lowerourtuition11210ParticipantI already eat Dr. Praeger’s California Burger with real cheese.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAs a former day camp counselor who worked at a camp (admittedly, 40 years ago) that had its on pool, we had 2 lifeguards and depending how many groups were in the pool at once, determined how many people were on duty to assist the lifeguards. The counselor or junior counselor of each group was patrolling the pool perimeter while the other was actually in the pool. Every swimmer had to have a buddy and every few minutes we did a “buddy call” each counselor was responsible to find his campers and make sure all the “buddies” were accounted for. There were three sections to the pool and one had to qualify to swim in the two deeper sections (tests were administered by the lifeguards). And all this was done prior to any official safety courses being given.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantNeville, you are correct I was not precise in my terminology. I should have said heated up to 110 degrees. Rabbi Ribiat in his sefer the 39 melochos (Vol 2 page 58) agrees with you that bath water is around 104-105 degrees and is comfortable for some adults.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantLVT: You are missing something in your first story. you wrote: “The Rosh Yeshiva was extremely careful to utilize every moment and he never learned in the middle of chazoras hashatz. When the tzzibur responded he would learn for ten seconds. Wow we see the power of ten seconds!” He didn’t learn during chazaras hashatz but when the tzibbur responded he would learn for 10 seconds. responded to what and when?

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantIt’s less than 20 degree hotter than human body temperature, which implies that it would not actually cause you to jerk your hand back.
Others describe it as the temperature a baby’s stomach will scald. Have you boiled water to 110 degrees (tested it with a food thermometer) and actually put your hand in?First it is the shita of R’ Moshe Feinstein TZATZAL that we have to be machmir that 43 degrees Celsius (approx 110 degrees F) as stated in (IGROS MOSHE ORACH CHAYIM (4:74) UNDER bISHUL NOTE GIMMEL) “HU KVAR CHOM GADOL SHEYESH LACHUSH LYAD SOLEDES KEFI MAH SHEHBDAKNU BATZMEINU. VEHASAFEIK YESH LACHUSH AHD 71 MAALOS CELSIUS (APPROX 160 DEGREES F) HU VADAI YAD SOLEDES.”

I am pretty sure that R’ Shlomo Zalman held it was 45 degrees Celsius (113 degrees F).
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantIt wasn’t designed as one. Many assumptions made years ago were wrong (or in a common expression (DAVAR SHELO BAH L’OLAM). Always expecting a high birth rate to replace older workers.

devny: all I wanted was advice on what to say to the shadchan. The truth. Just like you told us. I was not expecting to be taken to a restaurant, i was taken aback as I was not used to this. I may have not been at my best because of this.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantSo you are going to claim a song like “Siyata Dishmaya” by Miami Boys Choir (1984) is goyish? or Avrohom Fried’s “no jew will be left behind”? or Mordechai Ben David’s “someday we will all be together”?

July 10, 2019 12:44 pm at 12:44 pm in reply to: The sixth day in Chodesh Tammuz A day of tragedy in water year after year ! #1756464lowerourtuition11210ParticipantA day of tragedy year after year yet you have to go back 10 years to find an incident on that date.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAs a parent who was given the option by medical professionals to use adhd medications for our children who needed it, we accepted the recommendation after we exhausted all other options for that child. However on the flip side we did notice the difference in our children’s school performance once on the medication. Is it the answer for everyone, NO. But for some it is the best option.

Unless the yeshiva has a private company doing there busing all year around.
lowerourtuition11210Participantcoffeeaddict: what king gets a haircut everyday?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantJoseph: Have you ever seen a picture of the Rogatchover Goan?
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantAJ: I think the OP was referring to the general level of “noise” the CR makes over visiting day. Not GH’s comment about visiting day after only 1 week. My son avoided the traffic by driving back yesterday morning.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantI have heard Rabbi Paysach Krohn tell this story on a number of occasions. When his children were young he had a choice of sending them to one of two yeshivos, one where the mechanchim were clean shaven and the other where the rule was the mechanchim had to have a beard. He went to ask advice from Rav Pam who told him to send them to the yeshiva where the mechanchim were clean shaven since he himself shaved his children might look at him like he is a goy if he sent them to the other yeshva. And today all of Rabbi Krohn’s sons have beards! Notice that Rav Pam didn’t say because shaving is wrong.
lowerourtuition11210Participant#1 it is none of the classroom teacher’s business to know which children have parents who owed money. A wll known girls yeshiva withholds the report card if parents owe tuition. Teacher tells the student the envelope is empty “ask your parents why?
#2 at the end of the school year, the scholarship committee and the administrator would have a meeting and go over the amounts still owing (without names revealed). If there was enough funds in the scholarship savings account, money would be transferred to the operating budget to clear all balances. (Not in Brooklyn. They know names and amounts.
#3 The HEAVY HITTERS would be asked to cover the debt, so every family started the year fresh after summer break. In Brooklyn, the hanhalah holds back the registration packet until the balance is paid (or a payment plan is agreed upon).lowerourtuition11210ParticipantTell me a yeshiva that doesn’t do it.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantHer is a crazy idea. Instead of kvetching and complaining why dont you spend some time over the next 191 days until the siyum learning yiddish?
lowerourtuition11210Participantrational: You wrote ” English, a language foreign to yiddishkeit”. Remember that yiddish was also foreign to yiddishkeit before Jews moved to the germanic countries approximately 1000 years ago. Moshe Rabeinu did not bring it down with the luchos from Sinai.

lowerourtuition11210ParticipantChecks and cash are always accepted. Clothes size of 3-6 months. Some people use registries but I dont know of widespread use. I once saw a unique gift of 3 different brands of diapers and baby wipes.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantJob offer in that community.
lowerourtuition11210ParticipantCTRebbe: Never “assume”. Those who are speaking may not know english. In 2005, The Novominsker spoke in english then said part of his drashah in simple yiddish. None of the preople around me complained.
lowerourtuition11210Participanttcanter: At most chupas that I attend, (and at the chupha’s of my married children the chosson turns and hugs his parents and shver, the kallah hugs her parents and shviger, the parents friends especially the men go and wish mazel tov to the parents while the chossons fiends wait until the chosson and kallah come out from under the chuppah .

Many years ago I had a shailoh regarding using my oven on yom tov and I asked the neighborhood poseik who told me to ask the appliance repairman and listen to what he tells you on how to use it.

lowerourtuition11210Participantjoseph: not necessarily people born 11 years ago and those who turned 19 in 2008 have had both birthdays coinciding. I dont have a total grasp as to why but it has to do with the number of secular leap years.
