“I especially like complaining that we have shidduch resumes, but also that they are too short”
Rabbi Weissman switches between straight forward criticism and sarcastically approval (really more criticism).

Thank you for your explanation.December 23, 2022 1:47 am at 1:47 am in reply to: Frum LinkedIn Users with He/Him or She/Her in their profile? #2151066MDGParticipantThis pronoun thing is to normalize immoral behavior.
MDGParticipantI get the impression that the boy thought he was funny. He didn’t understand the pain he caused.
MDGParticipant“MDG, technically, whoever inherited ownership of Hordus could have freed him.”
Yep, but he killed them all in the house of the Hashmonayim. No heirs.
MDGParticipantHerrod could not have been freed as a slave because only a master of the slave can free him. Herrod killed all of them, so he retained the halachic status of slave forever.
MDGParticipant“When two people are working they have nothing to fall back in case of financial emergency.”
I think you mean when two people are needed work to make ends meet…“The husband needs to gain better skills to make more money. ”
That’s so patriarchal cisgender heteronormative. Get with the program or get cancelled.“Education needs to be cheaper.”
The reason it’s so expensive is because the government gives out so much money for student loans, that the universities can jack up the price and still get the tuition.“Housing is to expensive.”
That’s just supply and demand. If Sen Warren doesn’t understand that, she should not be making any economic policies.MDGParticipantMarjorie Taylor Greene has said some dumb and offensive stuff, but has apologized. Why? Because her party doesn’t agree. Maybe she has done teshuva.
Ilhan Omar has said some antisemitic stuff but gets rewarded by her party. No change of mind. In fact, The Democrat party has emboldened her.
MDGParticipant“Any radicalism is no good on either side.”
True ,but the radicalism of the left is accepted in the mainstream left and pulling it lefter and lefter. For example, ilhan Omar made antisemitic comments and pelisi still appointed her to a couple foreign relations committees.
Otoh, people like David duke have been rejected by the right for their hate speech.
MDGParticipantTo the original question:.
The reason why people vote Democrat so much is for all the freebies.Reb E, it seems to me that you are out of touch with the modern Democrat party. Spend some time on a college campus and see the radicalism being pushed.
MDGParticipantAll five answers above have to do with taking the Torah and the status it brings for granted. That can lead to arrogance, which is part of answers 2 through 5.
May 24, 2022 8:08 pm at 8:08 pm in reply to: Should we try to encourage Mashichists and Elokists to return to the fold? #2090456MDGParticipant“The preoccupation with identifying the Rebbe (zatza”l) as Moshiach is clearly contrary to the Rebbe’s wishes.”
Can you provide proof?
Based on the way his followers have referred to him for several decades now, it seems to me hard to believe.
MDGParticipant“the BY is as good as any other Hashgaha…”
I should have said as good as any other reliable Hashgaha
MDGParticipantAn Israeli-American friend of mine explained that when the BY Hashgaha first came out, they went by the book. The problem is that “the book” – Shulhan Aruch for example – does not teach what to do concerning complex industrial situations that may include tricky business owners. Following the book may not be enough. It’s not Baghdad in 1700.
He told me that they have since updated their practices, and the BY is as good as any other Hashgaha.
MDGParticipantCharlieHall said “All of them that I have heard simply refer to him as “The Rav”, reflecting his high stature.”
Outside of the YUii world (almost) no one calls him that
MDGParticipant“That is to say many people don’t even know who these giants were ….”
The students of RYBS don’t even know who he was. Every one of them has a different understanding of what he said and meant. Whenever I hear someone quote “the Rav”, I kind of tune out and think, “this is what the speaker wants to say”
MDGParticipant“The Maharsha explains that Pharaoh went to Jewish midwives and not to mitzryim because they would be responsible for murder. So by the goyim viability is at conception”
Maybe Paroh did not want Hashem to punish him, so he just someone else to do the dirty work.
Paroh clearly feared Hashem’s punishment, as tried to avoid it by being Wiley with how he killed the baby boys.MDGParticipantReb Eliezer,
Your proofs are inconclusive.
There is a difference between what happens and what one can claim in court.
In the dor hamabul, for example, they stole less than a pruta. That still is theft done by thieves, but not claimable in court.MDGParticipant“The facts are that the first person killed had no deadly weapon”
That person was reaching for a firearm. It happened to be owned by Rittenhouse.
MDGParticipantI would put on my left shoe first and tie the right first.
MDGParticipantI might tie my left shoe first.
MDGParticipant“Lubavitch believes their Rebbe is Hashem.”
Some have implied such. I remember reading on Bais Moshiach magazine many years ago that included something like, “Hashem doesn’t need anyone to take care of him.”
I’ve seen elsewhere the Rebbe was referred to as Boreinu.
“not only has the Rebbe never proclaimed anything similar to this but he was openly against Chassidim who did.”
Any proof for that statement?
That’s the first time I heard anything like that.
His followers have been talking about MaMaSh the Moshiach for decades. I would think that if he made a clear proclamation to stop, it would have been obeyed.MDGParticipantDo a web search on “ivermectin and India” and you can see it’s effectiveness. New cases and deaths drop precipitously.
I also found an article from the NIH that mentions its efficacy.
MDGParticipant“Reagan was a senile former Democrat, ”
He left the Dem party long before. His values that he pushed in the 80s are the same he spoke about in to 60s.“former Labor Union President,”
Well then, he knew evil from the inside.“the first divorced person to be elected President…some Family Values platform”
While divorce is not optimal, it seems that he did the best he could. You voted for Clinton, and he didn’t get divorced, but he’s no 3xample of family values.“and an actor, B grade at that.”
Totally superfluous.MDGParticipantI believe the OP is being sarcastic.

I find that hard to believe, as the Bavli Jews and the communities around them eat kitnyot.

This seems to me as a contradiction from what RMF wrote about CY milk there he said that if one never took on the “chumrah” – like it was put upon them from their family – then one can just start drinking Chala Companies.
Any thoughts?
MDGParticipantGH,
I intentionally left it vague when I said getting stuff done.
BTW, I don’t think Trump is/was as right wing as his image. He just capitalized on what would work for him. Similarly, I don’t think Biden is as left wing as many think he is (maybe some of the people around him are). He also is working the politics.
MDGParticipant“Listen to their public speeches, they all demonstrate the power to think. And to think about something other than themselves.”
Obama used to talk a lot about himself.
Besides which, we elect an president to get stuff done, not to be an academic. I’d rather have a simpler man with a good plan.
MDGParticipantReb Eliezer,
Just because some people go around the law doesn’t mean we should abolish the law.

October 24, 2020 11:06 pm at 11:06 pm in reply to: Is hydroxychloroquine really proven ineffective?? #1913049MDGParticipantGH,
Please stop writing “Trumpkopf”.
It makes you sound stupid.October 14, 2020 4:25 pm at 4:25 pm in reply to: Portland mayoral candidate spotted with skirt featuring photos of communist lead #1910015MDGParticipantTed Wheeler is hardly a centrist. He tacitly supported the antifa rioters by ordering the police to stand down while the rioters destroyed public and private property and threatened people.
Even after his apartment building was nearly set ablaze by the rioters, he still did not crack down on them. Only when Trump and the DOJ deputized the Oregon State Police – this changing the crime from local jurisdictions to federal – did the violence subside.
MDGParticipantCTL,
The Democrat party has changed drastically. It’s no longer the party of Kennedy or Clinton. It’s now the party of BLM and AOC – anti Israel, anti police, anti market economy.
MDGParticipantDr Hall, PhD said
“But a much better Chinese study found that it didn’t help. Nevertheless the Chinese study was small so clinical trials are underway. ”I don’t believe a word from the Chinese.
A doctor at Lennox Hill used it with good results.
Dr Zelesko used it with good results.Maybe the Chinese want to hoard it all for themselves.
MDGParticipant“The smallest fear causes the stock market to crash.”
It’s always been that way.
But overall, the market has done well under Trump.BTW I think the Corona virus will cause a huge market drop.
I sold off everything last week.
MDGParticipant“the pro lifers have such a big deal with abortions but dont have a problem putting people to death without witnesses nor proper evidence. ”
1 million innocent babies vs a few hundred quite possibly guilty adults. No comparison.
Besides an aino yehudi court can rely on Umdena, IIRC.
MDGParticipant” Trump is very far from a bastion of morality. ”
I view Trump as someone who knows good from bad, but has a hard time choosing the right thing because of desires or arrogance. On the other hand, I see that Democrats have a completely skewed version of right and wrong.
MDGParticipant“You are fooling yourself when it comes to abortion. No one does abortion for the sake of it. The rich will travel wherever it is allowed and the poor will endanger themselves.”
If it helps you to sleep at night to believe that abortion policy is immaterial, then sleep well.
But to your point, even if you outlaw something, there will be some who get around or break the law. That still is not a reason to permit something so heinous.
MDGParticipant“Helping people survive is also part of morality. Some peoole don’t make enough money to be able to pay their mortgage, health Care and tuition. The Republicans only care in helping ….”
50,000,000 slaughtered babies is far less moral
The stupid policies of CLinton caused the mortgage crisis 10 years ago.
The Republicans prefer school choice.MDGParticipant“Clinton didn’t lie under oath ….”
Yes he committed perjury. But was it with impeachment? I don’t think so.
MDGParticipant400 house members voted against Nixon.
Clearly bipartisan. The Clinton impeachment was not worthy, nor the Trump impeachment. In both, they did something possibly wrong. In my opinion, neither were impeachable offences. But both impeachments were clearly partisan.
MDGParticipant“They did it because the constitution assigns them the role of oversight of the executive branch.”
They were acting out of hatred, not responsibly. The House rushed through and did a poor job, then tried to tell the Senate what to do. The actual charges were not clear and concrete. Charging for overusing power, what does that mean? At that rate any president can be impeached if Congress dislikes any action any president makes.
In this case, Democrats were calling for impeachment for over 3 years. Clearly hatred.MDGParticipantThe Democrats realized that impeachment would not change anything. So did they go through with it?
To distract from their poor list of candidates.
To be able to point to Republic senators and throw dirt on them for this election. I.e. flip the Senate
Bragging rights, even if nothing gets done.

Notice it doesn’t specify demographics. It includes everyone.
Chareidim and Arabs make up most of that 33 percent.I heard a few years ago that 90 percent of secular Israeli Jews go to the army.
MDGParticipant“It seems to me that according to the Rambam, Talmud Torah 1:13, most
women don’t have the mental focus. Maybe they could if they really tried.”“Tell that to the women taking high-level university courses.”
First of all, taking such classes does not prove real Daat. It depends what they are studying. STEM OR poetry, education, or psych.
Even so, the Rambam agrees that there is a Miut who have such Daat.MDGParticipantמִפְּנֵי שֶׁרֹב הַנָּשִׁים אֵין דַּעְתָּם מְכֻוֶּנֶת לְהִתְלַמד
It seems to me that according to the Rambam, Talmud Torah 1:13, most women don’t have the mental focus. Maybe they could if they really tried.
Based on that, I don’t have a problem with (that minority of ) women who are learning Lishmah.
Practically, I am skeptical of many women who learn because they want to be like the boys. My impression from my conversations. -
