    tznius,

If he doesn’t talk to girls it’s gonna be a really awkward date. Would he at least let girls talk to him?

When I was a kid I hated pieces in my pasta sauce. The only brand I would eat was Pathmark brand. Even Shoprite brand had too many pieces.

“So making it more chili like sounds appetizing.”

So then just call it chili. Don’t make chili and pretend you’re making chulent.

They actually do, and not just in Borough Park.

EDIT: Wait I get it. You were making a joke. Chulent “meet”.

Is this something you made up or did you actually see it somewhere?

Would you put it in your chulent?

“Maybe I need to make it myself because for some reason using ground meat sounds good”

Don’t come back later saying I should’ve warned you

As for the hot dogs, you’re probably better off just serving hot dogs and then making chulent without any meat. It just ruins the hotdogs and doesn’t add anything to the chulent.

Are regular baby wipes made of cotton?

Also, they sell shabbos baby wipes at Jewish stores and they are not expensive at all.

” First response from my LOR “wow youve changed. Second, i find no problem in people who dont braid their hair.” So much so do i believe that this would be his response that i dont want to waste his time asking him.”

Wait, so you just quoted your LOR’s response without actually asking him?

“What happens if you use ground meat?”

You ruin the ground meat, while adding minimal flavor to the chulent.

And don’t even think about using hot dogs.

It’s labeled flanken. Any kosher store should have it out on the shelf. If it’s not there ask the guy.

Also marrow bones add a lot of flavor to the chulent. You only need one or two for an average size chulent.

Flanken all the way. It’s a bit expensive but it’s totally worth it if you can swing it. Some Kosher stores sell the ends which have more fat and bones, but it’s cheaper and it still works.

It makes the chulent taste really good, and the meat itself tastes good too.

“Meno & Geordie are saying two different things.”

I didn’t say anything. Artscroll says like Geordie said. Joseph pointed out that in the year 2100 the secular date on which we normally start saying it will change, so I was just asking what will happen to all the siddurim that say to start on the 4th. It was kind of a joke, that’s why the Mod responded with a joke.

It’s quick but the length of the resulting strips of tissue varies depending on whether they’re from the inside or the outside of the roll.”

My father uses a box cutter, it works really well. Once I got married I wanted to do it also, but my wife doesn’t like the varying lengths

    LU,

If an experienced therapist who was recommended by an experienced Rav said that’s the way he works, I don’t feel it’s my place, nor do I have the audacity, to say that he’s doing it wrong.

Also in this case, where the wife only agreed to five sessions, it’s possible that a conventional approach won’t work, so maybe something a bit more aggressive would be better.

“Is my counselor wrong? Is there anything in the ethics that say the counselor can’t try keeping marriages intact where one party just wants a divorce?”

There’s nothing ethically wrong with it, it’s just not generally how counseling/therapy works. A counselor/therapist might help you come to conclusions and make decisions on your own, but generally won’t give you straight advice or try to convince you one way or another.

Of course, there are different methods, and if your counselor said that’s how he works, then there’s nothing wrong with that.

“marriage counselors wouldnt have jobs if everyone was happily married”

I hate when people say stuff like this. I’ve even heard big Rabbonim say stuff like this.

It gets me so worked up I don’t even know where to start.

“Although, I do find it hard to believe that anyone finds it so easy to get divorced, unless they don’t have kids yet or maybe have one or two.”

I should’ve clarified. I didn’t mean divorce is a simple solution in the sense that all problems will miraculously disappear. I meant that it’s simple in the sense that you just “pull the trigger” and then it’s done, you don’t have to put any work or effort into it. Granted, the problems that come afterwards might be worse than the original problems.

This might be similar to what ZD is saying, but I think in the past, since divorce wasn’t common, it wasn’t considered an option.

People who had marriage problem either learned to fix them or learned to deal with them.

It’s much more difficult to work out a solution to a problem if you know there is an alternative solution which is much simpler and equally acceptable.

“gameplan is for counselor to convince my wife…”

Just a heads up, a good counselor won’t try to convince you or your wife of anything. That’s not how therapy/counseling works.

Also, knowing that she only committed to 5 sessions will make the counseling very stressful. It sounds like you had no other option, but that’s just the reality. It’s unreasonable to expect a major change of heart from just 5 counseling session.

    LU,

It’s not the same as other pas haboh b’kisnin, because it is a shailoh whether they are actually pas haboh b’kisnin at all, or if they are just like regular mezonos (e.g. pasta). Therefore even if you eat the shiur, whereas with pas haboh b’kisnin you certainly have to bentch, with sufganiyot there’s a safeik if you should bench.

I believe the fact that it’s filled with jam just removes it from the category of actual pas, but it can still be pas haboh b’kisnin, in which case you would have to bentch if you ate more than a certain shiur.

They are deep fried. There is a dispute among poskim whether deep fried dough has the status of pas haboh b’kisnin

“i just finished eating 2 of them”

    Did you bentch afterward?

Sufganiyot present a serious Halachic shailoh regarding brachos. I once had a Rebbe who said “a y’rei shomayim doesn’t eat two sufganiyot”.

I think he said one of the only ways to avoid a shailoh is if you ate a sufganiyah in a sandwich with actual bread.

I graduated from RTMA a while back. I’m think it’s changed a bit since then, but back then I found it to be somewhere in the middle of the spectrum. There were maybe one or two black hats in my class. Also probably one or two people whose families weren’t shomer shabbos. Most of the people were towards the middle.

I found that I came out with a solid education in both Limudei Kodesh and limudei chol.
