I dont see where the OP is asking that? “But where doe we find the concept that children take off from learning for no reason at all” I wont call them children but in Yeshiva gedolos its called Bein Hazmanim, comes twice a year in Tishrei and Nisan.

January 23, 2020 3:12 pm at 3:12 pm in reply to: Selective Service System – Do you register your sons? #1825455lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYes all my sons have registered just as I registered when I was 18. IN NYC, to apply for youth corps one must have his registration number.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantThis has been discussed in other threads but I for one as a father of a number of boys know that my boys were not mature at 20 to be married.
January 23, 2020 3:12 pm at 3:12 pm in reply to: Why does Biden get a pass Or ”the donkey in the room ” #1825451lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRE: I don recall that “A president is required to be examplary role model to look up to, which he is not.” all that is required is to be a natural born US citizen and be 35 year old. I am pretty sure that Bill “I have caused pain in my marriage” Clinton didnt meet your requirement.
January 22, 2020 11:51 am at 11:51 am in reply to: Are public displays of Frum support of Trump a safe thing? #1825117lowerourtuition11210Participant“Trump is bitterly hated by the Hispanic, Black, & Muslim community.” I am not sure this statement is accurate.
“There are rumors of Trump coming this coming spring to Lakewood or Toms River for a fundraiser, how will such an event affect our precarious relationship with the aforementioned groups?” I hear it is next week. in Wildwood. But it has nothing to with our community. It is payback for Congressman Van Drew who has not followed the Democrat playbook on impeachment.
January 21, 2020 2:53 pm at 2:53 pm in reply to: Why does Biden get a pass Or ”the donkey in the room ” #1824814lowerourtuition11210ParticipantI realize I did not write a coherent sentence. “CTL: I know you dont agree with nor with his moral values but yet you would” should have read I know you dont agree with Trump nor with his moral values but yet you would”
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantThere is an App called Screen Time. the URL to view is https://www.idownloadblog dot com/2018/06/14/limit-kids-screen-time/

Biden who has a son that has fathered a child out of wedlock (and denied it?)
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantLet his legal team handle it especially the newer additions Dershowitz and Starr.
January 16, 2020 1:45 pm at 1:45 pm in reply to: The End of the Ashkenaz Community in Flatbush #1823462lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAnalysis is not totally accurate. Housing prices are also a factor. Ashkenaz yeshivos did not make Lakewood the end goal. Learning in a Lakewood became a goal, not necessarily living in Lakewood. Many factors contribute to that decision.
January 16, 2020 1:45 pm at 1:45 pm in reply to: The DNC debate Tom Steyer (Zera Yisroel) proudly flaunted a crusader symbol… #1823495lowerourtuition11210ParticipantDoes anybody but you recognize this symbol as antisemitic?
lowerourtuition11210Participant1: It is not the “askan gravy train”. It is the reality of living in NY where there is token republican opposition to the democrat party candidates. Even if every frum yid voted for the republican candidate it would not out weigh the democrat party voting bloc and whatever leverage we have as a community would be totally diluted.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantCTL: You just busted my bubble. I thought the world did revolve around the 5 boros. =D
lowerourtuition11210Participant“Censored” is different from “suppressed”.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYankelle, I remember such a gemara. I am pretty sure that there is a fish called “shibuta” that tastes like chazir.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantGit Meshige: Do you eat sushi with the imitation crab? Do you eat Pareve ice cream? Do you rush to eat Jack’s Facon or sausage? Do you have to be disgusted with real pork? or should you say I would like to eat it but the torah told me “NO”.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantGH: I disagree, Your discussion started with using it in cholent; ZD’s with using it in a general sense.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantYes, why not? If my family eats the fake crab for sushi and i eat Pareve cheese cake.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantThe recent incident at the Church in Texas shows how when properly trained there is no shootout but one
defender waiting for a clear shot while others drew their weapons without firing shows the results of having properly armed and trained congregants.lowerourtuition11210ParticipantTo quote Meir Kahana HYD, “every jew a 22”.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantReb Eliezer: I spoke to my Rov last night and he told me he was taught that there is a machlokes between Rashi and the Maharsha based on the gemora yo cited above (Yoma 73:2). Rashi seems to say that the letters lit up and the kohein gadol had to put them together. The maharsha says what you stated above.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantRW: you keep mentionng “red string” and “blue eye”. What are you referring to?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantGH: To quote Rabbi Yaakov Bender, after viewing a video at the 2012 Siyum of a plumber who finished shas 4 times, it was time for me to finish it once.
January 7, 2020 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm in reply to: Plant=based chazerfleish in your shabbos chulent?? #1819761lowerourtuition11210ParticipantBTW, just because it is called “pork” does not make it chazerfleish. And as to the taste of the “impossible burger”, it does mimic the taste of a beef hamburger better then its rivals.
January 7, 2020 12:49 pm at 12:49 pm in reply to: Plant=based chazerfleish in your shabbos chulent?? #1819762lowerourtuition11210ParticipantOne more question: Do you eat Pareve Cheese Cake? or use Tofutti ice cream or better than cream cheese?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantReb Eliezer: Please state your source for this. I have always been taught that the letters light up but the Kohein Gadol is granted ruach hakodesh to arrange them properly.
January 7, 2020 12:42 pm at 12:42 pm in reply to: Plant=based chazerfleish in your shabbos chulent?? #1819748lowerourtuition11210ParticipantGH: Instead of asking the CR why dont you ask a Poseik?
lowerourtuition11210Participantcoffee: everyone?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantBris Milah is not a custom. Your question was “What symbol/icon in Judaism symbolizes/represents Judaism the most” . What greater symbol is a mitzvah done to your body?

What’s with Sefer raziel hamalach? Owned by but not studied by many.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantWith or without a mechitza?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantDaMoshe: you wrote “Most big Rabbonim don’t learn Daf Yomi, “, and your evidence for this statement is……?
lowerourtuition11210Participantsmerel: Possible reason, he was the first speaker in 2012.
January 5, 2020 4:15 pm at 4:15 pm in reply to: Siyum Hashas: The Daf Yomi Cycle didn’t End on 1/1 #1819183lowerourtuition11210ParticipantNot the first time in the 13 siyumim that it was done before the last day of the cycle. I am pretty sure in 1982 it was a week before the actual end of the cycle. It took place on 11/14/1982.
January 5, 2020 10:45 am at 10:45 am in reply to: Siyum Hashas: The Daf Yomi Cycle didn’t End on 1/1 #1819008lowerourtuition11210Participant1: Yes but they didnt have to try and outdo the 2012 event with the 2019 event. My bigger question is why did you wait until after the siyum to ask your question? Talk about being a monday morning quarterback!! Instead of askink your question here why not write your question to Rabbi Zweibel or directly to the Moetzes for a response?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantThe 2020 race will be decided first.
January 5, 2020 10:44 am at 10:44 am in reply to: Blocking a driveway/גזל שינה. Y park on the street when you have a driveway? #1819009lowerourtuition11210Participant“So that person’s wife was furious that the owner did so and she is fuming that it’s pure גזל שינה. ”
She should have a long talk with her husband asking why he blocked someone else’s driveway.
January 5, 2020 1:45 am at 1:45 am in reply to: Siyum Hashas: The Daf Yomi Cycle didn’t End on 1/1 #1818947lowerourtuition11210ParticipantWhy was the siyum hashas for the Daf Yomi made on 1/1? Since the actual end date was shabbos, they moved it back to a date when many people had off from work.
Was it right for the agudah to put yeshivas all over in a position to have learning cut short for their siyum? Yeshivas had a right t say they wouldnt attend.
January 4, 2020 11:47 pm at 11:47 pm in reply to: Blocking a driveway/גזל שינה. Y park on the street when you have a driveway? #1818948lowerourtuition11210ParticipantMany driveways are shared between adjacent houses and some pshara is made between the two owners about its use.
January 3, 2020 1:58 pm at 1:58 pm in reply to: What’s the difference between the two Siyumim? #1818198lowerourtuition11210ParticipantSimply put…..it is a different organization that includes testing on what you learn in gemora, rashi and tosfos. Daf Yomi does not only belong to Agudas Yisroel of America. Dirshu goes a step further and want to celebrate with those that learn the daf and take their tests. By the way, how many individuals, shuls, chaburahs are making kiddushim this shabbos celebrating their siyum? Why do they have to make their own siyum?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantWhere was Rechnitz? I am not his personal secretary nor do I know him personally but did you even think he was home in California for whatever personal reason he had?
“monotonous, repetitious program.” I was at both the siyum in 2005 and 2012 and did not find the program monotonous and repetitious. The 2019 siyum followed the same pattern as previous ones.
