in reply to: what would you do FIRST if you became a mod? #787225

i think the first order of business when someone becomes a mod is making a kiddush!

after that if i were a mod, i would have a meeting with the mod squad and set rules that must be adhered to.

upon entering the coffee room each person must click the ”i agree” button which signifys that the rules have been read and agreed to.

one of the most important rules would be RESPECT. each person who posts has a right to their opinion . we do not have to agree with it, but they are allowed to voice their thoughts here. i would not tolerate the insults and bashing that sometimes happens on this site. it only adds to the sinas chinam and loshon hora.

we should try to make this site a positive one with people looking to learn positive things here and doing mitzvas.

thanks for allowing me my thoughts!

while i do enjoy reading some posts where i am able to learn something i do not enjoy reading the insulting and degrading ones. i would like to ask that the moderator not post those that insult others here or others levels of religiousity.

people are different. people in your own circles are not carbon copies of yourself.

i have a number of friends who told me they stopped reading posts here for exactly what i am writing in this post.

before internet was available tehre was plenty loshon hora and sinas chinam. however, it appears to me taht there is more now as people can find nasty things to say at the click of a button.

mods, i respectfully request that demeaning, insulting posts be deleted and not posted in the future.

a little less hatred won’t be a bad thing

make sure the kitchen maker has the dimensions of your appliances. make sure the kitchen maker knows where your water and gas are and need to be. moved or not moved. window finishings.make sure you can open fridge, oven, dishwasher and cabinet doors with enough room to walk through.

i ahve a galley kitchen and it is narrow. every inch counted. my cabinets for food are floor to ceiling and i love them. abover the counters i went up to the ceilings as well. make sure to request the molding be included too. i did not want 8-10 inches of space from the ceiling to the top of the cabinet for dust collection. thats all i can think of right now. good luck!

what about a utility closet with timers and switches and supplies in it? you do have to walk into it to flip switches or take out supplies.

most sprays say to use in a well ventialted area. that in itself tells me not to use them. ever try oven cleaner or fantastic in a small room? choking!!

use mr clean or pine sol if you want the bathroom to smell fresh. dont spray air freshener after using the bathroom. just drop some pine sol in the toilet bowl and it will get rid of the odor you are trying to hide.

make sure the first thing to pay is rent/mortgage.

also do your best to pay your credit card bill totally each month. the minimum payment is a trap to get you to pay high interest and you will be paying off a bill for years that way.

if you cant afford it, then wait and save up the money to pay for it before buying it.

if someone has a 15 or 25 dollar co pay and they would be billed that for having hatzolah transport their family member to the amulance at least hatzolah would be able to collect quite a few hundred dollars from the insurance companies as well. this would relieve a lot of the financial stress that the organization has.

it would be well worth it in the long run.

and the co pay cost would probably be similar to the cost of a car service to the hospital in the city.

the costs to run hatzalah upstate are so out of this world it is scary.

insurance, gas, equipemnt…it all adds up to hundreds of thousands of dollars.

that much is not raised thru the appeals. insurance has become necessary at this point.

I think Hatzolah should charge the insurance.

Especially upstate. The cost is so huge that the appeals for Shabbos Hatzolah cannot even begin to cover it.

i dont want anything covered up. i am jsut stating that since some have mentioned that there are minors in this room perhaps the room owner is liable for room content. which is why i suggest some sort of disclaimer.

i have periodically posted that people here who have problems should seek real help outside of this room and i belive in that 100%

as i said in a different post, there is too much texting going on. certain jobs should not allow it at all.

a supermarrket in my area does not allow the cashiers to text or they get fired. i’m guessing that came after they gave someone back the wrong amount of change

ppl seem to text ALL the time. i see parents doing it while pushing their child in the stroller, while pushing them on the swings.

it is never ending. the kids sure get less attention this way.

ive seen people text at the drs office as well.
