MenoParticipantWell jakob, I have heard of supply and demand. Have you?
MenoParticipantVERY VERY USEFUL IPHONE TIP:
THROW IT IN THE GARBAGE!
YOUR CHILDREN WILL THANK YOUMy cousin who’s not so frum, whatever, threw his iphone in the garbage.
His kids didn’t thank him.
Maybe they’re not so frum either, whatever.
MenoParticipantI heard it wasn’t a great movie.
I didn’t see it myself – I have a cousin who’s not so frum, whatever, so he told me.

MenoParticipantJoseph,
None of those sources discusses nursing in public
MenoParticipantJoseph,
Bringing 10 bad sources is not nearly as effective as bringing one good one.
MenoParticipantGadolhadorah.
Thanks, but as an Orthodox Jew, I’m really only interested in what Torah sources say. I don’t care what U.S. Law says regarding this.
MenoParticipantA lot of definitive statements being thrown out here. Not a lot of sources.
MenoParticipantWhy not just fill your pillowcase with pennies?
MenoParticipantDear Stores, Purim is next year.
I don’t think stores read the CR. They’re not even people.
MenoParticipant…insane asylum victims
Is that a thing?

No analogy. It was just a story relating to stud finders.
MenoParticipantYea I threw mine out when it started turning green
August 23, 2017 3:34 pm at 3:34 pm in reply to: What’s a girl to do if her father is not a Talmid Chacham? #1346326MenoParticipantI once had to put up shelves in a closet but I didn’t have a studfinder so I just drilled a bunch of holes until I found a stud and then measured from there.

Funny. I would think exactly the opposite
MenoParticipantI saw the partial eclipse through the special glasses. Didn’t look 3D at all.
Waste of a dollar.
August 23, 2017 11:59 am at 11:59 am in reply to: How could a multi-billion dollar thief do teshuva? #1345686MenoParticipantTeshuva is never impossible.
Never say never
MenoParticipantSome people get satisfaction from capturing a good picture.
MenoParticipantWho are you guys talking to?
MenoParticipantNever been to one, but I think it’s something in between an emergency room and a regular physician’s office. Like for things that aren’t urgent enough for emergency rooms, but too urgent for your regular doctor (unless your doctor can see you on-the-fly).
The idea is to clear up emergency rooms for real emergencies.
Also the copay is usually lower than emergency rooms.
August 21, 2017 3:16 pm at 3:16 pm in reply to: Let’s Hock About The Woman On The Bus Who Refused To Move #1343609MenoParticipantI was on a bus with a bunch of girls last last month.
I was trying to listen to the latest amazing song which I was playing really quietly on my cassette player, but there was this girl who was talking so loud I couldn’t even hear the music.
She must not have realized how loudly she was talking on a public bus…
MenoParticipantIt still exists
MenoParticipantWhy is this in rants?
August 20, 2017 9:36 am at 9:36 am in reply to: Eclipse! Freaking out about driving during the eclipse. #1342849MenoParticipantI think it’s impossible to stare directly at the sun at any time other than during an eclipse.
Your eyes would automatically turn away since it’s so bright.
MenoParticipantSo, sefardi guy, when do you buy your kidsโ school supplies?
Or do you not buy them at all, because only losers who like school come prepared?
MenoParticipantWhy do you need a degree?
MenoParticipantRebYidd, don’t be silly. Children aren’t real people.
MenoParticipantIn your opinion, when should stores start advertising and selling school supplies? The day before school starts?
THEY CANT USE THE KIDS TO MAKE [M]ONEY
What’s that supposed to mean?
MenoParticipantKudos to the webmasters for giving out free advertorials to Klall organizations, that cannot always afford to purchase online advertising space for worthy causes, but are desperate to get their important messages out to the public.
I don’t think they’re giving free advertisements, I think they’re just not labeling the ads properly. On the old site they used to clearly write “COMMUNICATED CONTENT” but they don’t do that anymore.
It’s both annoying and dishonest to post a paid advertisement as a news story. (I don’t think the developers/editors do it on purpose, I’m just pointing out that it comes across this way)
MenoParticipantBump.
With the new system, there are some ads which are not labeled as such. The only indication is the word “promotions” in the URL.
The following is an example:

What kind of simchas do you attend?
Stop making up stories to justify your hatred of frum Jews
August 10, 2017 2:00 pm at 2:00 pm in reply to: Tight-fitting clothing and tznius โ the elephant in the room #1336321MenoParticipantEven at home, its best to avoid such commentary since its so easy to frame the comments in a way that is misunderstood or makes the recipient feel uncomfortable.
This is excellent advice. I never comment on my wife’s appearance (or give her compliments in general) out of concern that it might make her uncomfortable.
MenoParticipantTurn up the air conditioner? Or turn down the air conditioner?
MenoParticipantAlso what does it mean when the “eruv is up”?
If it’s referring to the string commonly referred to as “The Eruv”, I don’t want it to be “up”, I want it to be at the appropriate height to allow for a valid eruv chatzeiros – not too high, not too low.
MenoParticipantThen bring it to your Rav. If he still says do not do anything then get a second opinion from a very respected Rav and show them the recording. If all fails and you have the recording to back you up call the cops.
So your suggestion is to go to two rabbonim and then not listen to them unless they give the desired psak?
MenoParticipantWhy don’t you ask your rov again, now that it happened again?
If you don’t plan on listening to him, why did you ask him in the first place?
MenoParticipantI once called the cops on my non-Jewish beighbor because I heard screaming.
The cops never showed up.
August 9, 2017 12:23 pm at 12:23 pm in reply to: chulent making tips and secret ingredients #1335140MenoParticipantThere are a variety of new soy-based proteins that look and taste nearly exactly like real meat…
You’ve clearly never had a real good chulent. I feel for you.
MenoParticipantIn my day (30 years ago) taking date to a restaurant was โnormalโ even in yeshivish circles. It is not pretzus.
Tell that to Joseph
MenoParticipantNot all words are created equal, regardless if they define the same type of person
Beautifully said. It really doesn’t answer my question though.
MenoParticipantHow about we stop using the term goyim as a whole? It clearly possesses a significant, negative connotation to a group of people who have done you no harm.
Why would it be worse than any term referring to a person who isn’t Jewish?
MenoParticipantIโm not complaining whatsoever…Iโm inquiring why any girl would complain.
They don’t complain. They just inquire why dating is so hard.

MenoParticipantI’ve been married long enough to know that complaining that women have it easy never turns out well.
MenoParticipantDoes the brocha acharona cut off the food or does it cut off the brocha rishona?
I think those would be the two tzdadim
MenoParticipantIs this a bad omen for America?
I’ll have to check my tarot cards

You are completely missing the point.
No one is saying we shouldn’t use smartphones because people got along fine without them for thousands of years.
The point being made is that it is rude to take out your cell phone while being menachem avel.
Ayyyy, but you’ll ask, maybe that guy was waiting for an important call, so maybe it wasn’t actually rude?
To that, DovidBT responded: “People managed to deal with that for thousands of years without carrying phones with them everywhere they go.” (i.e. he can wait a few minutes to check his phone, or if it’s that urgent he could step out)
MenoParticipantbetter just save up to buy a house so at least your monthly pay will go to a mortgage versus just rent
And houses in Boro Park go for how much?
