The Ramat Eshkol nshei email always has job opps. Also, check the Pirsumit- its’ a paper circulated in American neighborhoods in Yerushalayim. You can see it onine and Pirsumit.com.
mominjerusalemParticipantM husband said there was a sign up in shul about the halachik issues of the situation. My husbands not great at understanding these things, so he didn’t tell me what exactly the sign said, but my suggestion is to ask a rav, because it is not all that simple, which is what I’m going to have to do as well. If anyone asks there rav it would be nice to hear the response.
mominjerusalemParticipantEidah CHareidis does give a hechsher on restaraunts. “La Casa” in Geula has badatz eidah, and if I’m not mistaken, so does Uri’s pizza.
mominjerusalemParticipantI teach a dance class and we were doing stretching with my 3 year old students. I have them reach to their legs and pretend they are grabbing a prize. When I ask what prizes the got I usually get answers like cupcakes, bracelets, ice cream and the like.
Well, one adorable girl very seriously answered “Toes!” 🙂
mominjerusalemParticipantMy 3.5 yr old son is in a gan that’s transitioning english speakers to hebrew. Well he often says random things that I don’t know where he came up with…
He love to scream out “Pach Shelo Ani!!”
I have absolutely no idea where he came up with that one!
There are more of those I can’t think of.
mominjerusalemParticipantI like to pop in every once in a while- don’t usually have time for it=]
mominjerusalemParticipantMy then 18 Month old was kvetching at me.
I said do you want to eat?
“Nooo”
Do you want a drink?
“Noo”
Do you want to play? “Noo”
DO you want to say No?
(His eyes lit up)
“Ya!!”
He then turned to his big brother, made a patching motion and said “No!!” and looks at me with a BIG smile:-)
My older kid(like 3 years old) looks around the house and says: “Mommy! Your House is FLYING!!”=]
mominjerusalemParticipantWow, I didn’t even think of that! Thank you so much for that! I really appreciate you bringing that to my attention!
Tizku Limitzvos! Purim Sameach!
(Still open for ideas everyone!)
mominjerusalemParticipantThe first thing i thought of was prunes, but then decided that I want it to be yummy too=]
mominjerusalemParticipantThe kollel lifestyle is so so rewarding, but it is also difficult.
I do not have any form of degree, (although i’m about to take an online course) we do not have any form of support financially. Its definately been difficult, but all i can say is that there is no lifestyle that you see Hashem more clearly than this. We live month to month, and baruch hashem we are making it.
But you have to really want it to push through the hard times. Hashem is with you even in the hard times.
I grew up ‘traditional’ and also very comfertable financially. My parents definately don’t get it. But were pushing on, and its going great.
Hatzlacha in whatever you choose!
mominjerusalemParticipantI think it has to do with 2 things:
a) A truly tznius woman would be embarrassed to have her picture publicized for all to see. Tznius isn’t just about neck-bone elbows knees. Its about staying out of the limelight and acting in a tznius matter. Rebbitzen Kanievsky would be horrified if her picture was publicized in a newspaper.
b) I think Shmiras Einayim comes in to play here. If its a frum newspaper, I doubt it wants to put men in the situation of looking at women. Even if they are tznius, a man should not be looking at women. Period.
mominjerusalemParticipantWow…
Snows coming down nicely in Ramat Eshkol Jerusalem right now…
Beautiful…
mominjerusalemParticipantAlthough this year Jerusalem seems pretty prepared…
We did stock up for the week, but it seems unlikely that roads will be shut down this year. My concern is- like interjection says- store owners and bakeries using it as an excuse for vacation.(not that I blame them…we could all use a vacation from time to time…:-))
mominjerusalemParticipantI’m not sure if this counts as a Shidduch Story but funny anyway.
My husband and I were on our last date a week before our wedding. We didn’t really shidduch date- we are BTs who became frum together before we got married- we were already dating for like 4 years at that point. We were VERY comfortable with each other.
Anyway- we were at a milchig restaurant after a nice big meal when 2 or 3 girls come into the restaurant and sit at a table near ours.
They then start to play that game where you try to figure out the story of the people in the resaurant- a little too loudly…
They started a description about how my husband and I are probably on our 1st date…maybe 2nd. He looks really rich, I look bored… Not going well at all…
At that point in the conversation I had pulled out my credit card to pay(my parents were paying for it-we arent traditional) and they all gasped.
I was dying for a way to flash my ring at them or something to show just how wrong they were about the WHOLE conversation.
My then chosson and I were on the floor laughng when we finally left!
