Sometimes I just combine two containers so that I end up with one container full of just herring and I leave a container of oil and onions for the next guy.

Eating or not eating something Kosher by any standards just because it was not eaten in The alter Heim is not Frumkite

    Again, who said otherwise?

If you search, you will find numerous postings….

I’ve searched, and have found no such postings.

Here’s this thread in a nutshell:

    CR Posters: “Kugel is good”

Gadolhadorah: “Why eat kugel when tofu is so much healthier and just as good?”

CR Posters: “Because tofu is gross”

Gadolhadorah (and zahavasdad, to an extent): “The fact your grandparents didn’t eat a certain food doesn’t make it treif”

    Did I miss anything?

There are obviously many CR posters who passionately hold that eating anything their bubbah and zeidah didn’t eat in the Alte Heim is like eating chazerfleish

GH, can you please show me one post which indicates anything like this?

if something is deemed to be kosher, but not something eaten in the Alte Heim that is should be avoided

    ZD, same question to you.

If I didn’t know better, I would think you both were deliberately trying to bash frum Jews.

This is her chance to say what she really thinks and take down her enemies within the seminary.

Actually a great idea. Let her get up there and say that she was asked to speak but the seminary didn’t adequately prepare her for that, so she has nothing to say.

I just watched the video again. I agree with Joseph. The kid had no idea what he was saying, and if he was crying it was before the guy even started talking. The guy wasn’t even yelling.

People yell at kids all the time.

I’m not saying it’s a good thing, but sending someone to jail for yelling at a kid will send you down a very slippery slope.

Furthermore, the coolness inside your house is balanced by the increased heat generated by the other half of the AC (which sits outside your window). So equilibrium is restored.

The A/C actually gives off more heat on the outside than it removes from the air inside. Maybe the fact that it’s making it hotter outside should be an issue.

Basic politeness (good morning, good evening, etc.) is certainly fine.

I wouldn’t make a blanket statement like that.

Wait, are we talking about sudden death or untimely death?

They’re not necessarily the same thing.

Either way, both terms are very broad terms so the question is basically meaningless.

I wouldn’t be too sure about this. Even if there are aliens out there somewhere, It would be very unlikely that they have cars.

in reply to: What’s your wallet? #1503922

I used to use a bi-fold wallet. Then I realized there were just a lot of extra layers of material for no real reason (probably more wallet than contents). So I switched to a no-fold type thing. It had slots for credit cards, a clear window for driver’s license, and also a metal clip on the side for cash. Then I realized that I don’t really need separate pockets for each card, I don’t need a clear window for my driver’s license (if I ever have to show it, I have to take it out anyway – I’m not handing over my whole wallet), and I don’t carry a lot of cash. So I just recently switched to a single clip. I have all of my cards, license/registration, and cash in one stack clipped together.

I’m still getting used to it but I like it.

    NO

    Finally, a straightforward answer.

    Now, two follow-up questions:
    1) Why not?
    2) Are you sure?

Ok so let’s say I have leftover flour from the matzah bakery. I’m sure it hasn’t come in contact with water.

Let’s also pretend it’s not dangerous (because I’m not actually planning on doing this).

I found it fascinating that none of the letters actually express support for him or what he did. Nothing political or ideological. They just express a general attraction toward him as if he were a regular person.

That’s why I called it a strange phenomenon.

Here’s my take on the situation (and brisim in general):

You should do whatever makes you happy and feels comfortable. You should absolutely not feel pressured to go out of your way and be matriach your family to make sure the entire community has a lavish breakfast (unless the community members are volunteering to take the night shift with the baby for a week).

Several people took videos of themselves driving on that same road at the same time of night and the road is pretty well-lit.
