Since the classic case of Psik Reisha is cutting off a chicken’s head in order to use it as a ball (literally) presumably al pi din there is no inherent issur in playing ball. However, as plenty have mentioned, there are other concerns.
MCPMemberI’m pretty sure “knights” is supposed to be pronounced “ki-niggits”

MCPMemberEclipse, Insanity! is a workout video. It takes 60 days but gets you into great shape.
As an aside, I don’t think you should attempt to lose weight for shidduchim purposes unless you truly plan to keep it off once you are married/have kids. You want your husband to love you for who you are at all times, and if the 10-15 lbs will matter that much to him now they will matter then too.
MCPMemberWhy Did I Get Married?
(Just kidding)
MCPMemberOnly South of the Mason-Dixon.
If you think there is a chance you will marry her, all the more reason to talk to her, to increase simcha in klal yisrael!
September 13, 2013 1:27 pm at 1:27 pm in reply to: Friend wants to marry girl he met online #1187433MCPMemberPoor guy, with friends like this who needs enemies? Mazal Tov. I wish them the best.
September 11, 2013 5:45 pm at 5:45 pm in reply to: How to enforce Tznius guidelines in a Kehillah #976135MCPMemberLeyzer, women should mind their own business. They have no excuse that the improperly dressed women will cause them to be mistakel. Other than lifnei iver, how someone else dresses, and someone elses kavod for the beis knesses, is none of your business. You can say that you prefer women dress a certain way, you can have the Rav talk about it. But I would bet that God would prefer the prayer of a sincere woman who’s skirt is an inch to short than that of a self righteous sanctimonious enforced who would prefer to drive someone away from yiddishkeit than allow them to daven with their chosen kehilla.
September 10, 2013 2:40 pm at 2:40 pm in reply to: How to enforce Tznius guidelines in a Kehillah #976122MCPMemberNot covering the knees at all or not covering the whole knee? Which holy men are looking so closely?
We’re not talking about women in shorts and tank tops here. I would say just look the other way. That doesn’t mean that a gentle word (once) isn’t a good idea, but I personally don’t think it’s something to make a big deal over.
September 9, 2013 4:13 pm at 4:13 pm in reply to: How to enforce Tznius guidelines in a Kehillah #976109MCPMember“specifically, one standard which is clear Halacha, which no-one in the Shul can claim to have a Heter for”
Can you elaborate? Many “clear Halachos” are not as clear as they are made out to be. Additionally, I’m not sure what the issue is for the men – if there is a proper Mechitza they can’t see the women during davening anyways, and in the street, these women are no worse than anyone else the men will see.
I understand that you are looking for a solution to the problem, not discussions as to whether or not it’s your job to police the problem, but unless we have more information, it is impossible to ascertain whether it is actually a problem.
August 26, 2013 4:00 pm at 4:00 pm in reply to: For the Jewish Metalhead (I know you're out there). #1023435MCPMemberEulogist is a heavy metal band made of mostly frum guys. I know one of them. Can’t stand metal either, but their stuff sounds decent.
MCPMemberI certainly believe that our actions can affect our health, both spiritual and physical. I do not believe that any one of the things I mentioned are THE cause of anything else. To make a claim that one individual transgression, be it Lashon Harah, Tznius, or any other of the myriad causes of the day, is causing specific tzaros is apikorsus in my opinion. At best, it is trivializing the complicated way we are judged.
Furthermore, the manner in which these are thrown around is counterproductive to having any positive effect. The way to affect change is not via false fear mongering.
Also, I’d love to see the “befeirushe chazals” that say what causes cancer.
MCPMemberJF: You are obviously an apikores. Every sane believing Yid knows that cancer is caused by girls skirts being too short/too long, or maybe it’s lashon hara, or maybe it’s the internet, or maybe it’s guys who use foul language, or maybe it’s teenagers who hang out with the opposite gender! How can you not be aware of such a simple FACT!
August 19, 2013 7:11 pm at 7:11 pm in reply to: Best way to break in four-inch stilettos before Yom Tov? #971880MCPMemberI’d just like to point out that I haven’t seen one helpful comment yet. Which, of course, is why I use the CR for entertainment 🙂
August 19, 2013 3:56 pm at 3:56 pm in reply to: Best way to break in four-inch stilettos before Yom Tov? #971869MCPMemberVogue: Rock on. If you’re single, I have a friend who likes a girl in heels. I’ll tell him to join the CR and it can get shadchanus!
To everyone asking why she would wear stilettos: Maybe she is wearing the 4″ stilettos because her husband likes the way she looks in high heels (maybe she’s even my wife!). Maybe she’s single and trying to stand out like the shadchanim keep telling her. Or maybe she just likes to look good.
MCPMemberWIY is right. Sinas Chinam is allowed now cuz the 3 weeks are over, now it’s time for Judgement Day! (S)He is giving us practice being judged, and helping us by judging without knowing anything, so when it’s time to be Judged by a real fair impartial Judge who loves us, we will appreciate His Judgement even more. Thanks, WIY!
MCPMember@wallflower: “@What’s in a name–Find me a doctor today who’s on the level of the Rambam.” Find me a Kollel guy (or even a Rav or RY) who is on the level of the Rambam.
I know at least one doctor who is unquestionably on a higher level than anyone in the CR.

MCPMemberI have seen demons in Monsey, but they are my own.
July 26, 2013 6:30 pm at 6:30 pm in reply to: Why are there religious Jews who are pro-gay marriage? #968447MCPMemberI’m sure somebody above already mentioned this, but if gay marriage were to be outlawed, it would be because of the Christian right. Anybody who is not religious – jewish or otherwise – has no reason to outlaw gay marriage.
Now, if we allow religion to dictate law in america, the same religion that is the majority (hint:it’s not Judaism) can create other laws that would stifle our ability to serve God and obey His Torah. It is a very slippery slope.
Therefore, I am of the opinion that we should allow our elected representatives to make this decision that does not affect us in the slightest.
MCPMemberWritersoul – by even in Monsey I meant even in the less yeshivish neighborhoods I get strange looks occasionally. It’s just more fun in the yeshivish/chassidish neighborhoods.
MCPMemberWriter Soul, even in Monsey I get strange looks. Which honestly, makes it even more fun for me.
Burnt Steak – I’m not sure what bothers me more, your SN or Trance music. Unless you’re trying to imply that you wasted your opportunity to be great and there’s no turning back 😀
Shopinng – Sory, I wasnt tryng to say you shud listen. Just that its not all terible and inapropriate.
MCPMemberPerhaps instead of complaining that the army will force frum teens off the derech, time should be spent preparing them for the trials they will face instead of hiding them from the real world.
Just a thought.
MCPMember(takes a bow)
Shopping, I don’t particularly enjoy rap or pop, which is where you get the inappropriate lyrics. Not saying you should listen, just explaining further that not all secular music is inappropriate.
No point in naming specific songs – apparently the mods know to edit out any song that came out after 1990 only :p
MCPMemberI let Pandora choose for me. I was neither thrilled nor disappointed, but I was surprised so I stand by my decision (it was
Now, before you deride me for listening to secular music (or tell me it doesn’t count so I could have listened for the past 3 weeks) you should know that I work, wear colored shirts, and have been known to say Good Shabbos to people of the opposite gender, whether I knew them or not.
Just thought I would give the denizens of the CR the ammunition, I think many could use the headstart.
Fire away.
(no that wasn’t the first song that came up, vihamayvin yavin)
MCPMemberDY & Realist – You’re actually transgressing Lifnei Iver on yourself by going outside without blinders on. The reason the wording is “lifnei iver” is to teach us specifically in this instance that you should make yourself an Iver when it comes to chas vishalom seeing something inappropriate, make yourself unable to see and thereby unable to be nichshal.
See, I can make up a halacha or a drush just like you can!
MCPMemberKangaroos are actually remarkably good swimmers.
Penguins flew to colder climates but then their wings froze so now they can only waddle not fly.
One of these are true, the other is a figment of my imagination.
MCPMember“the best answer i heard in the name of Reb Reuvain Feinstein shlita when asked by someone if there is yichud in an elevator, he answered “for you there might be”
vihamevin yuvin”
I really hope he said this. It makes me happy.
MCPMemberApukerma, you can feel free to wait for a Navi or Bas Kol while people around you are targeted by the Arabs to be shot or blown up. This is not a milchemes rishus. This is self defense.
MCPMemberAnd thumbs up COTW
MCPMemberYes, let’s put down boys because we don’t have the self esteem to respect ourselves, great plan.
Here is my poem for why boys shouldn’t talk to girls:
Girls are evil, licentious, and more
They will lie to your face, stab their friends in the back
Think you only like them for looks
and possibly their snacks
Thank you very much.
Also, there are also good guys who talk to girls. I know that your Morah said boys are all bad, but in many of the situations I know of the girl was at fault for being too shallow, or for playing with the guy’s emotions, or lying to him about a variety of things.
There are bad guys and bad girls. That doesn’t make all guys or all girls bad. Use your own mind, don’t just spew the garbage that you’ve memorized but don’t believe.
MCPMemberI don’t get it. We won’t change a psak from 500 years ago even if science can prove the psak irrelevent to be matir something, why add extra issurim if the situation happens to be reversed? If someone wants to smoke that is their business, not yours. If we want to make the world a better place, we should spend more time fixing ourselves and less time “fixing” others.
MCPMemberFunny how Yiddish (or german) names were all the rage, yet people look down upon those who give English names.
MCPMember“other” kids don’t cause kids to go off the derech. parents, mechanchim, and rabbonim are the ones responsible.
MCPMemberWIY, teens were labeled before there was texting or facebook. You take validity away from teens with real questions when you lump them all together. They want to feel like the individuals they are.
MCPMemberLove it
no prob. hey, just thought of something – how about, “wanna know how I got this subtitle?” 😀
MCPMemberA little late to the party, but can I get ‘Why So Serious?’
March 7, 2013 5:26 pm at 5:26 pm in reply to: Everything is great, but I'm not sure if there is chemistry! #953663MCPMemberHow much would you miss him/regret it if you broke up? Consider your life without him. It’s not the end-all but it should help give you some perspective.
MCPMemberSF – I misspoke, I meant CR is more likely to be Assur than sports
MCPMember@Secular Frummy – The CR is probably more Assur than sports. My point was that anyone expressing disdain for those of us who play sports on a CR feed has no business being in the CR in the first place.
MCPMemberBy playing sports and being active one can add years to his or her life, and thereby have more time to learn/do chessed in later years. It’s not a waste of time, it’s an investment.
I know the gedolim don’t spend their time playing sports, but they don’t spend time in the CR either – does that make it assur? If yes, why are you commenting?
MCPMemberI highly doubt a real Rav said that, but if he did it’s probably because he doesn’t believe in chemistry anyways; once chemistry is a non factor why not marry for money? SMH
February 4, 2013 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm in reply to: How Do You Spend Purim Night After Breaking The Fast? #926044MCPMemberIf you drink enough at night you can be hungover enough to sleep the whole day, satisfying the shita that the way to be mekayem the mitzva of purim is to take a nap. That is why drinking at night is a mitzva.
MCPMemberMaybe you should be learning in Kollel instead of working

December 19, 2012 6:41 pm at 6:41 pm in reply to: A bit bothered by some advertisements in frum publications #1009190MCPMemberThe advertisers (and magazines) have a right to make a parnassah just like you do.
How rich people choose to spend their money is up to them. For all you know the guy with the $40,000 watch needs it to impress hotshot clients and along with the $40,000 he spent on the watch he also donated $400,000 to cover the tuition that you don’t pay because you are too busy ranting in the coffee room about how rich people spend their money and therefore have no time to work.
MCPMember“Nashim Daat’an Kaalos” – Everytime your wife does something that you think is stupid, remember that she’s not a guy. Also remember that at least one of your friends (we all have that friend) has a wife who is a billion times worse at the same thing, so really, you are lucky that this is all that it is.
