Again, this entire halachic question we’re discussing does not have to do with chumras or kulas; it is simply a halachic question with a psak halacha. And if the psak halacha is to get drunk k’pershuto, then that is the psak.

Tiflus only applies to teaching girls Torah she’bal peh; teaching them Torah she’bksav is permissible.

What do you mean? This isn’t a matter of chumra or kula; it is a matter of psak halacha. If a posek holds it is a chiyuv to get drunk k’peshuto on Purim, which is a clearly a valid shitta that is held halacha l’maaisa by various poskim, then that’s the psak halacha for anyone who has him as their mora d’asra or posek.

Dina d’malchusa doesn’t override halacha, as you’ve acknowledged above. And halacha doesn’t distinguish on this between a 13 year old and a 22 year old.

The only distinction I see if the person cannot handle the alcohol and it is a sakana to him. But that would be an individual heter to deviate from the halacha, which is something that is sometimes muttar. But if someone under 21 is as physically capable of handling the alchol as a normal person aged 31, there isn’t a halachic difference between the two of them on Purim just because one is aged 20 and the other is aged 22, irregardless of the secular age 21 arbitrary cutoff.

You can probably find more people giving up on following Hashem and His Laws in the Torah to obtain more wealth than to find find people who significantly give up one’s wealth to comply with the Torah and Halacha.

Where do you get the idea that anyone can choose which shitta to follow? If your community or family posek or rosh yeshiva rules in accordance with the psak that it is halachicly obligatory to get drunk k’peshuto on Purim, you can’t just pick and choose another psak simply from a menu of psaks that exist.

The term “Dati” is used to mean what would be called “Orthodox” in the US – which runs the gamut from barely Shomer Shabbos to Satmar.

Why is Satmar frequently used as the example of being the most religious? i.e. in the above quote aIY is going from barely religious to very religious.

On national and statewide and citywide executive position elections they tend to vote their social positions above economic considerations. On legislative elections economic considerations are a greater factor but social values still are more dominant.

You’re right, I misread the OP on that point. Nevertheless, the customer spent time in the store to choose a product based on the posted pricing, so I think my underlying point is still applicable.

Do you all really have a problem with a sign up too long? My problem with this is how the customer was treated.

Both could be problematic, but the false advertising is worse and is geneivas daas by stealing the potential customer’s time, causing him to come into the store under false pretenses to look to purchase something represented to be at a lower price than actual.

I believe a majority of MO would not be considered right-wing (RWMO). A lot of people who would’ve been considered RWMO became Chareidi. You can go to almost any Chareidi community or shul in chu”l and find members who were themselves (or their parents) previously affiliated with MO.

many of those who in America would be “Chareidi” would not be described as such in Israel.

    I disagree.

It was done at a sink in a room I happened to walk into where the father and son were alone and apparently not expecting anyone else to see. (I slipped out right away.) I put one and one together having seen the kid being publicly disobedient to his father on this issue a few minutes earlier.

Does a person have a halachic obligation to relate negative information when appropriate, even if his inclination is to wiggle out of answering the question? What if it relates to a close friend or relative?

If you are asked to give information, and you know there’s a problem that can have a negative impact on a marriage, tell the person inquiring you’ll get back to them shortly, and call your Rav.

You realize that telling that to the caller might almost be the same as telling him the answer entails negative information, but you need to check if you can tell it to him. You more or less told him, before the shaila, that the answer is in the negative.

What, if any, negative health effects occur from propping a baby with a bottle? I recall something about it possibly being harmful for the teeth if the bottle is left in his mouth after his completes it, due to the sugar. Is that indeed the case, and are there other potential issues?

According to the shittas that one is required to get drunk, k’peshuto as various shittos say is halacha l’maaisa on Purim, it would appear the chiyuv starts on the first Purim following one’s Bar Mitzvah.
