    Takamamash, you made my day!

BTW, I keep my eggs on the bottom shelf all the way to the left. That’s just what’s most convenient for us.

IT was this skit that the kids used to do. There were four characters: the cook, the other guy, the doctor, and the director. The cook would act out flipping something in a frying pan. The second guy would walk in and ask “What are you doing?” The cook said “I’m cooking eggs. Want some?” The second guy would pretend to eat and say “These eggs are terrible!” before falling down. The cook would shout “Doctor, doctor, come quick! This man is sick!” The doctor would enter and announce “This man is dead!” (But of course no one was dead. It was a skit. I didn’t need to clarify that; you knew.) The director would come over and shout “Cut! That was terrible! Do it again faster! Or slower, or like ballet, or some other silly variation. Over and over again while that audience cracked up at the absurdity.

This was before we had You Tube to entertain ourselves. It makes me a little sad to think that the “Eggs” skit is no longer being performed anyplace. I hope that somewhere, somebody still knows what I’m talking about.

Sorry. Either you know the routine or you don’t. Nostalgia for the 90’s in the Eastern Seaboard region.

Flip…Chhhh. Flip…Chhhh. “What are you doing?” “I’m cooking eggs; want some?”

I guess no one gets it.

Please don’t rehash the kimeturin debate again.

College students? Get enough sleep. Don’t cram the night before an exam; pace yourself in studying throughout the term.

Whoa, this thread went off topic. C’mon folks, it’s not just the newly delivered mothers who need help. Let’s bump this up and try again.

That’s the fun thing bout these long threads: you get a bunch of sub-thread conversations taking place around each other. I, for one, post my little comments and come back later or the next day and find a response, but by then somebody else has added in their response to the response to me, and the discussion has taken a different tangent. You’ve got a few sub-arguments going on here and I’m not sure who’s talking to whom. I could post “Yeah, that’s what YOU say!” and no-one would know exactly who I’m arguing with.

Big Deal, who exactly are these doctors to whom you are referring?

I used to read one of the freebie Jewish magazines on Shabbos afternoon, but in the pre-Pesach issue they had this four-page anti-vaxx advertorial. I threw that issue away and I refuse to bring it into my house again. I’m not naming any names.

It bothers me when people offer junk science to a heimishe readership; most yeshivos and day schools just don’t provide their students with a science background sufficient to make informed decisions on complex topics like this.

The way I see it: No reputable doctor or scientist unequivocally opposes vaccines. The CDC admits that SOMETIMES there are SOME people who could have a negative reaction to an immunization. The only people who reject all vaccines under all circumstances have no serious medical background.

    Okay, I finally got it!

If you give any one (male or female) a ‘thing’ as a gift (like a vase or a picture frame or a stuffed animal) then they might not like it, and then you’re just contributing to their clutter problem. And if you give consumables as a gift (like candy or fruit) then they might not eat it before it spoils or they might not want to gain weight.

But if you give a woman flowers then it’s not going to be clutter because the flowers are going to die soon anyway. And she doesn’t have to force herself to eat some to prove to you that she appreciates the gift.

This is so odd. This is the second time that I have opened a thread and it says that it was started by one poster but the first post I see is from someone else. Did a moderator remove the first post but it already had responses?

One day I dropped an egg.

    It landed on a keg.

All over the kitchen it did splatter

Some in my mother’s cake batter,

    And on my brother’s leg.

Princess Plony won her sixth grade limerick contest with that one two years ago. Not bad for a sixth grader.

    Another one of her gems:

    There was once a lad

    Who was very bad.

He never did tie his shoe.

On his teacher’s chair he put glue.

    And boy was she mad!

Dust is not chometz, and neither is clutter. Concentrate on cleaning your kitchen: fridge, cabinets, stove. I usually lock up most of my cabinets and just clean out one or two for dry groceries and paper goods. Hatzlacha rabbah!

It’s maaleh min ha teivah that the bill for a monitor with veto power got proposed in the first place. It definitely violates the most basic principals of democracy by proposing to override a duly elected board and to illegally impose property tax increases. The members of the ERCSD board were all incredulous that Walcott made such a proposal. I was incredulous, and I’m just a citizen.

Also, tznius clothing has to fit certain parameters that non-Jews don’t care about, or outright don’t want. Like necklines. So the stores have a smaller client base.

Okay, so let me get this straight: ‘Chasidish’ means they belong to a specific Chasidus (Vizhnitz, Ger, etc.) And ‘heimish’ means…?

in reply to: High Schools in Monsey and the surrounding area #1120947

Now we’re adding ‘Chasidish’ to the mix, but without a definition? I thought that Chasidish people send to their own schools (Satmar, Belz, etc.) And I personally know people who send to Bais Rochel who I would definitely not consider Chasidish.

Does ‘Modern’ mean that the girls learn Gemara, or does it mean that they have boyfriends? Does ‘Yeshivish’ mean that the girls kasher their own chickens, or does it mean that they willingly wear mid-calf skirts? I need concrete examples in order to understand.

I just had PTA last night and it seems like one of my kids is going to need special ed because her reading level is so low but her comprehension is KA”H high. I’m wondering if it’s worth it to fill out a ream of paperwork and bring all sorts of proofs of identity and residency and have her dentist sign a form (Yes, you read that right: dentist) and THEN she’d get evaluated and MAYBE she’d qualify for help…

…and the public school activists seem to want to take away private school special ed funding if they can.

Hi, golfer. I really appreciate your attempt to make peace. That’s very nice of you. I hope that Syag and Joseph appreciate it, too.

Syag, it’s a pity you’ve chosen to ‘drastically cut down on [your] posting’ because of responses you’ve received. I’ve also cut back on my posting because of the snarkiness of the comments that followed (and because I have dial-up, so a lot of the time it’s too painful to bother with posting).

And weighing in on shadchanim: If they suggest doing something that really doesn’t reflect your true self (like the shadchan who told me to wear colored tights), that’s one thing. It’s when they try to bully you into doing something that really doesn’t reflect your true self (like the shadchan who told me to wear shorter skirts), that’s another thing.

I’m married 17 years KA”H and those shadchans still upset me when I think about it.
