High speed audio devices are very costly, they start at about $1,400. There are USB regular speed converters, they’re about $30 – $50. Most of them come with a kit – so it will guide you how to get the best recording possible.

I’m not talking for those smart, bright personalities that frequent here. Yes, they are probably walking encyclopedias of Torah – Tanach, Mishnah, Talmud, Halacha, Medrash, Kabalah etc. When they engage in conversation I could barely follow along, I sit and study each line (and between the line) for hours. “Oh! Now I chapped what this one said…” “Said Sam2 in the name of DaasYochid…”

If I ever quote any Chazal, Passuk or saying, as I wrote earlier, it’s b’shem omro – it’s in the name of my untiring, ever faithful Rebbi, Rabbeinu Google. Such a baki – he knows EVERYTHING.

It sure is. Actually it doesn’t let me sleep in the first place.

But I thought the “olam” here would catch on.

That was supposed to be a joke (oh) similar to one related by (I think) Rabbi Miller. Here goes.

A man and his wife were (rachmana litzlan, heaven forbid chas vchalila, may it never happen to you) not on speaking terms. He wrote a note to his wife that he needs to get up early for some job, (without please r”l) set the alarm clock.

He gets up bright and early at 11:00 am, with a whole bunch of notes from his wife, “Get up, it’s 6:00”, “6:15”..

I’d choose Yaakov Avinu. The one whose snapshot is posted directly under the heavenly throne. The one who saved his grandfather (???? ???? ??? ??? ?? ?????). The choicest of the forefathers. The one who the Torah chose to afford the most attention to regarding all aspects of his life, obviously for us to take note. The one who went through so much pain, agonies, trials and tribulation. He had all his children set in the proper path ???? ????, each according the the particular attributes, character traits of his children.

He was the ???? ???? ????, has his feet firmly planted in the world. He knew how to deal with many a difficult situation, many difficult people (putting it mildly), he knew how and when to be soft, gentle, compassionate, he knew how to be concurrently strong, assertive, aggressive, cunning etc (???? ??? ??????).

Yet at the same time he was obviously living in another planet, he confronted and prevailed over a Malach HaShem, he made the Malach nebach cry… According the Medrash all heavenly occupants were abuzz with the ‘great exciting news’, when Yaakov was leaving for Charan – “Look down there goes someone who looks exactly like the picture on the ??? ?????!!” Obviously he was a hero, a sensation up there.

So there’s plenty to learn from this Great of a man. Actually all Yisraelim are so called after him.

Please no one post anything hilarious until after 11:00(am). I’m having a late night (actually early morning). Just settling in now (2:50), so I want to sleep late, and I don’t need anyone waking me from ‘hibernate mode’.

In my humble opinion, it would be considered a “shoel”, and the act to be a “maisah machmas melacha”, that he’s not responsible.

When someone comes to your home you either offer him a seat or he takes one on his own, knowing that that is your desire, that he be seated. You know he’s not taking it home, he’s using it, and returning it.

As long as nothing out of the ordinary occurs, as long as he’s using it in the normal fashion, that would be considered “machmas melachah”.

-My opinion. Check it out with a certified Dayanician.

    Gamanit:

The Gemarah was written by men who were steeped in Torah and Avodah. Their intelligence, their wisdom, their sayings were solely from HaShem, the one who, in fact, created woman too. They understood the makeup of a woman far better than any doctor, psychiatrist, counselor, mentor or coach do. The Gemarah is replete with these sayings, characteristics they possess. The Gemarah is also replete with advancements, advantages afforded women, due to their general personality, temperament, character make-up. They were afforded and regarded more, far grater then than any of today’s “movements”. No the Gemarah was not written by male bigots.

Ah! Such good times we had those days, partying out!

We need some official here, one that can take all of the above and of the Mazel Tov thread, stick them in a nice REAL bouquet arrangement and deliver it, IRL. C’mon, deep (deepest of the deep) inside each poster here beats a real live heart.

Mods, I charge you with the task. You’re the only one who knows everyone’s name, address, SS, DOB, intelligence, medical history etc. Go for it. You should know her address. (the real one, not the IP)

Everyone- sign your name here: (in this post)

In a respectful way, I think it would be OK. Not advisable, but OK. There are some Rebbes out there that know what they’re talking about, some even know what you’re talking about, some even what you’re thinking about. Yes, even today. I’ve heard stories, many. Don’t want to elaborate, it will only lead up to no good here. But yes, there are some who’s opinion and guidance should be listened to even if you think the contrary. ????? ?????? ?? ???? ???? ????. Torah giants have an elevated perception, they view things differently than us.

People, please. I think I know some of those halachos too. Cool it. Someone is writing that someone sat on a chair and every seems to know where, when and what. FYI everyone, there’s a big world out there, plus these things happen all the time. There are many houses on a block. There are many blocks in a neighborhood. There are many neighborhoods in a borough. There are many boroughs in a city. There are many cities in a state. There are many states in a country. And there are many countries in the world. (and there are many ..)

Same for chairs. Same for people breaking chairs.

There’s a lot more publicized here that are more pointed, and no one seems to give a hoot.

I don’t know how you suppose people here would ever get to know the subject. We ourselves are mostly anonymous one to another.

As far as paying for the damage, I’m not a Rabbi, Dayan, Rav or anything remotely similar. I just think of he sat on it, the normal fashion, like anyone else, then he’s not considered to be a mazik. No claim at all. Not in earthly court ???? ???, not in heavenly one either.
