Notice that this thread marking 300,000 was 4.5 years ago. And the CR started 7.5 years ago. So while it took 3 years to reach the first 300,000 comment milestone, it took another 4.5 years to reach another 300,000. That means there has been a significant slowdown in comments in recent years.

We need to make up for the lost time by posting more often!

The only change was I added the last paragraph after having submitted the post. I don’t see how that changed the tenor other than elucidating the same point.

true, the post is still making definitive statements that cannot be backed up, you are correct about that.

You can accept that as an admission that the moon landing was faked too, but that ain’t make it so.

Ladies and Gentleman of the Coffee Room:

We are about 75 posts short of Post # 600,000! This will likely occur today or tomorrow.

Who will be the magical winner of making the 600,000th post in the history of the Coffee Room? (This includes approved as well as unapproved posts.) Only time will tell.

Joseph, in his speech, Mr Rechnitz stated that he gets many calls from parents whose children have not been accepted.

Mr. Rechnitz is getting calls from parents who couldn’t get their child into their school-of-choice, even though they can get their child into another yeshiva/beis yaakov.

Obviously they only say they can’t get their child into school since they want to pressure their yeshiva-of-choice to accept them rather than “settling” for “second best”. And framing their complaint that they can’t get their child into yeshiva is more effective than correctly framing it that they can’t get into the yeshiva-of-choice but can get into other yeshivas that they may have not even applied or tried because of their insistence to stick only with their yeshiva-of-choice.

And all of this is really just an indicator that the footage of men landing on the moon was a hoax!

Rabbeinu Yona (Shaarei Teshuva 3:228): Now it is necessary to think deeply about this matter to understand its root. We have said previously that it is permitted to speak disparagingly about a sinner because of the wrong which is in his hands, if it is known that he has not repented. Thus it is permitted to degrade sinners that steal or rob, or cause damage or oppress, humiliate, embarrass, shame or slander others. This applies also to those who do not return what they stole or do not pay for the damage they have caused or have not asked forgiveness for the harm they have caused others.

[even though the halacha doesn’t require it] [“Yet let no man strive, neither let any man reprove” Hoshea 4:4]

However there is another reason for chastising the sinner before condemning him. If he fails to chastise first it is possible that the listeners will think that he is lying and that he simply made up all the slander and that is why he didn’t first reveal his claims directly to the sinner but concealed his words from him.

Similarly, if the speaker has an established reputation of not being biased against anyone and not flattering anyone. If he will not talk differently about a person whether he is there or not – meaning that everything he will say when not in the person’s presence is the same as when he is. And furthermore that he is not afraid of any man and he has a reputation for always telling the truth. In such a case he will not be suspected when speaking about another man’s sins – even when the sinner is not present. This idea is alluded by our Sages (Arachin 15b), Rabbi Yossi said,” ‘I never said a thing and turned back”. In other words, “I never said anything about a person when he wasn’t there which I would have suppressed if he had been present. Similarly (Arachin 16a), “Everything which is said in the presence of 3 people is not considered lashon harah.” In other words, “Since I made the statement in public therefore it will become known by the person I am speaking about and therefore it is like I said it in his presence.”

I think that with *perhaps* at most an extremely tiny number of exceptions, no child in Lakewood started the school year having applied and been rejected by every school. IOW, by the time the schools open their first day of the year, every child had *a* school willing to accept them.

I was also correct on question 3, wasn’t I. Yesterday could almost be called a three-way tie with everyone else virtually falling behind the radar. Rubio almost tied Trump with Trump being much closer to Rubio than Cruz.

The “surprise”, if it can be called that based on the media and polling pundits, wasn’t that Rubio was third but rather that Rubio did better than predicted and did almost as well as the first two rather than being a distant third as predicted.

Do you protest as vigorously as you do here, when a spouse in a divorce goes to arcaos (secular court) to decide marital asset distribution, alimony, custody and/or other issues pertaining to the divorce proceedings rather than exclusively using Beis Din only as Halacha demands?

Not just Rov Haposkim, but virtually the unanimous psak gedolei harabbonim was that it is forbidden to take the land by force. And as Chazal warned if it is taken prior to the proper time, Jews will be hunted down in the streets like animals, something we’ve r”l been witnessing in the streets of Israel for the last 68 years.

There are not, relativity speaking, a lot of videos and photographs of him. He is fairly notable and we’ll known for being very strict against being photographed. There are even pictures of the Rebbe covering his face because he saw the photographer. What does exist was certainly not done with his consent or likely even knowledge. People who photographed him tended to have done so undercover.

Robby, the point is to counter the zionists’ false narrative that the State of Israel is a “safehaven” for Jews. As can plainly be seen, Israel is not physically safer than living elsewhere. Au contraire.

And Israel is no safer for Jews from facing a future war that Jews are subject to the effects of war than Jews living elsewhere.

Some gedolim opposed photography due to Avoda Zora. Others opposed it for kabbalistic reasons.

Even a godol who allowed himself to be photographed doesn’t show he felt it right or best. He may have wanted the guy to feel good or not embarrass him or help him make a parnassa. Doesn’t mean he felt it ideal. If an older family friend came over and patted him on the back and said, “well Shlomo Zalman, my friend, I see you grew up and made something good of yourself!”, I wouldn’t be shocked if he played and laughed along with him. Doesn’t make what that guy did right.

Forget about kabbalah or Halacha or Avoda Zora or whatever else and think plain mentchlichkeit. Would you want a random stranger or acquaintance or neighbor running up to you and sticking a camera in your face and snapping your picture without your permission? How about hundreds of such instances? I sure wouldn’t and I’m sure there vast majority of people wouldn’t. Even if it is “legal”. Most people wouldn’t agree to it or even give permission if asked by random people.

Who wants their picture hanging in random people’s houses or traded, shown off, sold or published in mass circulation newspapers of a million unfamiliar people? Not most normal people and not most Gedolim. Only an egomaniac would want their picture mass published. They don’t stop it? That’s only a raya that they are forgiving people who don’t need another losing fight they’ll have to forever battle.

Except that we see the very fulfillment of what Chazal warned us. We see Jews r”l being hunted down and killed in the streets of Israel ever since the zionists violated the oath, exactly as Chazal warned us. Since the violation, Israel has become the most dangerous place for a Jew to live compared to any other major Jewish center of population.

    Exactly as Chazal warned us.

Just because the goyim violated their oath does not give us permission to violate our oaths. And it is brought down l’halacha. Search this website; it had been addressed and answered extensively.
