The reason? Because the galach is performing the marriage ceremony and he is marrying the couple. By us, the chosson is making the kinyan and he is performing the ceremony so we want the chosson and kallah to face the crowd even in a shul.

Am I to understand that sefardim do not believe in gedarim? Let us understand that kitniyot is not a 20th or 21st century issur but dates back to the kadmonim. Hamon Am was not well versed in the torah so the chachamim placed many safeguards so as to avoid problems. Since it was easy to confuse one type of flour with another and chametz is an issur kares a safefguard was put in place. The fact that the sephardic community did not need these safeguards could very well be that Rice and other kitniyot were never mixed with the 5 grains whereas in other communities it was common.(See MB Siman 453 SK 6).Plot it out using excel. RebbeDebbie: It seems that you and another poster have this complex. Ashkenazim are not trying to erase sefardim and their history from klal yisroel.
If you don’t know the situation they had not made any deal with the charter school and were initially approached by more than one yeshiva. Even when the yeshivos offered the same rate that the charter school was willing to pay they were turned down.
This was only brought to the attention last week when the ads announcing the meeting were published in local newspapers.
In addition, The faculty of Edward R Murrow High School (4 blocks west of the synagogue) is also leery of the charter school and their proposed clientele.there is no way to explain what they are thinking.
There was a well attended meeting last night.
And the politicians are now involved.
