lowerourtuition11210ParticipantMost of the program and main speakers were live streamed from MetLife but part of the program was live in Barclays starting with Mincha and tehillim. Rabbi Benoliel reciting the hadran on shisha sidrei mishna, Siyum of Mesevhta Niddah, Harav Yerucham Olshin reciting the hadran on Mesechta Niddah and Talmud Yerushalmi,Harav Elya Brudny saying the kaddish, Singing and dancing, everyone was invited to come down to the arena floor at that time, and Maariv.

BTW, i have heard that Rav Pam used to prepare a siddur and chumash for his wife at her seat before davening.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantI am pretty sure it goes by chronology.
December 19, 2019 2:16 pm at 2:16 pm in reply to: Is it assur to use an air fryer during channukah? #1812335lowerourtuition11210ParticipantIs it Assur? Well since it is not in your Bubbies recipe……..for you maybe. As to others there is no issur melacha on Chanukah. Is it assur to warm up latkes in a regular oven on Chanuka?

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAsk your self the following…if she got on a plane today and went overseas for a few months, how would you feel? If it’s I will miss her and wish i can join her or that she comes back quickly? or no feelings at all? When you can answer this question approach your Moreh Derech.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantThere is a story about someone speaking to Rav Pam and he mentioned he was getting married on August 22nd and Rav Pam said that was his and his wife’s anniversary date.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantJJ: No “ich been a kalter litvak”. no need for a badchen.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYA: We all know what people call it.
December 9, 2019 12:19 pm at 12:19 pm in reply to: Why are the liberals going to bus dangerous youths from OOT into Flatbush? #1809245lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRandom3x: What about the walking from and to public transportation for the “busing”? I disagree with your stmt “School generally do not allow students”. I live two blocks from a miidle school that the students are allowed out during lunch hour and other times of the day. As to ” home to their own neighborhoods once school hours are over.” And how do you know they will be leaving when school ends and not stay around for 1 or 2 hours before going home.We in the east thirties have had our windows broken and other mischief from students as they “walk” home.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAs to ashkenazim not facing the ahron kodesh during a chupa in a shul, I have heard in the name of Harav Yitzchok Hutner, that by the goyim the bride and groom face the altar and the galach faces the crowd. The reason? Because the galach is performing the marriage ceremony and he is marrying the couple. By us, the chosson is making the kinyan and he is performing the ceremony so we want the chosson and kallah to face the crowd even in a shul.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYY: I have heard that it date backs to Europe and with many individuals who were maimed and suffered lost limbs so coats were worn so as not to embarrass anyone who lost an arm.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYA: YOHARA to be serious during the chupa? is it YOHARA to be serious during neilah? Yes it is a chuppa but at the same time it is a day that is compared to a personal yom kippur so there is a tendency to be serious. One of the reasons for donning the kittel is to remind the chosson that life does eventually come to an end.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRabbi Dovid Orlofsky at rabbiorlofsky dot com. it is also uploaded to youtube.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYabia Omer i think the following passuk apples to your response about muktza (Koheles 1:16 מְעֻוָּ֖ת לֹֽא־יוּכַ֣ל לִתְקֹ֑ן). Based on your logic we cant say pig or bacon because we might come to eat it. Or maybe we dont have to practice the harchokos for niddah as we know we cant have relations with a niddah.
Am I to understand that sefardim do not believe in gedarim? Let us understand that kitniyot is not a 20th or 21st century issur but dates back to the kadmonim. Hamon Am was not well versed in the torah so the chachamim placed many safeguards so as to avoid problems. Since it was easy to confuse one type of flour with another and chametz is an issur kares a safefguard was put in place. The fact that the sephardic community did not need these safeguards could very well be that Rice and other kitniyot were never mixed with the 5 grains whereas in other communities it was common.(See MB Siman 453 SK 6).lowerourtuition11210ParticipantPlot it out using excel. Cell A1 = 10/07/2019. Cell D9 – 60 cells from A1 is 12/05/2019.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRebeDebbie: Im not sure what you are reading. WIY is not blaming sefardim for ANYTHING. The OP made statement about Avrahom Avinu and he is contradicting it.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantCTRebbe: do you know that Rav Pam started the new cycle at the 10th Siyum Hashas and spoke entirely in Yiddish.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRebbeDebbie: It seems that you and another poster have this complex. Ashkenazim are not trying to erase sefardim and their history from klal yisroel.
November 26, 2019 3:40 pm at 3:40 pm in reply to: Why are the liberals going to bus dangerous youths from OOT into Flatbush? #1804760lowerourtuition11210ParticipantIf you don’t know the situation they had not made any deal with the charter school and were initially approached by more than one yeshiva. Even when the yeshivos offered the same rate that the charter school was willing to pay they were turned down.
This was only brought to the attention last week when the ads announcing the meeting were published in local newspapers.
In addition, The faculty of Edward R Murrow High School (4 blocks west of the synagogue) is also leery of the charter school and their proposed clientele.November 26, 2019 2:48 pm at 2:48 pm in reply to: Why are the liberals going to bus dangerous youths from OOT into Flatbush? #1804726lowerourtuition11210Participantthere is no way to explain what they are thinking.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantEven though I see the “(T)” in the thread topic I still wonder why the Moderators even approve idiotic questions like the one that started this thread.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantI too am asked the same question. My response is “I’ve been asked this many times but no, I am not”. I see no reason to lie about this.
