MenoParticipant
Mod,
I figured that’s what it was, I’ve just never seen it. I guess it can mean “less than or greater than” which is a roundabout way of saying “not equal to”.
If a venomous snake bites another venomous snake, will the second snake die?
August 24, 2016 6:23 pm at 6:23 pm in reply to: Survey: Are you more frum than your parents or less frum than them? #1171128MenoParticipantSome would consider me OTD along with my parents
My kids are too young to be OTD
August 24, 2016 6:12 pm at 6:12 pm in reply to: are we allowed to discuss stuff from class on here and ask questions about it? #1171022MenoParticipantIf she was, I hope she didn’t get caught. She’s been awfully quiet for the past few hours.
MenoParticipantQuote from Gavra_at_work, upthread:
“as a geder, you can have your Ema or spouse (if you have one) on the phone the entire trip (my Rov’s suggestion when this question came up).”
MenoParticipantWhat does “<>” mean?
Does not equal to?
August 24, 2016 4:45 pm at 4:45 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174642MenoParticipantWho decided that the Torah’s word for boy (yeled, na’ar, whatever it is) actually means boy and vice versa?
Maybe there’s just no better English word to define it.
What’s the English word for “na’arah”?
August 24, 2016 4:31 pm at 4:31 pm in reply to: are we allowed to discuss stuff from class on here and ask questions about it? #1171020MenoParticipantAre you in the middle of an exam?
August 24, 2016 4:22 pm at 4:22 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174636MenoParticipantJoseph,
Where does the Torah use the words “boy” or “man”?
It uses the word “guy” but I think it’s referring to a place.
August 24, 2016 3:44 pm at 3:44 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174631MenoParticipantWho says “gals”?
MenoParticipantOh. So the question is really: Is he a goy?
MenoParticipantI don’t. They don’t have Bull or Chicken Fights where I live.
MenoParticipantIs there a not Jewish world?
MenoParticipantLU,
I didn’t ask the same question in both games. In the other game I asked if it’s Sparkly. Here I asked if it’s sparkly.
August 24, 2016 2:42 pm at 2:42 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174626MenoParticipantIs Kollel part of the workforce?
August 24, 2016 1:48 pm at 1:48 pm in reply to: Rabbi Yosef mizrachi is coming to my bar-migzvah #1170372MenoParticipantWhy would he get crazy?
Actually don’t answer that. I feel like this thread might not be a good idea.
August 24, 2016 1:44 pm at 1:44 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174624MenoParticipant“bananot”
Is that a typo? If not that’s pretty funny
August 24, 2016 1:27 pm at 1:27 pm in reply to: Is the $7600 per couple offer on the main page a scam??? #1180702MenoParticipantSeriously. It makes YWN look bad (even if they put in that line about not taking resposibilty blah blah…).
If you ask anyone who knows anything about credit cards they will tell you that it’s a scam.
Even if it’s questionable, a site like YWN should err on the side of caution and not accept the ad.
Are the Coffee Room Moderators the same people as the news/ad Moderators?
(are the moderators even people?)
August 24, 2016 12:35 pm at 12:35 pm in reply to: "Boy," "man," and "guy," "single," "married," and #1174620MenoParticipantWhen is the word “dude” acceptable?
MenoParticipantLU,
I think she was just surprised, not implying that you shouldn’t be here.
I find that it happens quite often here. You kind of develop a picture of someone in your head and then they reveal something which shows that the picture is way off.
MenoParticipantHealth,
I said.
Not sure what your point is. I was pointing out that your comment was difficult to understand because it contained unclear pronoun references.
MenoParticipantIs it Joseph?
MenoParticipantHow’s the job?
MenoParticipantThere’s nothing like a Yiddish’e Mamme’le
MenoParticipantHealth,
Who’s they? and them? and they? and they? and it?
MenoParticipantIs it sparkly?
(adjective, not proper noun)
August 23, 2016 3:02 pm at 3:02 pm in reply to: Are ther Bedouin who didn't wear hats during Davening #1176644MenoParticipantWho said anything about Yidden? He asked about Bedouins
MenoParticipantAlright I’ll agree with that. There’s certainly no specific age though
MenoParticipant🙂
MenoParticipant29,
Do you get paid on commission?
August 23, 2016 2:02 pm at 2:02 pm in reply to: Is the $7600 per couple offer on the main page a scam??? #1180697MenoParticipantThe coin deal is back. Who’s in?
MenoParticipantRight, but the comment to which I was responding said that self includes spouse and children
MenoParticipantlilmod ulelamaid
Can I get your recipe for macaroni egg salad?
In exchange, I can teach you how to change a light bulb
MenoParticipantYou should be self-supporting by the time you have a self (including self, spouse, and children) to support, whatever age that may be.
MenoParticipantMaybe their purpose is so that we can get satisfaction and relief when we kill them. Maybe take our anger out on bugs instead of people.
MenoParticipantIs it Sparkly?
(the proper noun, not the adjective)
MenoParticipantDepends if you’re chareidi or modern orthodox.
But seriously, it’s not a good idea to ask for halachic answers/advice in the coffee room. You have no way of knowing where the answers are coming from. You should have a Rav or a Rebbe with whom you can discuss these things. You mentioned in another thread that you are going into 8th grade. It’s an excellent time to develop a relationship with a Rebbe
MenoParticipantSorry, I wrote a comment and I realized it didn’t make sense so I just edited it to say “-“
MenoParticipantDovid Lowy
MenoParticipantSparkly,
You have made it very clear exactly what you mean. My response remains the same. You have no idea what it’s like to raise kids.
August 23, 2016 12:41 pm at 12:41 pm in reply to: Are ther Bedouin who didn't wear hats during Davening #1176640MenoParticipantI didn’t wear a hat during davening. I’m not a Bedouin though
MenoParticipantHow important?
Zero important
MenoParticipant–
MenoParticipantIs it big?
MenoParticipantSparkly,
So basically you’re admitting that you have no idea what it’s like to take care of children, so you can’t possibly know that college is harder than raising children. Got it.
August 23, 2016 1:56 am at 1:56 am in reply to: Do you think it's ok to bring your kids to the beach? #1177340MenoParticipantHis mother?
MenoParticipanta hint? the whole point of this game is that you get 20 hints
MenoParticipantYea but lemon juice won’t make your hair red
MenoParticipantThat was a typo, he meant to say tornadoes.
MenoParticipantHey nathanfeder,
Welcome to the Coffee Room. While I don’t have any advice that is pertinent to your question, I would like to advise you to not get too discouraged by Joseph’s comments. He’s a regular here and he tends to be have very strong opinions about certain things. I’m not saying I necessarily disagree with him in this case, I’m just saying if you’re not familiar with his posting style it’s easy to get shot down.
August 23, 2016 1:09 am at 1:09 am in reply to: Can you guess the outcome of this true story? #1174839MenoParticipantI agree with Joseph.
It would be much more interesting if it were just a hypothetical story, and the question was “What should Player 2 do?” or something like that.
Right now it’s just a guessing game.
