I love it how men are giving women advice on what type of skirt to wear. The big question is men discussing women’s clothing tznius 🙂
mikehall12382MemberFalafel tasting
mikehall12382Memberi object your honour
mikehall12382MemberSimon & Garfunkel are Jewish 😉
mikehall12382MemberHealth, what kind of Jew insults ones Torah learning as you have just done in your post above? CAlling his learning crum? That is a major insult to many highly regarded rabbonim who do in fact support the Medina.
I am shocked that your personal attach on BRochur1818 learning was allowed through by the mods. I have never seen such a hateful attack.
You and YWN should be embarrassed for starting and allowing such insults.
Health your statement went above a respectful debate of two conflicting ideologies, it was personal and a low blow.
Bochur1818, I know as a young person it is shocking to see such hatefulness within the frum world. As you get older unfortunately this is something that you will see more and more of.
If the above post isn’t clear as to why we are still and gallus and are still waiting for our redemption I don’t know what is.
I hope I am not the only one to speak out on this
June 6, 2011 1:27 am at 1:27 am in reply to: Dont forget-SALUTE TO ISRAEL PARADE SUNDAY JUNE 5th #774818mikehall12382MemberSo nice to see this thread….
mikehall12382MemberHakatan… Sad very sad indeed… Maybe if your family emerged from the ashes of Europe and settled in Israel, you would sing a different tune. My family has witnessed first hand the miracle of the modern Jewish state.
mikehall12382MemberIsrael has survived and flourished despite great odds. If that isn’t the “hand” of HAshem I don’t know what is…go to the kotel see Jews of all walks of Life davening together, it’s a remarkable to see a
Soilder, chossid, safardi, litvak, modern, and secular standing together in complete awe…once you experience that you’ll see that Jewish control of Jerusalem is a precious peek to what the end of galus will look like…HAshem controls everything including jewish (israel) control over our holy city…if it’s deemed we no longer deserve it then HAshem may allow ISraels neighbors to take it over, but until then I believe that there is a reason why Israel controls jerusalem
mikehall12382MemberI think the intention to take over the land came a bit earlier than that, like after the exodus 😉
mikehall12382MemberWhy do you want to wear one? To identify with a certain group? To fit in? You could still be a good frum Jew without one. Ask a rabbi first….but there will be plenty of time when you are married and on your own to wear one.
mikehall12382MemberIt’s a sad day when jews are fighting jews over the importance of Jerusalem. For the record Jerusalem is and will always be of upmost importance to us. We may not agree with everything but the fact is that the holy city is now in Jewish hands and we have to thank hashem for giving the IDF the power to reclaim it.
As for pre 48 logic, Arabs were killing Jews in Palestine before the modern state….
With so much infighting no wonder we are still in galus
mikehall12382Member“Exercise is important, but to discourage a boy from learning for it?!?!?”
If you dont give kids a healthy outlet, they may find them on their own, without supervision….
mikehall12382MemberIf it is such an assur why would the vaad grant a huckster and allow a moshgiach on premis
mikehall12382Member“set and match”
do they also sell kosher food at the US Open (tennis) 🙂
mikehall12382Memberminyan gal, you should read it, but why wait till next year 🙂
my kids are too young, but i will print it and maKe it mandatory reading when they are older!
mikehall12382MemberDear Your Anti-Zionist and Non-Zionist fellow CRers,
Some of us religious Zionist are too tired of arguing with you anti Zionist. I f you are seriously looking for answers I urge you to check out the following
http://www.rabbis.org/news/article.cfm?id=105632
Sincerely,
mikehall12382Member“They only put them on the men’s tables, not the women’s. “
how do you know :)_
mikehall12382Memberpowerful
mikehall12382MemberBSD…no problem, my responce was a bit harsh as well, I too must be in one of those moods!
mikehall12382Membermaybe instead of calling this Yeshiva World News the name should be changed to Neturei Karta. World news
Health also mentioned that for the most part BT aren’t welcom into the fold, so know who you are dealing with…by the way that was a horrible comment, perhaps the worst I have ever read here.
mikehall12382Member“Why is this a “MUST READ?”
because it is very powerful and something we should never forget, to realize the victims of the Shoa were not just numbers but people….
“Because Aish said so. Kapish?”
no, because we should remember…
strange that on such a site, people would turn their noses and make fun of an article about the Shoa…if frum yids don’t care, how will anyone else…sad responses indeed
mikehall12382Member“Mike- i’ll find you the mishna brura that expressly assurs going to stadiums. I don’t remember where but it it says in shulchan aruch mishna brura that stadiums and theaters are assur”
during choel moed, i’ve seen plent of frum families at ball games…just saying, there must be more than meets the eye..
mikehall12382Memberbasket of radishes…I can’t wait to see the responces to your post :)…it’s going to gt messy!!
mikehall12382Memberwhat happens if a parent has a child who converts…therefore he is now considered “parentless”
then later on, the parents convert…are they now deemed parent and child again?
mikehall12382Membermikehall12382Member“going to a game: absolutely assur”
“One need not watch, to follow a team through a season.”
happy this is only your opinions, as I’m sure most of the people wearing kippas and eating at the kosher food stands at the stadiums would agree 🙂
mikehall12382Membernot sure what the issue is, sports is a great way to get excercise…rabbi walerstein often talks about playing hockey as a youth and with his students…at least that is what i can remeber from one of his shuirs
mikehall12382Member“This is also a thread where joseph claims to bring halacha without bringing in any sources whatsoever.”
could not agree more…
mikehall12382Member“Girls drinking beer is also boorish, you wouldn’t say?”
Thanks for letting me know, I’ll be sure to let my wife know she has been called boorish…
mikehall12382Member“drinking out of a bottle is really disgusting. In fact once on a shidduch I saw a girl do it….and I broke off the shidduch…”
I know this isn’t the only reason, but seriously? You have a lot to learn about marriage and relationships…let this be the worst thing you have to deal with in life….
mikehall12382Memberashmorris613,..your explanation is along the same lines that I have heard from other rabbonim…
I have never heard a Rabbi say you have to disown them…
That is why I have an “raised” eyebrow with Pac Man on this…
mikehall12382Member“This Rabbi”is very highly regarded by many…
mikehall12382Memberadorable…very serious actually…you are the one that said OMG this is so scary…such a reaction looks to me like it is very personal and you are looking for an Halachic answer…so yes, I’m serious…
Lastly, as you can see from the Wolf’s comments, there are different approaches to your question, Pac Man as far as I know does not have an authoritative voice in this matter….besides I thought he would be too tires from fasting today and wearing his sak cloth o give a proper answer 🙂
mikehall12382Memberadorable…please ask an Ortho Rabbi, not someone from the Coffee Room…with all do respect to all here…
mikehall12382Memberadorable…why do you dislike it so much?
mikehall12382MemberAriInMD…I agree with you 100%, if only it was that easy :(…perhaps when this really happens we will warrant the comming of Moshiach
mikehall12382Member“Because the medina is a maisa satan.”
I think that is a bit much, you may not agree with the Modern State, but it’s within the Modern State of Israel one can learn torah all day and receive a stipen form this Maisa Satan, not to mention free schooling for their kids!
mikehall12382Memberwhat he said 🙂
mikehall12382MemberI could never imagine staying in an Arab state, even if it is in EY…The number one obligation is to preserve your life, I think staying can seriously jeopardize one’s health
mikehall12382MemberIf someone can talk from their personal experience, with regards to what the Rabbi’s told You, that would shed some light…
mikehall12382Member“I remember learning in halacha that a Ger disowns his pre-conversion family”
mikehall12382MemberHealth…maybe it turns into an argument because you need some refinement in your approach?
mikehall12382Memberconsider it a test and guess what you passed!
mikehall12382MemberWhat have I spoken to them about, the usual work, weather, kids, the news…intersting shuirs I’ve heard
mikehall12382MemberIn other communities, there would be no problem what so ever, even if this is clearly socializing…
Full disclosure I do not have an issue with either (with certain bounds I.E husband and wife going out with another couple or socializing over a shabbos tabole etc..), just curious how those who are opposed to one, can be ok with the other….
mikehall12382Membermikehall12382Member“You can find an excuse for anything I suppose.
Like being on the internet?”
I often wondered about that as well, and the excuse I must use it for work, doenst apply here…
mikehall12382MemberFeif Un…since you are on such a hot streak, can you add a couple more? Like freeing Shalit??
mikehall12382Member“I hate to say this, but if my introduction to torah jewery was the yeshiva world coffee room, I would run the opposite way. The invective routinely directed towards others is horrible.”
I believe you are on to something. BH they only find out about the coffee room once they are fully fledged members 🙂
