oomis
you remind me of something my ry wife said to me when i was starting to date and gave her a list of what i was looking for in a wife, one of which is that she “thinks” and she told me youre not going to find one (which im understanding to mean that they are few and far between) so if it was true that she is intelligent then yes i would work
July 9, 2012 10:55 pm at 10:55 pm in reply to: Responsibility to serve – without the politics #884289☕️coffee addictParticipantAs the Charedi population becomes the majority of the jewish population, more responsibility (and consequences) will come with it.
ZD, is that a boich svara (something you took out of thin air)?
the majority of America is female, therefore more responsibility falls on them? NO! (they’re even still called a minority)
total population: 0.97 male(s)/female (2011 est)
☕️coffee addictParticipantmdd
let me explain something to you
Israel has fought numerous wars over the course of it’s short history and most of it’s wins are miraculous, the chilonim didnt need the bachurim then and instead said it was b/c of kochi v’atzam yadi
the reason dovid, moshe and yehoshua needed an army is because you still need to do hishtadlus (its like saying why did they need to go to work in the times of dovid hamelech, it must mean Hashem doesnt provide for them)
☕️coffee addictParticipantThe Charedi population in Israel is growing much faster than the rest of the population. In Israel you cannot work unless you go to the Army.
At some point 50% and even further 75% of the jewish population in Israel will be Charedi.
How can you run a country when 50-75% of the population is in Kollel.
How can you defend the country when 75% refuses to serve in the Army,
1)change the rules so that you can work without going into the army
2)America stopped the draft a while ago and were safe as anywhere else, secondly who defends Israel, Hashem or the army?
☕️coffee addictParticipantsorry, but I don’t either
all these stories with dreams, I think, are Bubbemassehs
☕️coffee addictParticipantWe had a few days of 100+ in Haifa a few weeks ago. Air conditioners are for wimps. So are fans.

☕️coffee addictParticipantI think these passukim are talking about the American government (reference to eagle and stars (stars and stripes))
☕️coffee addictParticipantit’s also a cool type of sneaker
☕️coffee addictParticipantthis is old
☕️coffee addictParticipantI don’t think its right for me, and not interested in wasting this guys time
☕️coffee addictParticipantIt’s OK. It’s called spoofing.
I don’t think that’s the correct word
I know what you’re referring to, sort of what Uncle Moishy does, however I think I learned in my Legal Political and Ethical dimension of business that you can only do it as a parody
☕️coffee addictParticipantI know moski,
but that song is sooooo old there probably is a heter for it (copyright is only for a certain amount of years) i’m talking about recent tunes
☕️coffee addictParticipantoh I thought this was about jewish songs sung to goyish tunes (an example would be on second dance there is a tune that is beat for beat a goyish tune (they play it in my work, that’s how I know)) I won’t hijack this thread though, I’ll make my own
☕️coffee addictParticipantthats strange because we have a rule, amirasa l’gvoah k’miseerasah l’hedyotand vthat rule applies to tzedakah pledges even if its for an ad
☕️coffee addictParticipantthe additionally was going to a previous post which a mod blocked
(whistling)
also whistling
☕️coffee addictParticipantadditionally, mention that Hashem doesn’t let people into Gan Eden if they break a pledge (I don’t know it that helps though)

TAX
☕️coffee addictParticipantPBA,
you still didn’t answer my question,
and anyway if you really want a heter I can tell you that since the group you were in didn’t give chashivus for saying Tehillim (they sand HaTikvah before it) then you didn’t need to either, so you wouldn’t need to be Yotzei Min Haklal
☕️coffee addictParticipantMazal tov
☕️coffee addictParticipantI wanted to eat nuts and shmooze with my brother.
don’t you mean you wanted to BE nuts
Notice also, how it was my brother’s wife and not my wife who got on my case. My wife knows better.
did she get on your brother’s case too? (I’m guessing not, b/c she knows better too)
☕️coffee addictParticipantwhy didn’t you just get up again?
☕️coffee addictParticipantWhen we open the door on seder night we are opening it up for Eliyahu hanavi
I actually know of a chashuva family that has someone dress up as a “ghost” (Eliyahu Hanavi) right before Shfoch Chamascha
You are not permitted to say lashon harah about yourself.
(I know the story of the Chofetz Chaim)
I actually heard that the story was made up

☕️coffee addictParticipantI just posed the question if using the holocaust as a reference to personal pain is fair.
the question came from an assumption that that was what she was saying we’re trying to pose a different inference from her words
☕️coffee addictParticipantI see that she is getting the benefit of the doubt but i am not thats about what i expected.
are you looking to vent or ask a serious question (I’m horrible at helping people when they’re venting)?
secondly, we’re not not giving you the benefit of the doubt we’re trying to help you understand why she would say something like that
☕️coffee addictParticipantconnection
☕️coffee addictParticipantso I guess she was saying always look on the bright side, you could’ve had it a lot worse, be happy with what you have how far you came etc.
☕️coffee addictParticipantwell,

mine too these were from the ones i remember
☕️coffee addictParticipantOk here it goes (I know, I never liked grade school that much)
My worst is in 1st grade when we came back from recess our Rebbe told us to open our chumashim and I said “oh” he asked me to repeat myself so I said “I said Oh” and he told me to leave the class (I’m figuring he thought I said “No”)
My best was in 6th grade my Rebbe had a sort of game where four people made a grammen one would say one line then someone would have to come up with the second then someone with the third and last one with the last line and I was always so good at it.
☕️coffee addictParticipantIf there are insufficient seats for everyone, the children should allow the adults to sit instead of them taking seats.
let me quote part of the last mishna of Sotah
“before Moshiach comes……. Zekeinim (old people) will stand Mipnei(Because of) Kitanim (Children under 13)
☕️coffee addictParticipantone of my professors used to not give 100s and said the reason is because only G-D is perfect
