How exactly is the City of New York recycling my leftover chulent and chicken bones?

I’m not sure I want to hear the answer.

I was once in a college class (R”L) and the professor went on a whole rant about how we don’t read the news so we don’t know what’s going on in the world, so a guy in the class called out:

“Whadya mean?! I get Yeshiva World on my Blackberry!”

This brown garbage can has my address on it.

And it’s little, but not in a cute way.

    I don’t want it.

So some people do hatoras nedarim with a few people at once so it takes less time (i.e. they have 6 people, 3 are dayanim and 3 are the people asking, and then they switch).

    What’s the deal with that?

Also, I saw in the Artscroll Hebrew siddur (Nusach Ashkenaz) it says “יש שאומרים אותו בפני ג” (or something like that)

Are there those who say you can do it with less than 3 dayanim?

Is that a rhetorical question? Because I can think of at least one difference.

We read here frequent complaints about how yidden often fail to pay attention to the upkeep of their homes relative to their neighbors…

    Gadolhadorah,

    Who’s “we”? Where’s “here”?

I’ve never read any such complaints on YWN.

I’ve said this before and I’ll say it again: Please stop making up stories to justify your hatred of religious Jews.

Why do you need a picture of a happy couple to teach you to love your spouse?

Why do many shuls hire a professional shaliach tzibur for yomim noraim? The words are all the same. I’m sure they could find someone in the shul who can get up there and say the words correctly.

The answer is that a good shaliach tzibur can be inspiring, and can therefore cause one to daven better.

The same can be said about this picture. It’s not teaching a lesson which you couldn’t learn anywhere else, it’s inspiring (or at least it is to some people). Knowing the right thing to do is very often not enough. You need something to inspire you to do it.

And if one says that R’ Wosner’s expression is showing how to relate to one’s wife, then it would technically be enough just to show his face, with a caption stating that he was looking at his wife at the time of the picture.

The picture is inspiring. The picture and caption that you describe don’t sound nearly as inspiring. Inspiring things often lose their effect if you explain them too much.

Why wouldn’t she do it with steak?

Ground beef is just ground steak. Probably a different cut, but the salmonella doesn’t know the difference.

Oh and if you dont mind I usualy sit here please allow me to find you a seat that is available. would you like to be closer to the Air conditioner or further? and here is a Chumash for laining.”

In 9 out of 10 cases, the guest will feel much more comfortable if you left out the two lines about the seat. No question in my mind.

I agree that it’s much worse when the member comes late (whatever “late” means), but I think it’s still a problem even when both people are on time.

The only way I could possibly be OK with it is if:
    1) The member ASKS the guest to move in a VERY polite way.
    AND
    2) The member finds the guest another seat which he is absolutely sure is available.

This may not be the case for everyone, but for a lot of people (myself included) it’s uncomfortable to daven in a new shul where you don’t know anyone. Being asked to move just multiplies that discomfort.
