of my knowledge they’re included in ??? and we’re mechuyav to judge them favorably, even if we vehemently disagree with them (which I do).
msseekerMemberRead their website by the same name. Better yet, read Netruna (True Torah Jews against Zionism) to understand the difference between mainstream anti-Zionists and NK.
msseekerMemberI’ll bet he doesn’t know exactly what “nothing doing” means and just tried to impress you with his English.
msseekerMemberDid he say “plony sends regards” or “regards from plony”? in yiddish, when you have seen a mutual aquaintance, you might say the latter (? ???? ??? ?????) which means simply “oh, I saw plony the other day.”
msseekerMemberDo you have any idea about the severity of one aveira b’meizid? One chilul shabbos r”l?
?? ??? ???? ????
.??? ????”? ???? ???? ??????? ?????
msseekerMemberpopa is not propa.
msseekerMemberDon’t get me wrong, I’m all for chassidus, but davka our strengths can become stumbling blocks for BTs.
msseekerMemberGedolim or sports heros? ??? ??? ?????
March 6, 2011 4:03 pm at 4:03 pm in reply to: Women & Girls Out There: I Really, Really Need Your Help!!!! #747816msseekerMemberEveryone should read Smile66’s comment. Tznius is like tzedaka. Chazal say if a person says, “I’ll give this tzedaka so that my son should live”, he has done a complete mitzva, even though he has an ulterior motive. Why? Because the poor will benefit just the same. Same here. Even if you’re not really up to wearing the tznius levush, if you do so anyway, the men around you will benefit just as if you were. The purpose is served and your zechus is complete.
msseekerMemberNo, Bezalel. Chritians killed Jews. Jews didn’t kill Christians. Learn your history.
