Ok I’m going to throw out the first question…..

Who serves better food/alcohol at their simchas, UO or MO.

    Discuss……..

in reply to: What has to be put in writing with Bathroom contractor #796818

WHEN THE WORK WILL BE DONE

in reply to: One Orthodoxy, Two Worlds #797202

How about the UO and the MO switch places for a week, they can switch jobs, shuls, houses, families etc…then report back how life was like living like the other…

in reply to: Guy's Insensitivities #796375

MiddlePath…I think the Guy should go to the girl.

The story kind of reminds me about what Hillel said to the potential convert when asked to explain the whole torah while standing on one foot. Hillel responded, “That which is hateful to you, do not do to your fellow man. This is the law; all the rest is commentary; go and learn it.”

    just my 2 cents

    in reply to: Stoping a cremation… #796278

Sender Av…funds are tight, but I would be happy to donate to help raise funds for a proper burial…

Nahmanides debates…am I the only one that this rings a bell with?

in reply to: One Orthodoxy, Two Worlds #797179

My vote for the UO side be a true charedi who follows the rabbonim who claim the Internet to be assur, and actually follows that without question. That includes no excuses like I use it because I need to make parnasa or I use filters… When we find this person, we can get him or her a heter to come online to debate….

In fact before the MO/UO debate, I’d like to see a charedi debate. One who follows that the Internet is assur and the other says it’s ok ( with filters of course ;)…

As silly as the above sounds that’s what I think of this thread…but I hope I made my point..

But if I’m forced to choose debators. I select The Wolf for UO and CharlieHall for MO

in reply to: Children : The Challenge #796223

I’m very uncomfortable with you straping your baby in her crib…. This sounds very dangerous….and an accident waiting to happen. I strongly urge you to get professional help to deal with all of this, as you seem very overwhelmed…

in reply to: In honor of Tisha B'av. What you respect about… #1165087

I respect the Jewish Soilders from all backgrounds serving in the IDF. Who constantly put their life on the line for Kal Yisroel.

in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796072

Shilishi…”Question: In a case where the parents are abusing the children physically…..”

Since your statement says that the parents are abusing their children…without a doubt. Then to me this is a matter of life or death and thus everything should be done to remove the children immediately…regardless of where they are placed. The priority is a safe environment. If it’s with a secular or even non-Jewish family, then that is what needs to be done…a permanent home will be worked out later…

and Yes, the police should be called, then the Rav. In that order.

in reply to: In honor of Tisha B'av. What you respect about… #1165081

I respect Breslov chassidim for their Joyus outlook on life.

apushatayid…well said…it seems like the bashing has taken on a feverish pitch…

in reply to: What makes someone a Charadi? #795637

“Anonimous: I’m sorry you had a bad experience in Chareidi Yeshivos. Any Chareidi who acts bad bain adam l’chaveiro is not a real Chareidi/Frum Jew.”

Have you read your posts recently?

in reply to: Romantic songs #1003555

I didn’t read the whole the thread…I like the Beatles song “I want to hold your hand”…I do hold my wife’s hand in public…especially on our shabbos walks…

in reply to: Halacha Discussions, Obscure Heteirim, and the Modern Orthodox #795501

Thank you for the apology and I hope you can forgive me If I offended as well…As for looking at the Chareidi community as “backward” I can assure you that I don’t…

Shlishi, instead of looking down on your fellow Jews, why not offer some practical advise? Why do you need to continually take cheap shots at the MO world? I understand you don’t agree, but your continues nasty comments have reached a new low…your comments are a constant reminder of why we are in galus and continue to mourn… Thanks for this reminder so close to tishubav.

in reply to: Halacha Discussions, Obscure Heteirim, and the Modern Orthodox #795484

Lomed, stop it already, we get it,MO’s are a bunch of Yids just looking for an easy way out… And you have all the answers…the MO world values the goyish culture and does everything to appear as if they are goyim. They wear goyish clothes and for those few MO who wear kippas, they wear the smallest ones so no one will notice… you figured it out…

in reply to: A Lack Of Sensitivity #795241

    Aries, great post

in reply to: What makes someone a Charadi? #795622

Msseeker, your logic and arguments are based on assumptions and a wild imagination…the charedi have their own problems with OTD…ever read the countless blogs about people from yeshivish background leaving the fold…Don’t make it seem like things are perfect and only MO kids are breaking shabbos

in reply to: What makes someone a Charadi? #795600

I think the divisions and lack of understanding and animosity I see in the CR between yeshivish and MO is a new york thing…in other parts, like Montreal although there are two distinct communities, there is alot of cross over…there is no hatred, but mutual respect and love…we shop and eat at the same places, and support one another’s institutions…seeing some people’s negative view of the MO world has been eye opening…I am surprised by the hatred, sorry but that is exactly what it is…thank HAshem I live in Montreal and don’t have be surrounded by such Jew on Jew hatred. This place has been an eye opener for me….we are our own worst enemmies. I read the posts here and just shake my head.

first step is to visit Yeshivat Har Etzion, they have a web site…

in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796018

aries2756….Sadly I know you can..just goes to show you can’t judge a book by it’s cover…the REAL problem is when they go unreported and swept under the rug by “ehrlich” Jews

in reply to: A Lack Of Sensitivity #795225

Thanks for the back handed apology, For example your little jab…

“we might not approve of your kulos, of course. (if we did, why, we’d be MO too; it’s much easier!)”

And by the way this site, this Yeshivish site has a Facebook page…Why do I bring that up AGAIN?? Becasue you cant paint an entire people with one brush…

Just like some Yeshivish people wouldn’t dare go on Facebook, the site catering to them has a page…

So, if you are going to let your kids come to this “safe” enviroment, beware that they can easily click on a link on the top left of this very page and go to facebook and youtube….

in reply to: What makes someone a Charadi? #795574

Lomed Mkol Adam and Chacham…please don’t generalize…They’re many Yeshivish people who are the same as you described…

in reply to: What makes someone a Charadi? #795567

Lomed Mkol Adam…thanks for another MO jab…

in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796013

Peacemaker…I can give you examples with names, but my post would be blocked…

“apushatayid”…I AGREE 100% with your statement

who is steering the ship? I think the Mods are overboard!

in reply to: Levi Aron Wasn't Religious – Ate Non-Kosher (McDonalds) #796007

“I think it does make a difference. Simply because, this goes to show that an ehrliche yid wouldn’t do anything like that. I think it can somewhat restore a bit of our trust in ehrliche Yidden.”

unfortunatly that is not the case…there are too many examples of child molestors that are “ehrliche”.

in reply to: A Lack Of Sensitivity #795212

Maseeker…I’m just calling it the way I see it…I can’t speak of other sites as I have no idea to what you are referring… I can only comment on the threads here…bottom line is if it’s not your way it is wrong… Sorry to tell you but that is not the case, even when examples are brought down with the support of very respected Ravs, they are tossed aside and the Rabonim are chastised….

No one says you must agree and follow their derech, but to bash non stop to prove how Frum you are is wrong… There are many derechs, you do not have a monopoly on the “right” one….actually I’ll go further and say all orthodox derechs, be it chasidish, litvak, spherdich, are all correct… Different but 100% kosher…just wish some would see it as I do…. But I guess propping yourself up by pulling others down makes you feel better.

in reply to: A Lack Of Sensitivity #795199

Why does it seem like every thread turns into bashing MO Jews…I see a lot of opinions and assumptions, very few if any are accurate…it seems like the Yeshivish world doesn’t even view them as Jews, let alone frum ones…I guess supporting the state of Israel and getting a secular education makes you a goy here…

in reply to: Do you watch movies? #800637

I like them, I watch them, I have no problem with them

in reply to: Hair loss #794326

“Look at the bright side, he wont be accused of being “MO” due to his bobby pin, or his chup.”

    FUNNY 🙂 🙂 🙂

in reply to: bobby pins in yarlmukas #794136

If the brochur is “rebelling” and making a statement by wearing bobby pins, then Kal Yisroel is in good shape if this all he is doing to make a statement…sorry I don’t see how this is an issue…

in reply to: Hair loss #794322

    come over….

in reply to: bobby pins in yarlmukas #794128

I had no idea people judged others and it gives an impression of a lax in halacha if you wear a boobby pin…I thank Hashem that I don’t live in those communities!…

in reply to: Texting on Shabbos could be worse than murder #794067

No One Special…..”Don’t you realize that however sad it is, the murdered child rests peacefully in Gan Eden eternally, while kids who text lose their eternal life! Life in this world is short and only a corridor to the next, as it says in Pirkei Avos”

And what about the anguish the family goes through? What about the endless pain they must deal with…what if they can no longer function and let their Yidishkyte slip away or worse develop a hatred for it?. This happened to many who lived through the horrors of the Holocaust, many of them through away their Judaism…

I’m sorry but Murder to me is worse…Like I said before you can teach and inspire someone about the beauty of shabbos…we can’t bring people back from the dead….

in reply to: Texting on Shabbos could be worse than murder #794063

    “Mechallel Shabbos is 100X worse”

You can teach someone about NOT being Mechallel Shabbos and enjoy the beauty of shabbos….as far as I know, we can’t bring people back from the dead…

in reply to: Ir Miklat and the Wizard of Oz #1066922

in reply to: Chuck E. Cheese's vs. McDonalds #793461

Chuck E. Cheese’s is like going bowling or to a ball game…your going for the amusement not the food.

in reply to: What do you do Shabbos Afternoon #838712

I DO NOT send text messages

in reply to: Radical Islam #793373

“We’re in galus. We’re not allowed to revolt against the goyim. All we can do is daven and better ourselves so that moshiach should come.”

So, we should be like sheep to the slaughter?

in reply to: Texting on Shabbos could be worse than murder #794037

“How disturbing is it that principals and teachers and parents walk around openly using cell phones”

in reply to: What do you do Shabbos Afternoon #838701

    OlamHaba…”mikehall12382 – no sleeping’

Not a chance with my kids 🙂

in reply to: Texting on Shabbos could be worse than murder #793998

the bigger question is what is being taught in Yeshivas? Are the Rebbonim engaging? Do they inspire? Do they answer the students questions intelligently?

Unfortunately I’m afraid the answer is not really…If the teachers have no passion, then the students may not as well…

The kids probably say if all those around me are doing wrong, then how bad can it be to send out a text message on shabbos?
