The Second time, My husband and close friend were there to witness it. If they can make it here, they can make it anywhere!! LOL. Okay so we don’t have lions, and tigers and bears, oh my!!
January 7, 2009 3:40 am at 3:40 am in reply to: Posuk in Tz’fanya (Trei Asar) About Zman Moshiach #630884mazal77ParticipantI have the book “secrets of the soul” there are two young men (Daniel and Binyamim) who commuicate through FC. They even have a website with their messages. http://www.dani18.com. Very intresting stuff.
mazal77ParticipantWell, with the abundance of Torah CD’s out there, you could listen while, you’re in the coffee room. While doing dishes or laundry as well, while driving in the car. Opportunites abound. All that is considered learning Torah as well.
mazal77ParticipantDoes anyone expect the world to love Jews. Through out History, we are always the scapegoats to all the world’s problem. They dream of a world with out jews. Little do they know that without jews, they wouldn’t be in this world either.
January 7, 2009 2:05 am at 2:05 am in reply to: Posuk in Tz’fanya (Trei Asar) About Zman Moshiach #630880mazal77ParticipantYes, I certainly feel it in the air and in depts of my soul. There is a major change going on. The Whole world is turning against Am Yisrael. There are many Genocidal chants at Demonstrations going on world wide!!!. In Ft. Lauderdale,Florida, at one of the Pro-Hamas rallies, a woman was chanting ” ” Jews go back to the ovens” Yes, in America. In Holland, Dutch Socialist Party MP Harry Von Bommel is seen chanting among others ” Hamas, Hamas,Jews to the Gas” “Jihad, JIhad” Also, in Melbourne, Austraila, Algeria, Montreal,Canada, New York. With coming in Office, Since we really don’t know what he will be like. He says he is Pro-Israel. Most of the Country expects him to bring “change to the world. Especially, regarding Mid-East Policy.
I don’t mean to scare anybody, but I don’t think things will get better till Moshaich comes. I think Hashem is trying to get us to return to Israel,ASAP. May He come soon. Like Now!!
mazal77ParticipantI think responbilty for children is good for them. In your Step-niece’s case, it is very excessive and a Rov should be consulted. I think some parents don’t realize what they are doing. No matter how many children you have, they need to be treated properly. I try to have some time with each child alone. Whether going to the store together, or ice cream, or a walk. Yes, it is hard to make the time, but you have to have your priorties.
mazal77ParticipantThis book is highly inspiring. Many people, frum and non-frum. even non-jews have read this book and were inspired. It is well written and written from the heart. Oomis, try to get your hands on this book. Her father, came to America, as a child, his family sent him from the old country by himself to stay with realitives. When demanded he pay rent, he resolved to be on his own. This was at the time where you either had to work or shabbos or find a new job every week. He had complete faith in Hashem. He was the father-in-law of one of our current gedolei Hador, Rav Chaim Pinchas Scheinberg, Shil’ta, may he be well.
mazal77ParticipantAll for the Boss was a wonderful book written by Reb. Ruchoma Shain, about her beloved father, Rav Yaakov Yosef Herman. She writes about her childhood growing up in the lower East Side. I highly recommend reading this book. It is a classic in English Judiaca and a must read for every jew.
mazal77ParticipantI have a problem with the phone calls. A few weeks ago, I had some organization that called 2-3 times a day. (I don’t pickup the phone all the time) When I did finally pickup and realized they were collecting, I asked them not to call me again. When I called back the number that showed on the call id, it said that the number was diconnected and no information was available. Since them I do not give any phone solicitations. If it was legitimate then, I feel I should be able to reach this organization. I wanted to let them know that calling 3 times a day was very excessive.
mazal77ParticipantI am davening for ALL our soliders and on what ever level they may be at. It’s time to get together. I just read a story about the army radio(secular) reading tehillim on Sunday. It brought tears to my eyes. I was so impressed. Maybe they will finally get it. Hashem is the one to turn to. There is no one else. The whole world is against us. Let the Jewish People unite.
mazal77Participantwell what about the stories of arabs who knew about 9/11. The cab driver mistook this woman for a good moslem. You know in this type of world that we live in, nothing like this should suprise us and Rosh Yeshiva, do you really think we are so safe in America?? Anything can happen.
mazal77ParticipantIn light of that situation that is now occuring in Eretz Yisrael and how most of the arabs feel about it, I would take any warning seriously. Be aware of your surroundings. Pray and do chesed, Shmirat Halashon, Say berachot aloud and have others say amen to your berachot, Have your children repeat tehillim word by word after you. Gedolim are calling for tefillah gatherings everywhere. Hashem is sending us messages very clearly of what he wants from us. He wants to call out to Him. He will not let us down if we do what we have to do.
January 4, 2009 7:01 pm at 7:01 pm in reply to: INFO FOR ANY YOM TEFILLA & TEHILLIM GATHERING #633018mazal77ParticipantToday at 4:00pm tehillim and selihot at Bnei Shaare Zion @ 2030 Ocean Parkway(Brooklyn) followed by Minchah at 4:25 pm. Come and support our troops.
mazal77ParticipantSame here, waaay past my bedtime. Good night to all and to all a good night or is it good morning? Yawnnn!
mazal77ParticipantAh, you’re no fun!!
mazal77ParticipantStaten Island??
mazal77ParticipantYou missed Brooklyn!! Are you from Brooklyn??
mazal77ParticipantNo more doughnuts and no more Latkes. I went to a Bar Mitzvah, tonight, they had doughnuts on the sweet table. My husband asked if I was going to eat one. I told him he had to be kidding me. I didn’t even want dessert. If I see another doughnut, it will be too soon.
mazal77Participantaye, aye captain, take it away. But I will thank you all for your lovely pics before we close. Never knew you could “draw” using symbols on the keyboard.
mazal77ParticipantRefue’ah Shleima, asdfghjkl
mazal77ParticipantChanukah’s over :?(, This thread is still going on?? Will it ever end??
mazal77ParticipantSome Judiaca stores still sell tapes but of old music. They don’t make new releases on cassettes anymore. At least your cassette player still works. Our car’s cassette stopped working a few months ago. Sometimes, my son lets us use his iPod with speakers in the car though with some kind of gadget that you can put through the lighter. If anyone can describe this function to lkjhgfdsa on how it works, be my guest. I just can’t describe things to well.
December 30, 2008 5:13 am at 5:13 am in reply to: IDF FINALLY POUNDING GAZA: OPERATION CAST LEAD #630268mazal77ParticipantHello, what about the Chevron massacre in 1929, before Israel was a state??
mazal77ParticipantMy kids don’t get much vacation. Anyway, who could afford to go away anyhow. Think, we will just hang out at home and hope for some snow to keep them happy. Last year we took them to the New Jersey State Aquarium in Camden for the day. It’s a nice INDOOR aquarium.
mazal77ParticipantI think i started a few weeks as well. The wig topic got me hooked.
mazal77Participantdon’t mean to insult anyone, but sounds like you to are flirting. Can we bstick with the doughnut receipe thread?? We’re talking doughnuts. Anyone with other receipes? How about a baked doughnut receipe for Brooklyn19 or other healthnuts?
mazal77Participantwhat happened to “HaHa”
mazal77ParticipantCan’t wait to give the receipe to my mom. She couldn’t write it down because she was busy cooking, so I read her the ingredients and she asked if there were eggs in it. She remembered my grandma also used eggs in her receipe. I wish I could taste from the batch you just made. Sounds yummy. 🙂
mazal77ParticipantI only buy and use regular canola oil and Olive oil in all my cooking. I don’t use vegetable and corn oils. Most of the oil I do use in cooking goes into my Challahs. One cup for a 5 lb flour bag.
mazal77ParticipantWe just make them once a year only and I only make them once throughout Chanukah. I personally do not fry during the year. So this is just a treat. Yummy delicous and made even more special because it is just for Chanukah.
mazal77ParticipantDidn’t see that you could use subsitutions for the Whole wheat flour and artificial sweetner. The way I see it,is if your going to fry them anyway, they aren’t healthy. May as well enjoy them the original way!!
mazal77ParticipantI forgot to add Lev Tahor to my list as well. They are great too. My 14 year old got into the Israeli singers, Gad Elbaz and Chaim Israel. The little ones will always have Uncle Moishy.
mazal77ParticipantA perfect topic. My mother just asked me last night If I could find her a receipe. My Hungarian grandma use to make us doughnuts on Chanukah, when I was little. She never wrote down her receipe. My Mother regrets that she never wrote the receipe from her. If anyone has a receipe for parve doughnuts NOT using parve creamer or soymilk. My grandma made it with just water, yeast, flour, sugar etc…
mazal77ParticipantI know, I am not on that level of Bitachon either. My point was that we all have to realize that must have bitachon in everything. From paying tuition and bills. Times and situations have changed of course. But bitachon in Hashem must never change. Everything is coming from Hashem. I am working on this. On bitachon, something happened to me this week. I don’t drive and I didn’t want to bother my husband to take me to a shiur (he was sick). Before I left my house, I said to myself and to Hashem, “Hashem, I am going to trust that you will send someone to give me a lift to the class.” I got to the corner and saw a friend who I waved at. I didn’t even ask her for a lift, asked me if I needed a ride. I was so thankful to Hashem. B’H, my sister-in-law was at the class and she offered a ride to my girls’ chanukah workshop. I did not ask anyone except Hashem. He provided people to ask me if I needed the ride. Start with small things to work on. But, you must truly believe. Ain Od’ Milavdo.
mazal77ParticipantSorry, I read a few posts. They were in their car at the time and they were quite obviously dark skinned. They got out of their car to check if we damaged the car. We had only tapped it. Why would anybody be hanging out in a mall parking lot anyway was beyond us, except to make trouble. You usually park and go shopping. Sorry if my story was not to clear.
mazal77ParticipantSorry, didn’t give anything and didn’t get anything. My kids have tons of toys, books, CD’s, etc… They didn’t need anything. I wrote on a previous thread that I felt giving gifts too much like the goyim anyway. Since when did this gift giving business on Chanukah start anyway?? If someone could tell who started this mishugaus, I would love to know??
mazal77ParticipantIt was too icy out there. But I thanked Hashem it snowed right before Shabbos and everyone was home and no one had to be driving out there. The streets were cleared so it was easier to avoid walking on the sidewalks. If you live in Brooklyn, you’ll know what I mean.
mazal77ParticipantI would love to join you all at your Chanukah party, but my family wants the laptop back tomorrow and so please have lots of fun and take the time to spend the Chag with your own families, spinning dreidels, eating real live yummy latkes and doughnuts, and giving out Chanukah Gelt to the kiddies. Have a Happy Chanukah to you all. May our achdus and love for every jew grow no matter what level you are on.
mazal77ParticipantWe accidently tapped some shvartze car while parking out the mall a few years ago. They were in the car and came out to check for any damage. There wasn’t any. We thought everything was okay. We came back to a broken window. They apparently broken in. Thank goodness we had a old car and the trunk could only be opened with a key. (the button in the glove compartment that would have opened the trunk thankfully didn’t work.) The only way to keep that trunk open was to use a pole to keep it from slamming shut. I also think I should warn you, not to park blocking a pedastrian ramp either. I just saw last week on East 8th street and Quentin Rd, a woman get a ticket even though she was parked after the white lines, she got $165.00 ticket for blocking the ramp even though she was past the white lines . I assumed she was parked okay and wondered why she even got a ticket from the Officer in the first place. My curiousity was answered when I just happend to see the owner get to her car and asked her what was the ticket for and then We both noticed the ramp was after the white lines and her car was blocking it. That corner is very deceptive.
mazal77ParticipantI have 2 cd’s from a singer called Yitzhak Simcha. I can listen to them over and over again. Yaacov Shweky of course is unbeliveable. The power and feeling he sings with is amazing and it really reaches into your soul. I heard him sing at a wedding in the summer, I thought it was a tape, my friend told me it really was him live!! Avraham Fried, MBD, Dovid Gabay, Baruch Levine, Shalshales/ junior.
mazal77Participantpenalize yourself everytime you get angry. Set aside a certain amount of money that you will give to tzedakah (not a measly amount, you want something tangible) and if you lose your temper, you have to give it to tzedakah. I think I read of this somewhere, on how to control your temper, but I forgot the source.
mazal77Participantwelcome number 42. Hope you have plently of practice acting as a referee. Sometimes the debates can get rather heated, take for instance the Hamantashen/Latke debate. Don’t let the flying latkes or catapulting hamantashen hit you in the head.
mazal77Participantwas wondering the same thing myself – DHI. Sent a pretty long post and a few short ones and the short ones posted first, still waiting for the long one to come through I hope. I guess we are keeping you pretty busy tonight.
mazal77ParticipantUpside down for your number moderator 99??
mazal77ParticipantMy, you must have alot of time on your hands. LOL
mazal77ParticipantCheesecake is my favorite and if we can pick a second fave food, that would be, Pizza Time pizza on Avenue J in Brooklyn. Best kosher pizza ever!!
