    I was so happy i had davened with a minyan when they started getting the torah. I thought it was because I davened in a chassidish place and they never say tachanun until the guy next to me pointed it out. We planned on going out after shacharis to get married but then we decided to learn instead. Classic excuse. They all use it. Maybe I’ll get married next year. Perhaps the year after I eat fruit on the other Holiday of tachanun.

    Yeah i suppose some people just get kares and some people just dont and either way is cool. I dont hate kares people. they’re all my brothers. so I guess thats settled.

    what do you mean by settled? was some authoritative source quoted or did some taavah driven person tell you the thoughts of their twisted mind? Kares is not something to play around with. Really. It is sad.

    I refer to those who think its anything other than a recipe for kares to act with someone who is not your wife as if she is your wife. There may come a time when i may have to hit a son of mine, but i don’t practice on kids who are not my sons.

    I really would like to think you people are intelligent but you don’t make it easy. I guess maybe i can convince myself that some non-jews have an interest in this site. Thats what i can come up with to picture a person so devoid of torah values. My lords bible gives the impression that there is a difference between marriage and not marriage. Even in terms of how you should act. The difference is not just a piece of paper. The paper has halachic ramifications.

    I’m loving the irony. everyone seems to think its a good idea to compliment a lady who is not your wife on her appearance. in fact s2021 thinks she should not marry you unless you verbalize this. asking to marry her is not proof enough? on the other hand many dolts find it unreasonable to not want to marry a fat lady. how can a guy be so vain. badabapapa. i’m lovin’ it.

    some people suggest that for the sake of saving the masses, boys should sacrifice themselves and date older girls.

    Perhaps in a similar way, girls should sacrifice themselves and not date until it evens out the numbers and the guys come begging.

    Until then guys are just going to lay back and say “supply-and-demand, m’lady, supply-and demand”

    You want retroactive ideas??

    Anyway, the rule is that outoftowners get two dates. This can be compared to the fact that if you decide in the middle of the date that she smells like your pet alligator you dont just take her home but rather finish the date.

    @ursula

    You wanted to know the diff between pretending to shoot someone and pretending to insult them.

    I suppose the diff is that the consequences in the event you are wrong are much more severe in the case of the fake murder. If a couple of friends are sitting around chilling and one draws a gun I would advise ducking even though he is your friend and they are probably blanks, But if you are sitting around with friends chilling and one starts calling the others twits I would advise them not to go to their respective rooms crying because that really isn’t necessary and if indeed he was trying to insult them, they haven’t lost out by not being insulted.

    @emlf

    You assert that you dont care how this started. You also say we are acting differently than R’ Pam.

    A non caring attitude is not a problem as long as you stay out of it. If you dont care AND you get involved, well thats just disturbing.

    As for the diff between us and R’ Pam- Yeah, what of it? I’m not R’ Pam and you’re not R’ Pam so keep him out of it.

    @coffee addict

    You contend that it is obvious that I only espoused my slur to be a joke after everyone started getting all hypersensitive.

    At this point it may serve a purpose to repost that which was taken down by the mods: The question was asked “do ashkenazim take showers during the nine days?” One unnamed bar shattya responded “my hair is still wet from the shower. Yes I”m ashkenazi, you dolts.” Now the shrewdness of this mode of insult was mainly that it wasn’t aimed at anyone except those who would think that he would post a personal experiance which had nothing to do with the discussion- meaning if he was sfardi- but noone would think that and consequently noone was being called a dolt.

    You also contend that I will not apologize because as you stated I am a teenager.

    It sure is hard to respond to a made-up premise. YOU say that I’m a teenager and then you go researching my psychology based on your made up information. I don’t know. Sounds to me that you are just causing yourself undue stress.

    @minyan gal

    You contend that since the purpose of this thread is only to teach one poster not to insult people, therefore it is inappropriate and adorable seems to agree with you.

    First of all your premise is wrong and second of all your therefore is wrong. Your premise is wrong because you dont appreciate each jew and how important it is to straighten out each persons hashkafas. That is what this website is all about. Your therefore is wrong because even if you are right that each jew is not important and we should just let people be wrong, I dont understand why you have to try to stop people from helping the yochid.

    Really??

    I don’t actually follow your cheshbon. What did you find funny about the story of bar kamtza? Which member of the story was trying to be funny?

    As for Rav Pam, I’m sure there are lots of things that I say that he would never say. My point was that he was sensitive to the nuances of the words used. The nuances are very important when communicating. I figure with his attention to detail he would have noticed the choice of slurs and its broad use of calling everyone a dolt and at the same time noone in particular.

    Don’t know what the big deal is about the xanax, when the other poster offered to pay for it.

    Furthermore it should be noted that the poster didnt call anyone in specific a dolt except joseph.

    There is something called dvarim sheblev uvlev kol adam. this means that everyone knows it is a joke. saying different would just be lying.

    But the real dolt is the person who didn’t figure out that “always here” is joking. How do I know? I am “always here”. I have been switching browsers logged in with my two screen names, dolty

    always here says

    Peacemaker~ unwarranted name-calling was & is inappropriate. JMHO.

    I believe that if it had been said in normal everyday speech usage terms, it would’ve been edited

    Your favorite bar shattya says

    You are such a genius. That is exactly why it was not said in normal terms. When something is said in funny terms everyone knows it is a joke and takes it in good taste and humor, you edited

    Yes and there should be a tea room for people like me.

    oh boy, always, we really got everyone thinking we were fighting. i havent had this much fun since I drank the shlivovitz at my granson’s vort when my wife was too busy kvelling.

    Maybe the nine days is not the time for this, but it’s the only time I can get away from my wife’s boiled chicken and kasha varnishkes. (Ok, maybe I can’t get away from the kasha). I was laughing so hard my teeth rattled. Thanks for being such a good sport.

    I have a cousin in yeshiva. He’s 45.

    if you thought bs was a teenager, how wud that prove he’s immature. i know a mature teenager.

    If you thought my posts were immature, what does that have to do with age? there are plenty of middle age babies.

Why would i care if someone walked up to me in real time live and started singing “dolty dolty dolty” dolty dolty dolty”? I guess i would care if my fathjer called me a dolt and meant it.
