Did anyone else notice SBH’s beautiful respect for his parents, how he phrased his father’s “decline in ?????”? This is no accident, my friends. Respectful behavior begets respect, ?????? ????.

December 21, 2010 5:09 pm at 5:09 pm in reply to: The classics, Yidden, and the recent closed thread #719355msseekerMemberUNFILTERED internet, tzippi. And they don’t HAVE to give it all up for a shidduch, neither will they, which is why this “intermarriage” idea is brilliant but impractical. That was my point. Sorry it came out sounding bigoted to some people. Critical, judgmental, perhaps. But bigoted? I don’t think so.
December 21, 2010 4:43 pm at 4:43 pm in reply to: The classics, Yidden, and the recent closed thread #719350msseekerMemberOh my goodness, Popa, what do you mean? Bigoted against whom? I really don’t think Litvishe girls will, or should, give up their lifestyle for average or “baggaged” chassidishe boys. Do I respect their clothing etc.? Absolutely not. Do I respect them as yiddishe techter, bnos melochim? Absolutely yes. I’m in awe of the ahavas hatorah, openness, ehrlichkeit and brains in the Litvishe world, but in tznius and kedusha there’s unfortunately much to be desired. If this is called bigotry, so be it. If I offended anyone, I apologize. If I only made a liberal angry by saying the truth, I don’t.

And the scariest part is that we’re talking about their BEST BOYS. And this steep price for what? So that he’ll choose the best wife over the thinnest and prettiest? Fat chance (pun intended).

Understatement of the year. The difference is HUGE. Can you imagine a good chassidishe boy talking “grob” about sizes and looks like the litvishe bnei torah here?

Most chassidim dont expect fireworks to go off the minute they marry the person. At the same time by sheva brochos 5, you want to FEEL something. And we do. B/C this is human nature.
December 20, 2010 4:42 pm at 4:42 pm in reply to: A Radical Solution to the Shidduch Crisis? #719396msseekerMemberEclipse, I’m amazed at your astuteness. It’s rare for an outsider to grasp the “insides” of Chassidus and Chassidim with such clarity.
msseekerMember“I think Ill go the way of MOQ.”
Like I did. I told you you’re next!
msseekerMemberEclipse, I did not mean you ch”v and I did not mean davka this comment from WIY. For you I have nothing but empathy and gratefulness for sharing your insight. I meant the general attitude here and on every other Orthodox website I know.

December 9, 2010 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm in reply to: Shaitle Fraud Chillul Hashem Video: Sha'ar haTumah haChamishim #718017msseekerMemberArc, thanks for your free psychoanalysis and for reminding me why it’s such a waste of time to post anything here. I was comparing Wolf’s NAIVETTE to that of German Jewry in 1937, not the events of course. Get that? Wolf doesn’t realize that an anti-frum show (or book etc.) will sell like hot bagels, no matter the content, quality, or integrity, and I expressed my hopes that his naivette doesn’t evaporate by seeing this “court case” turn into a blockbuster ch”v.
December 9, 2010 5:28 pm at 5:28 pm in reply to: Shaitle Fraud Chillul Hashem Video: Sha'ar haTumah haChamishim #718006msseekerMemberNo, I wasn’t trying to insult you ch”v. You’re as naive as the German Jews in 1937. I hope you won’t be disabused of your naivette in a nasty way.
December 9, 2010 5:00 pm at 5:00 pm in reply to: Shaitle Fraud Chillul Hashem Video: Sha'ar haTumah haChamishim #717999msseekerMemberWolf, you’re probably wrong – and unbelievably naive.

So be it. I did my part. They have their choice. And you have yours. The primitive Yemenites were also disbelieved when they cried for their children, but 17 years later, when draft notices were received for all the “dead” children, they were finally believed. When Hadassah denied all charges of ?????? ???? they were believed until Lt. Meyer Birnbaum sneaked into their morgue and snapped those dreadful photos seen in his book. I wonder when the truth of this horror will surface, but surface it will.
December 6, 2010 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714912msseekerMember“A child doesn’t get bruised and bitten and then dies from thin air.”
Who said he was bruised and bitten? Did you see the child yourself? Do you really believe the doctors, who obviously tried to wiggle out of a malpractice suit? Are you that naive? Those same docs could have stolen your grandmother’s heart, lung, liver etc. in the 70’s. That wonderful hospital could have sold your Yemenite neighbor’s child to an Italian couple in ’48. Even if you saw pictures of the Vales child, they could easily be doctored (pun intended). They certainly did that with the video of Yenty “disconnecting” the feeding tube, as reported by Aharon Klein on Kol Haolam.
“If the “zionists” really wanted to cripple Charedi society in Israel, they would just pull all government subsidies and let them wallow in their poverty.”
This family does not take a shekel from the government. The doctors didn’t do it because she is chareidi per se. The did it because they were petrified of a malpractice suit. Still, I doubt they would perpetrate such a hoax on a non-chareidi. They could easily dump their unspeakable crime on Yenty, knowing they could count on the full support of people like you.
For the last time: IF YENTY IS MENTALLY ILL, WHY WAS SHE ARRESTED IN HER FIFTH MONTH IN A CELL WITH AN ARAB WOMAN, FECES-COVERED WALLS, AND NO MATTRESS? WHY WAS THE FOOD HER MOTHER SENT HER DUMPED IN THE TRASH BEFORE HER EYES? Is this the way to treat a mentally ill woman? Doesn’t something seem fishy to you?
They did all that to break her. All they wanted was for Yenty to admit to her “crime” so they could wash their hands of theirs. They constantly threatened her, KGB fashion, that if she won’t admit, she’ll never see her children, she’ll remain arrested forever, etc. etc. They did it to Vales too till he broke down. Yenty held her own for the sake of her children, but thanks to people like you the doctors won.
Now again for the last time: HOW CAN THOSE HEROIC DOCTORS TRUST THIS MENTALLY ILL WOMAN WITH A TINY BABY? What if she starves him, kills him, chokes him while nursing him? Horrors!!! You know why? Because they have already achieved their goal. You all believe them with ????? ????? in spite of all their tactical errors and cruel behavior.
If her name had been Rubashkin you’d be up in arms.
December 6, 2010 12:14 am at 12:14 am in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714899msseekerMemberDr. Hall, I’m not a doctor. I reported what I read on M.A.M.A. and ?????? ???? ???. If it does exist, Yenty is certainly not suffering from it. She was a popular girl, a happy wife and mother, and visibly loved by her children who jumped on her when they saw her and cried when she left.
December 6, 2010 12:02 am at 12:02 am in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714898msseekerMember“Recall that the baby had a miraculous recovery as soon as he was taken away from his mother.”
The baby had a miraculous recovery as soon as the scared doctors, found out by the “starving” mother, stopped their experiments. Yeah, as soon as she found out her toddler was receiving the strongest anti-cancer chemo recomended as a last resort for adults only, the kids recovered. Miraculously. He’s now an adorable, healthy 4 year old but his mother is not privileged to see him. At least he’s being raised by his aunt, not like the Yemenite children who were sold to childless couples, often goyim.
December 5, 2010 11:58 pm at 11:58 pm in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714897msseekerMemberAgain, if the social services are so concerned about her kids being abused by her, how can they trust her with this baby?
Again, why isn’t she allowed to see the top specialist in Europe in this field? Have they no heart?
Again,if she is mentally ill, why was she incarcerated in a most cruel fashion in her fifth month of pregnancy?
Answer: They just wanted to shut her up so their disgusting experiments on little Chaim will remain unknown. And you’re buying into this obvious hoax?! Are your anti-chareidi, pro-Zionist sentiments so strong as to overwhelm common sense?
BTW, wasn’t Hadassah one of the hospitals where so many Yemenite “sick” children mysteriously “died”? And where exactly were so many niftarim cut open and their organs stolen? Be proud, Modern Chareidi Zionists! Kol hakavod to Hadassah!

December 5, 2010 5:29 pm at 5:29 pm in reply to: A Letter I Sent To Hadassa Chapters in US & UK #714895msseekerMemberThank you, Helpful. My goal was to start an e-mail campaign. I’m sure the well-meaning Hadassah ladies here would never agree to such cruelty. Who knows how much suffering ?”? there is in Israel and in chu”l because of this forgotten victim of the State. Her husband, always a shy and gentle man, is devastated. Her 70+ YO mother takes care of her. The couple with the baby live in an ancient, moldy room below her mother’s apt. with no phone connection. Even a cellphone won’t work there. If Yenty wants to make a call, she has to roll herself out of her hovel. Every meeting with the kids, every phone call, is fraught with so much difficulty from the Social Services, she often can’t even get thru to them. Her mother, who used to be a lively, happy-go-lucky sweet bubby, was here recently to raise funds, and right before she left she broke down crying so hard a stone could melt.
ANd remember, this is the second case in Israel. The first was Vales, a young father whose son died from neglect in the hospital and he was arrested for killing the child. Since he was the father and not the mother as in Yenty’s case, he was advised to cooperate, sit for a few years, and get it over with. What was the result? Yenty. Don’t let them get away with murder again. ?? ????? ?? ?? ???!
msseekerMemberThanks, HaHa, but we don’t have time and patience to break our heads for a theme and run around for grab bags. I was thinking about playing the rumor game. Could it be fun? (It’s certainly tochendik.)
msseekerMemberJust wanted to bring it back up. Any ideas, anyone?
msseekerMemberTry it at home. Each lady had to draw “the secret to shalom bayis” and the others had to guess what it was. (Like Pictionary.)
msseekerMemberThanks, chesed, but we had something very similar 2-3 years ago. any others?
msseekerMemberKol hakavod, Mod! See what a productive, useful and interesting discussion we can have.
msseekerMemberIt was bashert because you’re destined to marry someone who doesn’t care about that “crime” and/or not destined to marry someone who does. ???? ??????? ??? ???????. ??’ ???? ????.
msseekerMemberIOW, Wolf, why did you ask only me to back up my claim? Why not the OP? Why the double standard? See why we can’t get along? It’s the same reason why Israel can’t get along with the world. As the saying goes, we’re the Jews’ Jews.
msseekerMemberSorry, I have only anecdotal evidence, but I heard recently rebetzin Tz. Heller confirmed this. I tried a couple times to start a poll here, but only the RW posters responded with the numbers of their OTD classmates being 0-1% (yes, chassidish 0% or almost 0%, Yeshivish a little higher, confirming my theory), while LW posters started whining that the poll is totally unnecessary and divisive. So… Since so many of you LW make the claim that more sheltered equals more OTD, I’d LOVE to see your evidence to back this up.
msseekerMember“Unfortuenly many of these yiddishe children go off the derech as a result.”
Shtuyot vehavalim. The more sheltered, the less OTD. (of course too sheltered can cause other problems, but OTD is not one of them.)
msseekerMemberThis is why gedolim are called ???? ????. Just as the eyes see danger before the person comes too close to it, so our gedolim see danger before the body of klal yisroel. Not listening to them is like not believing your eyes when they’re warning you of danger ahead.
msseekerMemberThanks again, everyone, for proving my point. You’re saving me so much time.
msseekerMemberOy vey. I meant to say my post was NOT about excluding MO from klal yisroel ch”v, only about moderating CR so that not every thread turns into a nitpicking contest about the most basic concepts that one side knows inside out and the other refuses to understand or respect. This only distracts us from addressing real issues intelligently and productively and chases away every sensible right winger, thus slowly turning the CR into a frum-bashing forum.
msseekerMemberThanks, Oomis. You couldn’t have made it clearer. It’s good for everyone here to see your attitudes spelled out.
msseekerMemberCR is not klal yisroel. Anyway, thanks for proving my point.
msseekerMemberAs long as some people here think kollel is worse than TV, I’m afraid not.
msseekerMemberI’m afraid metrodriver is right. Speak to the co-workers b4 believing her story.
msseekerMemberThe political conservative-liberal dispute was used as a mashal to the UO-MO squabbles here. The nimshal is so apt, it’s totally unnecessary to explain. If TYW is really Yeshivish and would like to keep it that way and raise the standards of the CR to a high level of intelligence and productivity, I invite the mods to read American Thinker, a conservative website. The mods there keep liberals’ comments to the barest minimum, so that instead of getting bogged down in endless, senselss back-and-forths with reality-challenged liberals, readers partake in the most intelligent discussions on the web. If we hadn’t wasted so much time explaining the basics of our mesorah, minhagim, chumros etc. to people who don’t want to understand, we could’ve discussed our problems unhindered by antagonistic, ridiculous arguments and we might have come up with real solutions. Let the MO create their own website where they might (but probably won’t) address their own problems instead of frum-bashing.
msseekerMemberWhat a coincidence! Just last night I was wondering how long you’ll last here, moq. I’ve come to the same conclusion on Friday when realization hit me that we’re talking to LIBERALS. Gamarnu. What a waste of time. But it was worth it just to learn that there’s no grass on the other side of the fence. Dayeinu. This is the end of every (politically) conservative website that allows liberal “trolls” to hijack every conversation. The sensible ones quickly lose patience with the libs’ nonsense and cheap shots and leave one after the other. WIY, you’re next.
November 12, 2010 5:27 pm at 5:27 pm in reply to: Dose of reality: Kids kicked out of school #709053msseekerMemberLiberalism is a mental disorder. (Michael Savage)
You can never get through to a liberal, because once you prove your point with irrefutable facts the lib resorts to name-calling and ridicule and you’d never stoop to his level. So you let him have the last laugh knowing that the bystanders – the smart ones – will judge your arguments on their validity. Hence, the tea party.
November 12, 2010 12:26 am at 12:26 am in reply to: Dose of reality: Kids kicked out of school #709048msseekerMember“Chassidim have a reputation for being involved in their own sins.”
So do Orthodox Jews in the non-Orthodox world. So do Jews in the non-Jewish world. So does Israel among the nations. If you believe our enemies, why don’t you go all the way?
“I don’t know what YU abominations you are talking about.”
Official gay dorm rooms. Transgendered tenured professor. Apikorsim teaching. 60% of MO college boys sleeping around (thanks, MOQ). YU Graduate publicly thanking his gay partner at graduation (JO). Enough to make a grown man weep.
msseekerMemberNow you really got me going. I see it again and again, here and on other sites. First they step all over us insisting that their way is better and making fun of our “chumras”, and when we disprove them they get all mushy about ahavas yisroel and “equal righteousness”. Yeah, TV’s just as good as no TV, college’s just as good as yeshivah, pritzus is just as kosher as tznius (different standards, you know), kulos are the same as, or superior to, chumros. It’s pure chance that the UO OTD rate is in the single digits while MO is in the doubles. ?? ???? ???? ??????, in Korach’s words. It’s about time we man up, take pride in our success b”H, and tell them the truth: You’re on a slippery slope to Conservative Judaism or worse ch”v.
