I’m no investment expert, but I don’t think it’s a good idea to invest your life savings into something like that.

As a general rule: the higher the potential returns, the higher the risk. If it were just easy money everyone would do it.

The OP talked about mid winter vacation. Many people go to Florida for mid winter vacation. There’s a lot of pritzus in Florida.

    That’s quite a stretch

Ok maybe a better way to phrase it would be “the fetus doesn’t go against the Torah.”

Read what I wrote and think about it.

Where does abortion fit in? Is the fetus another person?

I think that regarding personal matters (i.e. matters that don’t involve another person who may not follow the Torah) it would be preferable for secular law to be less restrictive than Torah law.

The law always protected a mother’s life who was endangered, even in the 9th month.

Is that the only basis for a halachic heter? Aren’t there other considerations too?

Immerse the electric kettle and let it thoroughly dry. Unscrew whatever plastic cover there is and use a hair dryer to help it dry faster.

There is an opinion that you can give it to a non-jew and then just borrow it from him, and then it doesn’t require tevilah, but you should ask your local Orthodox Rabbi about that.

The counter argument to that would be: Meh.

Folks, so far ProVaxxers cannot explain why CDC refuses to do a Vaxxed vs UnVaxxed Study!

A poster to this thread related of a person she knew personally who had a child who was vaccinated and

This was a CDC STUDY that showed that Vaccines Cause Autism! CDC HID THIS STUDY! When this CDC Study was revealed, CDC hired Scientists to DEBUNK Their Own Study – because CDC did not like the Results – it Proved Vaccines Cause Autism!

    Keej,

It doesn’t matter how many subjects you remove from group. As long as there is justification for removing each one and you are left with an adequate sample size, it shouldn’t affect the results of the study.

    Keej,

You said you’re justified in removing the 10,000 with red socks. I’m not so sure. What if coincidentally, there was a concentration of either Neuro-typical or Autistic children in that group. That would make a very big difference on the resulting ratio.

The reason studies like this require large samples is to minimize the likelihood of coincidences such as the one you described. A major part of analyzing the results of any statistical study is calculating the probability that the results are in fact meaningful.

    This is Statistical Analysis 101.

Ok keej, here’s a hypothetical study. Let’s see what you think:

The purpose of the study is to determine the risk factor in the general population for autism.

I take a random sample of 100,000 people.

I remove 10,000 people who are wearing red socks, because I hate red socks. (I’m justified in doing this, because we can all agree that the color of one’s socks has no effect on his risk for autism, so the autism ratio in the remaining group should be the same as in the original group.)

I’m now left with 90,000 people. I find that 900 have autism. I conclude that the risk factor for autism among the general population is 1:100.

    Thoughts?

    Doomsday,

It could have been the 32 doses of Vaccines other then MMR.

No it couldn’t have, because that would be contrary to our assumptions.

    Keej,

    Non-MMR Group

    1) Being human with genes.
    2) 95,000
    3) can’t know who would’ve been triggered by genetics anyways.
    4) can’t calculate without #3.

Regarding #3, that’s the whole point of the study. We’re starting with the asssumption that autism is caused by either MMR or genetics or both. If someone in the non-MMR group had autism, then we assume it was triggered by genetics (because that’s the only possibility, based on our asssumptions). So we do have all the numbers we need, and therefore we can calculate #4.

As demonstrated above, it IS higher. The number calculate in the study is a false misleading number.

So you’re saying when the counted the number of children in the group and the number of those children who had autism, they counted wrong?

I’m talking about counting, 1,2,3, not calculations.

    Keej,

You’re making this way more complicated than it is.

The logic of this study is very straightforward:

    If P, then Q.
If not Q, then not P.
    Not Q, therefore not P

    Clear?

So now let’s plug everything in:

If [MMR causes Autism], then [the autism ratio in Group A should be higher than that of Group B].
If [the autism ratio in Group A is not higher than that of Group B], then [MMR does not cause Autism].

[The autism ratio in Group A is not higher than that of Group B] therefore [MMR does not cause Autism].
