Twice? Closer to two dozen times over the past seven years. Though in fairness it’s been a long while since he kept repeating that joke (and then denying it’s a joke.)

Exactly. So to answer Torah613: No, it is not a set Torah concept.

In the Torah, often, the rule is that the ends do justify the means.

    i.e. lying for shalom.

A different kind of example that I don’t agree with, but some rule as such, is in the name of kiruv causing someone to be mechallel Shabbos (i.e. inviting him for Shabbos despite knowing he’ll probably drive there.)

No one’s defending the behavior. Everyone here criticized it and rightfully so. But you are wrong to blame the rebbeim.

Do you blame the parents if it was done in the neighborhood shul?

If a yeshiva student comes late to davening does that mean the yeshiva is happy about it? Should they put students in detention for arriving 9:05 or leaving the sefer out?

Who said it is acceptable? Is everything that happens considered acceptable? If something is done wrong that doesn’t make it the rebbeim’s fault for not having taught them. Some people are taught well but still don’t behave correctly.

Go to an older and wiser Rebbetzin. Additionally, the Rebbetzin can be a conduit between the laywoman and the Rabbi who can dispense his rabbinic wisdom through her.

If someone wears a hat and jacket all the time, shopping, walking in street, visiting his grandmother who is in rehab, how does wearing hat and jacket show respect for davening.

If someone wears a suit and tie all the time, shopping, walking in the street, visiting his grandmother who is in rehab, then does wearing a suit and tie show respect when visiting the President?

goofus: In such a synagogue it isn’t the “minhag” to not wear a hat and jacket but rather it happens to be that the congregants chose not to wear it. Just as the fact that none of the congregants wore Reebok sneakers to their synagogue doesn’t mean it is their “minhag” not to wear Reebok.

Okay, we heard a boatload of flower-loving men. We fully accept that.

Now let’s hear why women like flowers. Or are we saying that there are no general differences between men and women enjoying flowers?

Otherwise, why are women associated with flowers much more than men – i.e. flowers being a common gift from husband to wife but not so common from wife to husband?

Trump didn’t say “most” illegals are rapists and drug dealers. ubiquitin came up with that, not Trump.

Furthermore, the 1996 Immigration Act makes it a Federal crime to enter the U.S. illegally. Trump is correct that all illegal immigrants are criminals for having crossed the border illegally.

Can’t the hashgacha agencies (i.e. OU-D, OK-D) effectively replace whatever the inspections the FDA did in Rav Moshe’s time that they no longer do?

After all, per Rav Moshe’s heter you could drink any milk in America even if it has no kashrus agency certification or inspection.

In fact, by the kashrus agencies inspecting and certifying the product, does that no suffice? Or did Rav Moshe indicate the food producers needed the fear of the government penalties for violating the law to make the heter effective?

Halacha has specific instructions on who to distribute an estate to. The eldest child, if a son, receives a double portion. The rest of the sons receive a single portion. If a person wishes to distribute it differently than Halacha specifies, he needs to make special instructions.

Is he planning to force co-ed bus service? If he is, the girls schools can all start an hour later than the boys school thus forcing the State to provide separate service again.

The e-mails show that State officials indicate that they do not monitor whether the milk producer mixes in non-cow’s milk. The State merely relies on the producer’s following the law prohibiting that even though the State doesn’t test or monitor to prevent it. The State official says they would investigate if they were made aware it occurred ex post facto, but that they do not monitor to see if it is occurring.

ca: In 2000, Bush and Cheney received over 50% of the votes of the Electoral College. The popular vote is not used in presidential elections to determine the winner, bur rather the Electoral College is. And, besides, neither Bush nor Gore received 50% of the popular vote as both candidates received under 50%. Bush received 47.9% and Gore 48.4%. So by that token neither candidate “won” a majority.

His chance of being the nominee are about as close to zero as his chance of becoming President. He is a social liberal. And his support has a low ceiling. If it ever came down to him and one other candidate, the majority of the party would take the other candidate.
