kitzur_dot_net: so big deal mac os is based on linux, it still is not built in its core for teh intel chip. this is a fact. the linux they use is modified for use with their original mac chipset.
as for microsoft being the one to care about the looks over teh power of the software, that is truely teh furthest from the truth. mac has been known to fire engineers because they could not figure out how to make what the art dept at mac drew up, and got steve jobs to go along with. mac places the highest amount of proriety on asthetics.
and what professional applications is your wife using the mac for. adobe’s runs better nowadays on a pc, as does office.
marinerMemberjust because girls that are heavy may not always be a fault of said girl, does in no way mean that a guy has to find that girl attractive. and to say that is a fault of guys is ridiculous. a man, genetically, has to find his mate attractive. a women doesnt have to be genetically heavy, (yes there are times that gemnetics plays a factor, but that isnt the point). to tell guys that they are foolish for not seeing past the heaviness of the wonderful personality that they are dating is akin to saying that when buying the house that has a roof that is half gone and a plumbing that is broken, well just you should look at teh wonderful community the house is in. now i am not saying that a heavy girl is broken. what i am saying is that men have certain criteria inorder for certain chemicals internally to activate. if a girl is heavy, and he is not into that, well then it is sheer stupidity to faulty teh guy. there are plenty of guys who do like heavier girls. just as there are guys who like blondes, brunettes and redheads. (ok noone really likes redheads 😉 ).
also the argument that skinny is just as unhealthy as heavy is ridiculous. there is a differance between skinny and anorexic, which most guys would find repulsive, probably more so then heaviness.
i hate always reading how guys should look past heaviness. its actually factualy impossible.
now if one wants to say that culture decides what is pretty, that has some truth in it, except thats not necesarily always true. some european cultures at times have found heavy women to be the attrictive ones, but that was not everywhere. asain, american (i mean the indigenous americans) and african countries have predominately found skinnier women to be attractive.
marinerMemberjoseph, yes you should thank your social servants, but they are not doing a chessed, they are doing their job. a chessed is something someone does w/o reward (here on earth, at least in a monitary sense). by calling this site a chessed you take away from true acts of chessed, by diluting the phrase, and considering all things that help you out as a chessed. lets leave the term chessed for those things that truely are a chessed, and recognize when somehting is just business.
marinerMembersarah, charlie brown: there is no chessed here. it is a business. do you consider the garbage man doing a chessed, or the barber, or your gardener. this site is a job like any other, then needs to garner profit. they have figured out how to increase revenue, and good for them. but also realize that there are people that get their email on their phones, and may pay per kilobyte. opting out, therefore by law, must be in all emails sent out. also, ywn better watch it, because if certain companies see alot of opting outs coming through their networks, they will flag the servers a poor, and all their email will be flagged spam, and will go straight to peoples junk boxes. (and on a technicality, since the emails were not asked for by subscribers at the time of subscriptions, say with a check box offer to recieve messages, the emails are considered spam.)
marinerMemberintellegent: “anon for this, I am aware that there are such things in the torah that we are allowed to do but rather not. But why are we encouraged to eat/use animals? There are Mitzvos in the Torah that we need to use animals for in order to fulfill. Do you agree? “
um, how bout karbonos, ein simcha elah bibasar veyayin.
and how about the azazel, where we take a live animal and chuck it off a cliff. i think that would be considered “cruel” no?
and your idea that just because we are allowed it doesnt make it ok is false.
see, what you are saying does not exist anywhere else, except for you wanting it to add to this. we are not allowed to murder steal, rape, etc, because that is explicit in the torah. those would be negative commandments. then we have positive commandments. those would be tzitzis tefflin, shabbos, kibud av veeim, etc. and schitah. if god did not want us to eat animals, he never would have given us a way to kill them, and placed so much space in the torah on what animals we may and may not eat.
marinerMemberTOHIGHSCHOOLGUY: 2 words, vista stinks!
ok, you need to restart the computer and hit f8 while its starting up. it will give you choices , one being to start in safe mode with network, pick that. when you load up, start the program , and copy the data here. if you have trouble still let me know, and ill try to figure out another way to get the program up and running.
marinerMemberwhen the gemoroh talks about hitting children in yeshiva, it was talking about the yeshivas back then. it also does not talk about tinokos shel beis rabon. it talks about a rebbi. it is clear that when rebbi is used in the gemoro it is talking rebbi muvhak. i doubt any 3rd grader has a rebbi muvhak. yes, when i was in beis medrash, and my rebbi would “zetz” my back, to get me to focus, i knew he meant it in love, and in the idea of getting me to space in, so to speak. besides, it wasnt hard. in alot of chederim, rebbeim use yard sticks with metal edges. throw chalk and chalkboard erasers. they pull ears and rack knuckles. that is child abuse, and in the “alta hyme” thos rebbeim would be found floating face up in the mikvah!
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: intelligent was a bit wrong on that comment. we are not encouraged, but demanded. karbonos, including the yom, mussaf, shabbos, pesach, etc.
one is michuyav to eat these animals. on top of that, there is an old adage “ein simcha ela vebasar veyayin”.
you say that just because hashem allows us to do something does not mean it is right. that may be correct, but hashem doesnt give us ways to steal, murder and cheat. yet he gives us the choice to do those things. he does give us a way to kill animals, called schittah. so your statement is false due to the process of logic.
marinerMembermdlevine:maybe im nuts, but in your first post, you sort of start of claiming both sides are correct, yet dont give the 2 true sides of the argument. the argument is how much covering is needed to be tznius, and what colors are or are not acceptable.
your statement, while correct, is whether the onus of tznius is on women to not dress a certain way, or for men to not look. as jews we believe both, that is why we dont do like our muslim cousins and make our wives wear burqas (except hose few nut balls in bet shemesh).
the truth is that in any argument in halacha, as long as both sides are leshem shomayim, and have what to stand on, both are divrei elokim chayim!
(intelligent, on more thing, your inferring the meat eating to tznius doesnt make much sense. one is a feeling he has, the other would be a commandment he is trying to know the source of. no similarity at all)
marinerMemberintellegent: i dont agree with Give Me a Break, but he specifically said all he wants to know is where the makor mideoraiysa is. and so far no one here has been able to answer him legitimately. siting meforshim, medroshim, and speeches by rabbi weiss is all nice, but not legitimate. he is asking how do we know we have a chiyuv, and that it is not just a nice thing. pashuta yid is the only one who has answered on the very basic terms of tznius, al pi ervoh.
the real answer is that it is from Micha. the pasuk says “hatzne’a leches im elokecha”, which Rov Elazar Bar Tzadok in meseches sukkah (daf mem tes amud bays)connects to tznius in both dress and charachter. the passuk in micha is perek vuv pasuk ches.
now i am no lamdon, but 3 minutes googling got me this information. this is the entire makor, and that technically makes tznius not one of the 613 mitzvos (besides the fact that it is not listed in any of the lists of the 613 mitzvos that we have from different rishonim).
now that we go that out of the way, everyone can argue!!
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: it is not a pro-choice agenda, it is a non-judgmental agenda, as that is the best and most fruitful way to convince women who are unfortunately going to commit an abortion. there is an old saying, you get more bees with honey….
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: “First trimester abortions are NOT murder. Besides, you’re a woman. Don’t you sympathize with other women who don’t wish to carry a baby to term and through life?”
WHAT? you base halacha on sympathies? so next crack addicts who steal rob and rape to get drugs will be released because it isnt their fault, or pedophiles should be allowed to be around children because they are plagued by a disease and we should feel bad for them. women get pregnant never by mistake. there has not been a pregnancy on earth that has been a mistake. yes, women who are raped and get pregnant are not mistakes. a tragedy, yes, but not a “mistake”. if a form of birth control doesn’t work, it is not a mistake, but the one in 100 probability hitting that women. and where in gods name did you get that killing a fetus in the first trimester is fine, and not murder?
and the fact that you want to use your emotions to figure out what is ideal for the rest of the nation, well then your other post about using morals to vote is also based on emotions, those stemming from ones religious beliefs. but for liberals only non-religious beliefs may be used, right? and i hope you aware that murder is a capitol crime for the bnei noach, meaning aborting a fetus is punishable by death al pi sheva mitzvos beni noach! so in a sense i not only “feel bad” for the fetus who is being murdered, but for the non-jew having the abortion who is now sentenced in heaven to an early death. there is a reason why most women who have abortions feel extremely guilty about it. it is because deep down they know it was wrong!
as for obama, he was for starving babies to death that are actually born during a botched abortion. this actually happened in chicago many times, where doctors are not allow to give the baby typical post-natal treatments like massages for blood circulation and vitamins and formula.
September 22, 2008 11:17 pm at 11:17 pm in reply to: Is it the correct thing to have takanos for weddings? #623110marinerMemberAaron Chaim: the differance witht he gerrer rebbes takonos were that it applies only to gerrer chassidim. takanos made “chareidi” wide dont work. not before, not now, not ever.
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: your original topic was answered many times. it is totally moral to vote with any agenda one may wish, including religion, security of another nation besides the USA (israel), etc. the reason is because those decisoins in of themselves are of moral fiber, and leads to ones moral character. to separate that from ones decisions would actually be immoral. this has nothing to do with having a national church.
marinerMemberkitzur_dot_net: i have no clue where you get saying macs are more stable. the reason why pc’s arent stable is because the users that use them have no clue what they are doing! mac users tend to know their way around the internet and a computer a bit more. your typical user is buying a pc, going online and messing up their computer. the hardware in a typical pc with the price range of the mac will be 10 times better then the stuff apple is sticking in their computers. statistically, in bench mark tests which is how the industry tests machine, mac do rate high, but never hold the top spot, unless they are hundreds more in price. they are never a best buy for your money! they are truly a total waste of money for a typical user.

“PashutehYid, wrong. What the Gedolim said about zionism before the war is as applicable today as it was then.”
there is a slight problem. the gedolim that were around pre, then post israel’s creation disagree with you. sorry to let you know that agudah, which does house i would say a “majority” of the “gedolim” did post israel’s creation go along with it, to the extent they joined the government. rav elyashiv and rav shteinman had nachal chareidi created, yes a unit in the ISRAELI army. but i forget, you only need to follow the “gedolim” when it suits you!

“mariner:
Being vegetarian because of cruelty to animals is NOT k’fira! When HaShem allowed us to eat meat, the slaughtering process was NOTHING compared to the horror it is today! If anything, YOU’RE the kofer, because we have an issur of tza’ar ba’alei chayim!”
are you taking some type of medicine that effects your brain? in the bais hamikdash they were up to their knees in blood on erev pesach. animals were being slaughtered all over the place, and i guarantee you it was not pretty. on yom kippur we chucked a live goat down a clif! something tells me peta would go nuts if we did this nowadays! bu io forget, accorsing to you, god isnt merciful! just because one slaughter house “possibly” did not act appropriately (and agri still has not been brought up on cruelty to animal charges, just 31 instances of hiring teens) does not make eating meat cruel. and yes, if you say eating meat is cruel, then you are a kofer.
on another note, every person who has teens put up their succah, and clean their cars before pesach, and illegals to clean their house, you are all just as liable under the law as agri, so watch where you point blame.
marinerMembernoitallmr: no i am sorry to tell you but you are wrong. 1. no godol is hashems mouthpiece. at least not since teh churban bayis sheini. nevuah is dead, unless your godol to whom you refer is a women, a child or mentally retarded. they still get nevuah.
and 2. i absolutely do not have to listen to any rabbi alive or dead, if my rabbi, whom i have picked to guide me through life tells me so! this is a fact, not a feeling, or a thing i w=once heard somewhere. this is halacha, you pick a rov and follow, vezeh hu!
marinerMemberDavid Bar-Magen: up untill 10 years ago, sorry but hitting hasnt been passe for over 30 years. late 70’s early 80’s. maybe chassideshe yeshivos, but from what i hear, they still hit. if a rebbe hits my kid, well, lets just say i hope that the yeshiva gives medical coverage!
marinerMemberkitzur_dot_net: “ridiculously fabricated kulos” you mean like pruzbul!
marinerMemberTOHIGHSCHOOLGUY: i can only try had a good idea. download hijack this. EDITED BY MODERATOR – NO LINKS ALLOWED
run it. when you run it you will have a choice to run and save reg file. do that. when it is done, copy content of reg file here, and i will look at it for you. (i sorta do this for a living). i should be able to figure out what is wrong. at %100 percent, you either have a legitimate piece of software that need to be uninstalled and reinstalled, as it is hanging, or the more probable answer, a virus or spyware.
on another note, for those who think that mac locking is bad, it actually is the most secure locking feature for a router. its reversing the allocation of security features from the user side, to the router side. this would be akin to using a firewall with usernames and passwords at a business. it does become a pain when someone comes over and need to use your wireless, but in truth, how often does that happen. and when it does, you just add that persons mac to the filter, and your in business. it is the safest way to block children from possibly connecting to the router.
also when you setup a password, dont make it one of your kids names, or your job title, etc. make it random. it should have 8 characters including a cap letter, a number and a symbol. total randomness makes it almost impossible for hackers to get through, at least speedily. (ex. s#gpW9hX).
again, TOHIGHSCHOOLGUY, run and paste the hijackthis data here, and i will tell you what you need to do.
marinerMembernotitallmr: not sure what i said that was techno bable, but her it goes again. ill try to be easier to understand.
ok, mac computers are expensive. for the same price, you can get a pc that blows teh mac at that price out of the water, in all of speed, hard drive space, components (disk drives, usb and firewaire ports, esata ports, which macs do not have), memory, and internal component quality. this is especially true, if you build the machine yourself.
also, teh new macs use intel chips. now personally i would rather have a machine built for the intel chip, then have one that had to be redone so tha tthe intel chip could work for it. lets say you have a lamborghini. it dies. the engine is good though. so you take it out and put it in your new porche. you might be able to get it to work, but it isnt the best option.

“Do you perhaps live by the bay?”
No. i aslo like long walks to shul, and carefree meals in the succah.
i enjoy freedoms you want to take away from law abiding citizens, like gun ownership, free speech, and right to put ads wherever and about whatever i want. i want to be able to keep the money i work hard for, and not give it to the government so they can mess up health care the way they have messed up education (public schools are horrible), mortgage lending (forcing freddie and fannie to give loans to “minorities” and “illegals”, that could not afford it , thanks bill clinton for that one!), retirement funds (social security is bankrupt), and now insurance (with the purchase of aig). the governement has to get out of the american business, and start doing the business of the americans!
obama is a sham! he is a marxist, and should not even be close to being the president, unless running in russia, they would love him there!
marinerMemberSarahB: just understand that if this personal decision is based on cruelty to animals, then you are treading on dangerous territory. it is very possibly kfira, as youre stating that hashem is cruel, as he allows us to eat animals, and have them do work for us!
marinerMemberhavesomeseichel: “And dont tell me “militia=army” a militia was comprised of regular people who owned guns who protected their family and community.”
yo, you havent heard the news! libs cant say this anymore, teh supreme court ruled already that it is a personal right, and it may not be infriged. not only that, but the licensing of such weapons may not be considered a hinderance either! NYC’s laws will be defeated soon. the nra is going after phili and chicago, and nyc is next. they hate bloomberg with a passion, he has been on their cover of their magazine about 4 times as a bad 2nd amendment rights hater.
marinerMemberyesm joseph, i can see that. there is also a benefit to driving a mercedes. its alot safer. yet the people tend to make a decision to be a a less safe car because of a company that was taken overby nazis during the war, yet will give the actual government money to go to their country directly.
marinerMemberjoseph, i hope you were joking.
a pc for teh same price as a mac, will always get you further, especially if you have it built. why get a mac wiht an intel chip which has an os built not for an intel chip, then get a pc, which is made for an intel chipset?!
marinerMemberGive Me a Break:
“Also, we have brains and if we think, we realize that it’s not right for an animal to die just so we can eat meat.” i have brains, and i truly dont see how one doesnt have the right to eat meat! who says, and when did they say it?
marinerMemberno name: you can also try wikipedia, but take everything there with some caution, alot of it is nonsense. also, refuah sheliemah.
marinerMemberits funny, many people will not buy german products, but will travel all over europe to see the churban. do these people realize that they are giving the actual governments of these countries money through taxes. when you buy a ticket to another country, part of the taxes are landing fees.
marinerMemberjospeh, you heard the lib, be quiet. dont talk your nonsense! jerimiah wright isnt the only one who speaks good about obama. there is rezko, farakhan, and the entire weather underground.
marinerMemberbelav echad, we are not commanded to folloow gedolim! that is nonsense. we are commanded to follow a melech, a nave, and your rov. thats it!no gedolim, no agudah, no igud, no councils of of rabbis. nothing! just nowadays, the rov you chose for yourself.
marinerMemberI can only try:: alot of what you said is true. the reason i didnt say to use ad-aware, is because i have found it to be utterly useless. spybot may not be able to get rid of what it finds totally, but at least it finds the stuff. ad aware doesnt FIND alot of things. it also jams up alot of memory with all its graphics. spybot is light sweet and gets the job done.
as for wireless cards, it is no simple process to install a wireless card. (getting a hold of a wireless broadband card, those offered from cell companies is highly unlikely, unless they borrow it from someone, as the bill must go somewhere.) a wireless card that would attach to your router will need to have an antenna. the person using the computer would also need the pass-code. not only that, but you can also limit the router to only certain MAC addresses. this is an address that the IEEE gives out to manufacturers. no 2 are alike (supposedly). yes the mac address could be spoofed, but i doubt a typical yeshiva kid could figure out how to do it. and again, they would still need the pass-code.
as for wep vs wpa, go wpa if you can. not all routers have wpa. try to get one that does. i think all linksys ones do, and they are really easy to setup. as for someone getting into your computer via the wireless router, that would take heavy duty equipment and skills. unless your storing documents of high value, and you are a high value target, i wouldnt lose sleep over it.
marinerMemberwhy dont you ask your rabbi? who care what people think. all these insane halacha shailos. the moderator should just stop them and leave the discussion board for inane subjects not dealing with halacha.
marinerMembermuchcommonsense, just to let you know, that technically just because a text went through a little before the crash, doesnt necessarily mean he sent it then, it could also mean the phone got reception then, and sent it. that is why there is an investigation still pending over the text. but you are right, texting, or emailing while driving is insane. pull over if you can. i pull over onto the side of highways when i must email my boss. no message is as important as your life.
marinerMemberi will now use Give Me a Break’s logic to agree with another group, and ill assume hell agree.
i agree with 95% of the actions of the NAZIS. see their econimic and military growth was great, it secured their nation, and expanded their rule. they were for the peole, creating jobs and and econmy that helped the people. cars that were affordable, electricity was spread throught the country. just the killing of jews, that was bad.
now, Give Me a Break, do you see how silly you sound!
just because peta has a good quality, does not mean you should support them. (i will argue they have no good qualities, for they are all based on principles that are evil in nature.) i hope you do not own pets, because they believe you are not allowed to. no dogs, cats, fish, ferrets. i hope you never went to a zoo or aquarium. cant have those either. hope you never used bug spray, or roach traps, or a mouse trap perhaps, they believe these are all cruel.
i hope you do not put on teffilin, or use a sefer torah or mezuzos, because they believe religions that uses animal hides in practice are evil religions. and those tzitzis made form wool, take them off.
before supporting a religion like peta, maybe you should go on youtube, and see some of the evil speeches the founders have given. peta, greenpeace, and any other cult group that wants to give rights of humans to animals and trees are just that, cults filled with kooks.
marinerMembergavra_at_work: in nyc they are only allowed to bus IN, not OUT! very big differance. see, if a parent wants to send their kid to a school outside their district, their is a process, otherwise all kids must stay in THEIR district, in brooklyn, that would be all of 2, districts 20 and 21, which are over loaded as it is. reading and math teachers working in janitorial rooms, therapies given in the gymnasiums. etc. trust me when i say that the jewish kids will never see the inside of a public school classroom.
September 18, 2008 2:37 pm at 2:37 pm in reply to: Should Yeshiva Bochrim Dress in “Style” ? #622226marinerMemberveimloachshuv:
1) if one can afford it, who are you to say not to. not to mention, those shirts with alligators do last longer, so technically in the long run, that shirt may have been the more expensive choice at the time, but in the long run, it will be cheaper.
2)the “chevra” who wore pink ties first, well maybe they went to the store before the later “chevra” and saw that was what was being sold! some people have it in them to wear something before it is hugely popular. sometimes these people look ridiculous because the trend doesnt catch on (priest collars on suits is one that comes to mind, another 5 button single breasted suits), and they get burned on their purchase. their is nothing inherently wrong, as long as one can afford it.
as for their being a halachic problem with wearing a ball players name on a tee shirt, sorry but that just isnt not true. no one agrees about that! yes, posters in a childs room should be frowned upon, but assur! stop throwing around the word assur, or assur becomes the boy who cried wolf, and things truly assur lose their value.
as for wearing nikes and other name brands, this actually is very imporatnt. wearing cheap footwear, especially when running around, can be very harmful to your feet, ankles, calve muscles, up to your back and spine. nikes, reeboks, nu-balance, these companies all invest alot of money into technology that places the stress on the shoe in special ways as to not effect the body. this is especially important as jews of european decent tend to be more flat and wide footed then the rest of the populace. it isnt the name of the sneaker, but the technology inside it. go speak to any podiatrist, and ask them how important a good pair of sneakers are to children and teens, you will be surprised!
marinerMemberhavesomeseichel: it is a matter of logistics and state laws. we cant force laws onto cities and states that we ourselves dont live in. yes, of course we should continue to push our congressman to have a nationwide voucher program, but that is alot harder, and takes more time. this is a solution then can help now! you have to realize that outside of israel, the most jews ARE found in NYC, and that yeshivas in nyc are alot more expensive then their out of town counterparts. the yeshivas themselves have to pay higher utilities, higher wages do to higher cost of living. not to mention, that out of town jewish day schools tend to get more funding from jewish federations. i am in no way mitigating the fact that out of town parents need help. but to say that new yorkers shouldnt help themselves because out of town communities wont be helped is not using any seichel! should we not open any more stores that sell kosher food, because some out of town communities arent able to have one, or not build any more mikvaos, becase some out of town communities cant afford one. nonsense!
and btw, we are not brooklyners, we are brooklynites. just letting you know.
and this will effect not only nyc residents but all ny residents, from ny to buffalo. it would have to be state wide, as they are technically responsible for schooling children. the city is given the right through the state, but funding ultimately comes fromt eh stae, as so will teh vouchers. yes people living in nj, virginia, illinois, pennsylvania, california, etc will have to do their darndest to have it passed in their states.
marinerMembergive me a break: so do you sit next to murderers without any protection? because lions lay with lambs.
besides, you never answered the latter of my comment, you know the ones about sifrei stam and karbonos. but i forgot, you think, like peta, that the god of the jews is a cruel god who has no compassion for animals.
September 17, 2008 9:45 pm at 9:45 pm in reply to: Should Yeshiva Bochrim Dress in “Style” ? #622218marinerMemberintellegent: there are many cases where we have mistakes in loshon hagemora. besides the fact that all through europe our sforim were edited by christians for anti christian phrases, book making was a very hard and tedious process. mistakes happened. not to mention, there were many times where publishers would change texts for their own gains.
marinerMemberhavesomeseichel: flooding public schools will only work in brooklyn, nowhere else. in fly over country, the public schools are fine. its in urban areas. only jews live in literally 2 school districts 20 & 21. catholic schools bus kids from all over. if all the parents bring their kids on the first day of school, by 10 oclock a voucher vote wil be presented and passed. it will bankrupt the state of ny in one day! they will need to call in the national guard to organize the new students, it will be massive chaos. it will be great, and we will get our vouchers!
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: you thought dc was a state? it is the only place constitutionally that can not become a state on planet earth! tecnically, if a country wanted to join the unites states in europe, it could be voted it with a majority vote of congress! it would need to be an america protectorate first, like us virgin islands, and guam, etc, but it could be done. dc can never becoem a state without 45 congress vote, and that will never happen.
marinerMemberillini07: i said that states had religions, this is correct, i said that states not being allowed to have religions is nowhere in the bill of rights. this is correct. the 14th amendment is not the bill of rights, its 4 amendments too late! as for a 1947 ruling, that has nothing to do with the fact that states did at some point have religions. my point was that when the first time separation of church and state was written, it was prior to the 1947 ruling, so it has to be pertaining to the federal government, not states. this is historical fact. it could not have pertained to something that did not exist yet!
as far as freedom from religion goes, what case are you citing that claims you have a freedom from religion. freedom from religion, and freedom to practice atheism are two totally different things. heres an example.
a shabbos observer working for the city of new york wants off saturdays. the boss says no. the boss wants freedom “from” religion, and the employee wants freedom of religion. freedom to practice atheism cannot be guaranteed, as it is nothing. you arent practicing anything to have rights for. atheism is a anti-religion, in that it is no religion at all. no practices, rules, or customs. so what freedoms are there to be protected. none. that is why freedom from religion can only mean freedom against religion, and that is not anywhere in the constitution!
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: youre inference is utter stupidity. there will be a war when moshiach comes, did you forget that? people will kill people, so of course they can kill animals! hey tahts your logic, not mine. besides, how will you bring the karbonos for all the aveiros you dod, and the ones for the shalosh regolim? how do you wear teffillin, have mezuzos, and use sifrei torah. peta is against all of that! also,l tzitizis, as that is made from wool, they are against that as well. bottom line, being a supporter of peta can not in any way be possible as a frum jew. sorry.
marinerMemberGive Me a Break: these are paid ads. why is this so hard to understand. as you can see, the editors are willing to have democratic ads, but noone in the party wants to put any up. just because the rjc jas decided to advertise all over jewish medias, here, the jewish press, and others, doesnt make it unfair, it makes it capitalism. deal with it!
marinerMemberavast is fine. spybot is the safest free software probably on planet earth! its a great tool, but doesnt remove everything. there isnt a software for this out there that removes all threats. you need to use multiple. but spybot will let you know if the threats exist.
any linkys router will be fine. make sure to use the cd it comes with when you set it up.it needs to work with the modem. you are correct about the switch. in laymans terms its a ethernet extension cord. a router has a switching device in it, but also gives out addresses.
using to not using a router. think of it like this:
2 scenarios:
1) you have a letter, you mail it to yenim who lives in building a. apartment 1.
you write the address on the envelope, and the mailman brings it to the building. he has access to the mailboxes and puts each persons mail into the mailbox os said receiver.
or the same story but:
2) you have a letter, you mail it to yenim who lives in building a. you have no idea its an apartment building.
you write the address on the envelope, and the mailman brings it to the building. he has no access to the mailboxesand has no clue who lives where. he gives the mail to teh dorrman who gives it to the mailroom, who depending on the name, pputs it in peoples mailboxes.
the first is using the internet without a router, the second is with. without the router, the outside world (filled with hackers, crackers, viruses, spyware, etc) has direct acces to you machine. with a router, the router asks the packet (how information travels in the world wide web)where it needs to go, and then directs it if it is sent directly to the machine that asked for it. otherwise the packet is rejected, and it moves on down the road to teh next modem that is unprotected.
marinerMembersjsinnyc, youre thinking is heavily flawed. the money YOU send to teh government will be given BACK to YOU in forms of vouchers. you are already paying for your kids education in city/state taxes. this will just give you that portion back. thats all.
marinerMemberjoeph, where is the famous ran exactly? i doubt you are quoting it correctly, as if you said such a thing to any of the kings of with yehuda or yisroel, you would have been killed for treason! there has to be more then that.
marinerMemberyoshi, teh reason there are no viruses is not because macs are safer, they are not, and this is a fact. it is a matter of market position and control. when a cracker makes a virus, they want to effect the most people possible, so the write the code for the os of highest usage. that would be the microsoft windows os. (not to mention, some of the dumbest users also use the windows operating syste, due to cheap pc market today.) when and if the mac os gets above the 30 percent market share, you will see alot of viruses starting to be written for the mac os.
