seasons on Main Street is open . I have gone there. It’s lovely.
Like a smaller version of Pomegranet. They even offer valet parking.
Also, Kollel store is very accomodating. Not as fancy looking but accommodating and ahs fresh food and I think best prices of the bunch coz they are not quite as fancy.
mewhoParticipantamen
mewhoParticipantcshapiro, i dont drink coffee so i have no clue on the taste. only know my hubby has purchased it and used it.
mewhoParticipantcheck shoprite. i think they have something called international
mewhoParticipantif it keeps your hat or shtraimel dry why do you care so much what it looks like. it is not being worn for fashion. it is being worn to keep you dry.
think about uggs boots, they are quite ugggggggly but they keep my feet nice and warm
mewhoParticipantthe less you say, the better.
mewhoParticipantnext time you go there bring your own music and turn it up as you dance through the aisles.
mewhoParticipantok, someone please tell me why anyone would need to post a fake ip and go through any hoops to get one.

August 28, 2011 5:43 pm at 5:43 pm in reply to: Dating in a Hurricane! (or immediately after) #804813mewhoParticipantmake sure you know how to swim if you date after the hurricane.
theres no public transportation , so you can either walk or take a car.
be careful, dating after a hurricane is not tznius
mewhoParticipantgiving compliments is a terrible thing. it is not tznius. we allknow that compliments lead to blushing and that leads to untznius thoughts.
if you must give a compliment it should be on the other side of a mechitza
mewhoParticipantlipa the singer?
mewhoParticipanti think it is very untznius. always remember that people should not dress up nicely. it is showy and not tznius.
best to wear an outfit that looks like a school uniform
mewhoParticipantget out the rummikub, monopoly etc.
get to know your family members again
mewhoParticipanti guess no one has heard of this place
mewhoParticipantmore than 70? omg , i will send the guys with the radar guns out after you
mewhoParticipantby the way, if you leave the radio on in flatbush, i still wont be able to hear it all the way from there.
August 26, 2011 9:27 pm at 9:27 pm in reply to: Earthquake + Hurricane during One Week in New York #802732mewhoParticipantthis is happening because eating ice cream is not tznius
August 26, 2011 9:02 pm at 9:02 pm in reply to: To those brothers and sisters on the East Coast… #803480mewhoParticipantamen, that was so thoughtful. thank you!
mewhoParticipantoh my goodness, ladies, please educate yourselves. read , read and listen, listen
learn what these things mean. learn what to do and not to do.
if you can post in here you can go to news websites and the OEM (office of emergency management) website to read what you need to do or what you should not do.
READ!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
mewhoParticipantdoes she have a PHD?
PHD=PAPA HAS DOUGH
mewhoParticipantnext time have the choclate over cashews
milk chocolate covered cashews is the yummiest!!
mewhoParticipantthis is ridiculous. i wear sunglasses for multiple reasons. 1-it is supposed to protect your eyes from cataracts in the future. 2 if the sun is bright i sometimes see little flashes as my eyes are sensitive and my eye dr said to wear the sunglasses.
for me sunglasses are year round. i know someone else mentioned it , but for the record there is sun during the winter and when ther is snow it is also very bright so sunglasses helps.
how bout we pick on fancy cars next or maybe ordering a steak in a restaurant is not tznius. or maybe large pieces of jewelry is not tznius. i think all engagement rings should be assured as not tznius.
give it a break folks
mewhoParticipanti am not overweight
i am under height
in otherwords, if i were 5’10 my weight would be perfect.
however, being 5’1 i need to lose a few pounds.
🙂
mewhoParticipanti can do that too. all i have to do is take off my glasses
mewhoParticipantdont men call it a ”kilt”?
and i cant blame em for not wanting to wear em. i prefer solids to plaids
mewhoParticipantthe beatles
mewhoParticipanti think it is dangerous to drive while wearing a hat.
it might block some of the rear view mirror visibility
mewhoParticipantA/c do you mean Lucky Dip?
mewhoParticipantguilianni
August 22, 2011 1:47 pm at 1:47 pm in reply to: Teenage girls and older chewing gum on the street #800920mewhoParticipantmany chew gum to aid in dieeting.
for the record, i have been to the krm supermarket and seen women in shaitels (50 plus years old) chewing gum. it didnt make me think they were not tzniusdik.
one actually crackeled the gum and that annoys my husband tremendoussly.
we once went to a concert and a woman two rows behind us kept crackling her gum. i finally turned around and asked her not to crackle as we came to hear the concert by the musicians not the crackling of her chewing gum…she did stop!
August 22, 2011 1:43 pm at 1:43 pm in reply to: They are taking ages to get back to us… I'm really nervous caus its my first o #801015mewhoParticipantjust out of curiousity, if someone is foolish enough to post over Shabbos does that poster get black listed?
I know people who have Facebook and said their name has been listed to liking a product during Shabbos time. I believe it has to do with the product posting the ”likes” rather than when the poster posted it.
mewhoParticipanti think 3k for a shaitel is insane. unless you have extra money laying around it is a shame to spend so much money for that. which by the way, the shaitel is usually beautiful and even nicer than the persons hair, which makes me wonder where the tznius has gone.
mewhoParticipantwow i rememebr so much of this stuff.
dont forget the pocketbook guy. he is still around selling his stuff.
there was also another fruit/veggie truck that an older guy drove around.
and who can forget the roller skating truck. they would come with a big van like an ice cream truck. hang out flags, rent the skates and play music.all on your colonies grounds
mewhoParticipantdrove past the big apple rest stop today. its boarded up and falling apart.
remember when ichud was ideal (not religious , some not jewish ) bungalow colony?
what else? hmmm, i know!!
the newspaper store on broadway in monticello with the statue of the native american outside of it.
also , wasnt there a fancy dress shop on broadway called annes?
August 21, 2011 11:39 pm at 11:39 pm in reply to: If Im the ony one to give complete down payment to children… #800722mewhoParticipanthere’s a thought. tell your child(ren) that you are LOANING them the money for the downpayment and can call the loan at any time. this way if all is happy in their home you have no need to call it , but if there ever comes a time that things are bad, you can call the laon so that your in law child does not profit from the money you laid out.
mewhoParticipanti like corn on the cob
mewhoParticipanthow about pink hats? pink shirts seem to be all the rage lately.
mewhoParticipantand what is the story with chewing gum?
if you buy the mentos with the hebrew words on it , it is almost 3 bux a pack. the english one is about 1.29
i cant read the hebrew ingredients. anyone know the difference?
also, ive seen where twizzlers has a sticker slapped on it and is then kosher enough for the frum stores to carry it, yet the twizzlers sold in shop rite that has no sticker is less expensive.
hmmmmmmmm
August 19, 2011 2:00 am at 2:00 am in reply to: Teenage girls and older chewing gum on the street #800905mewhoParticipantthere are people out there who will look for things to pick on.
why cant people be happy and busy with themselves instead of looking at what others do under a microscope.
mewhoParticipanthow about the old pixy stix? they are nothing like the ones they have nowadays.
dont forget the old hair curling iron that you stuck into a flame to heat up.
refrigerators that had ice all around the freezer.
ovens with pilot lights; suitcases without wheels; black and white tvs with the rabbit ear antennas; tv tubes in back of the tv; the old PF Flyers sneakers; spalding pink balls, stickball bats made from an old mop or broom; old seltzer bottles delivered to your house; fresh milk delivered in a glass bottle; an AM transistor radio; clotheslines to hang the wet clothes on; clothespins too of course; cars without power steering and power brakes!!!
mewhoParticipantoomis-i thought your advice was excellent!
momma-here’s yet another idea. when your mil says something negative try to interject something positive. if she says the soup is too bland, tell her that she can add salt and pepper but you and the family prefer it jsut the way it is.
if she says the house is not clean enough, tell her its clean enough to be healthy and messy enough to be happy.
i actually bought a little plaque like that 35 yrs ago for my own howm. my mil is a clean-a-holic and i am a clean person, yet slightly cluttered in some rooms. (not kitchen and bathrooms, they are spotless)my mil saw that sign and got the drift…in a nice way.
try to make your comments in a friendly way so that things dont turn into an all out war. that wont be good for anyone.
another option is…let her say what she says and try really hard to have it go in one ear and out the other.
it wont cost you anything if you can work that into your head.
good luck!
mewhoParticipantand lets not forget the apollo mall
mewhoParticipantwhat about the Pioneer Hotel, Zuckers Glenwild Hotel, great american supermarket, ames and jamesway
by the way, service star/trading post in monticello is closing or has already clsoed.
who rememebrs davco and playland on browadway in monticello?
also there was a dairy store on route 42 not far from monticello high school.
cant remember the name of the place but it later became yasgur farms ice cream shop till it clsoed after a few years.
mewhoParticipantive heard other people who make the tech stop the mri.
tell your doc you need to get an open mri
most areas have places with those kind of machines
mewhoParticipantdont watch what the neighbors spouse does and belittle what your spouse does.
what you see on the outside is not always the way it really is on the inside.
the grass is not always greener on the otehr side.
mewhoParticipanti read each post and i dont think i saw anyone posting another bunch of expenses.
the boys parents are told they have to get the girl silver candlesticks.
the boys parents are told they have to buy the girl a shaitel
the boys parents are told they have to buy the girl a bracelet
the boy is supposed to give the girl pearls or some other jewelry in the yichud room
the girl is supposed to get the guy a talis.
am i missing anything? please add (not chasidish so no straimel here)
mewhoParticipantzactly!
mewhoParticipanti am considerate whether i am in the city or in the country. people need to follow that rule. being on vacation from work and school is one thing. being on vacation from midos is another. there should be no vacation from having good midos.
mewhoParticipantright, like saying ”nu, shhh”
speaking is speaking no matter the word or sound
