On aish.com there’s someone who calls himself David and tells of his struggles with homosexuality. His first article is called “The Straight Path Home” and his second article “Straight Path: David Responds” is a response to the many comments he received. I recommend both articles, to get a glimpse of someone who has been there and made a complete turn around.

Here are just a few lines of what he writes:

Yes, there are many causes of homosexuality. My path is one that is common ? the triadic family and detachment from father, the missed opportunity to bond with other men. Other formative experiences common to those with same-sex attractions include physical or sexual abuse, and peer rejection. Others are responding to what they perceived as threatening relationships with mother or other women.

Over the last decade, studies of twins have provided some of the

strongest evidence that “Our genes do not make us do it”. If you take pairs of identical twins in which one twin is homosexual, the identical co-twin is usually not homosexual. That means, given that identical twins are always genetically identical, homosexuality cannot be genetically dictated. No-one is born gay. The predominant things that create homosexuality in one identical twin and not in the other have to be post-birth factors.

A tayva is a choice. How do we know this? Because tayvas are controllable. Only things that can’t be controlled are not a choice.

Where is that scientific study? Does it also determine that bestiality is not a choice?

You asked me what the difference is between being gay and having gay thoughts.

Being gay is a result of having gay thoughts, and is not, as some people claim, a genetic predisposition. It’s a ta’ava, a lust which starts as a thought and develops as a way of life, like many other ta’avos/lusts. We can control almost anything with our mind, physical and mental. The Lubavitcher Rebbe said “Tracht gut, wird sein gut”. (No, I’m not a Lubavitcher, I’m just trying to prove how strong the mind is.)

If you say that people are born gay/rapist/murderer, you’re saying that it’s in the genes, however until this day, no such genes were discovered.

Have you seen the movie “Trading Places”? The message therein was that people become what society makes of them. Environment and upbringing create rapists and murderers. Homosexuality is a lust which starts in the head, it’s created with our thinking. If we let go of our thinking, we can change our orientation. Being gay is just a thought.

To those who say that gay people don’t choose to be gay, why does the Torah say that mishkav zachar is an abomination and those who are guilty deserve the death penalty? Hashem doesn’t punish anyone who is born with a cleft palate, so how do you even make such a silly comparison? Nobody is born gay, just like nobody is born a murderer. There is no gay gene, it’s all in the mind, that’s where all ta’avos start.

Another frequent mistake I have noticed here is confusing “your” with “you’re”.

Your is a possessive form, your hat.

You’re is short for you are.

frumgirl, did you notice YOUR mistake/YOU’RE mistaken?

    Walled In

    Rabbi Moshe Grylak

    Tuesday, May 28, 2013

I have this niggling feeling of cognitive dissonance at their insistence, with such heart-rending mesirus nefesh, on conducting their ceremonies at the Wall. Why pick on the Kosel, of all places, to demonstrate their aspiration to be like men in every way? What did the Kosel ever do to them?

Do the Women of the Wall share this vision? Do they dream of a rebuilt Beis HaMikdash where they will bring offerings as our ancestors did in ancient times? Do they envision Kohanim slaughtering oxen and lambs as the sacrificial blood flows through the stone conduits around the Altar? Is this what they were praying for on Rosh Chodesh Sivan, when they recited the Musaf prayer amid all the hullabaloo, a prayer that pleads for restoration of the sacrifices?

Women of the Wall, is this what stirs your hearts? If it is this yearning that drives you, then stop the nonsense and join all the other good Jewish women who pray regularly at the Wall with tears and with joy. But Mesdames, with all due respect, does this kind of prayer really jibe with your sensibilities? Does it harmonize with your individualism, with the liberal philosophy you picked up from a crumbling Western civilization? The Kosel ought to be the last place you would choose as a venue for your prayer gatherings.

But how can I expect logic or consistency in the religious behaviors of people from communities where, in many instances, even the rabbi asserts disbelief in G?d? Who are they praying to, then? Who knows and who cares? The main thing is that they get to conduct a prayer service.

Is there anything left to say?

Happiness/Unhappiness comes from within, it is not related to outside factors.

We all know people who have a seemingly good life, health, parnassa, kids, happy marriage etc.. and yet they are miserable. On the other hand we all know people who have many challenges in life, and yet they’re happy, they are mekabel yesurim be’ahava.

We create our own misery with our thinking – with the way we perceive our reality. Some people perceive the cup as half-empty, others perceive it as half-full.

    Our thoughts create our reality.

Emunah is one of the tools with which we can influence our thought process. If we truly believe that everything is orchestrated from above, and whatever Hashem does is good, we won’t feel the urge to fight Hashem’s decrees. When we relinquish control, and allow Hashem to do his job, we gain inner peace, and that’s the key to happiness.

When we find menuchas hanefesh within, we don’t need to change anything on the outside.

    Popa,

Saying that you’re bored does not reflect meanness on my part, it’s merely an observation. If you concluded that I’m mean, it’s an indication that you don’t love yourself unconditionally (bored people lack self-esteem).

Of course you care what an anonymous blogger thinks, why else would you have responded the way you did?

You ask who wants to marry a tzadeikes like Esther, making it sound as if you’re OFFERING a tzadeikes Esther, but when we read further you say that you are LOOKING for a Esther, so the title of this thread should have been: “Which tzadeikes Esther wants to marry Popa?”

It’s written that a woman may not do any “davar meguneh”, an act which could repulse her husband. The woman’s beauty is given for a man to enjoy. A shaved head falls in the category of “davar meguneh”.

To those who are so sure he’s innocent:

How are you so sure? The fact that you say that there’s no possibility WHATSOEVER of him being guilty as charged, proves that you have no sense of justice.

We have one accuser who came forward, and there are more accusers who don’t dare (yet) to come forward.

Isn’t there the remote possibility that maybe, just maybe it could all be true???

If your answer is “no”, then I rest my case.

Are they all lying? Is Weberman the only one who speaks the truth???

Health, it’s no use having a discussion with you, because one can’t convince an oiberchuchem of his foolishness.

The discussion is about a man who threatens and blackmails Jews. Instead of offering advice how to deal with him, you’re saying that if Jews were honest and paid taxes and didn’t hire illegal workers, the psychopath wouldn’t have a weapon, right?

Well, you’re wrong, an abuser will always find victims. One doesn’t deal with an abuser by telling the victims to make sure they remain unfound. One locks up an abuser, and throws away the key.

He first tried to register his sons at the Yesodeh Hatorah boys’ school (the school is subsidized by the government), when they refused to accept them, he took the school to court, but he didn’t win the case, so he tried his luck at the Belzer school. The boys’ cheder is not subsidized (they don’t follow the government program), so they can legally refuse the kids, however the girls’ school (Benoth Yerushalaim), is subsidized so they took legal action against the girls’ school and won. (I believe the school appealed to the higher court).

I remember how AYC was accused of being a criminal because he/she said “I’m a Kletzky”. Apparently there was an investigation with rabbonim involved etc..Jothar kept us updated (is he still around?). If my memory is correct he/she was suspected of being the infamous Joseph. To cut a long story short, AYC was found innocent, YW apologized, everybody begged him/her to return, he/she was too hurt but I see he/she is posting again.

Now Zeeskite is the new suspect.

I believe that YW likes to stir the pot and make believe there’s a Joseph roaming around the coffee room, looking for victims. I don’t believe there is a Joseph, it’s all part of Yeshiva World’s way to attract posters.

Of course, I could be Joseph writing all this. Let me tell you about my unpleasant experience with one of the moderators. A while ago, I emailed YW, and actually got a response, however the mod insinuated that I’m Joseph, told him I would gladly speak to him on the phone, he told me that if I give my name and phone number, the chief editor will call me. I gave my details, but nobody ever called me. I felt duped, but nobody cared. Anyway mods or chief or key master or whatever you want to call yourselves, my offer still stands, my phone number is still the same, you can still call me.

About Zeeskite, he/she writes beautifully, perfect English, seichel hayashar, but if the witch-hunt attracts posters, he/she must be Joseph.
