Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant
The problem with pokeman is that he said: 1. that it’s difficult to answer if it was ever alive. & 2. that it’s difficult to answer if it’s man-made.
But maybe if you know more about Pokeman than I do, that would make sense?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantFrom your hints, apparently it’s something that gets “found” at times even though it doesn’t exist. From what I know about Pokeman (which is very little) it is beginning to sound like it. The question is: For those of you who know about pokeman is it usually found inside? Also, is it hard to fit in a trunk?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantHi, I just got back from my errands. I don’t think asking 19 was a stira to 17. In 17, I asked if it DEFINITELY exists and the answer was no, so it could be something that some people believe in and others don’t (like the Golem) T/f I don’t think it’s fair to take back 19
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant19. Are there intelligent sane Frum adults with Torahdik Hashkafos who believe that it exists or once existed or might exist or have existed?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantnot saying
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant29- If it’s not usually outside and it’s not in most houses, it must be inside but not in most houses.
Either it’s inside houses, but not most of them, or it’s inside a different type of building other than a house
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI have to leave soon for an appointment now, so I probably will miss the end 🙁 (unless no one gets it and I still have a chance to guess when I come back!)
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant17. Is it something that definitely exists or existed at one time for real? (as opposed to something imaginary or something controversial like dinosaurs)
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant16. Is it some kind of character?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI’m confused – it’s not clear if it’s tangible but you can fit it in the trunk of a car, but not easily?!!!!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant13. Is it an idea or concept?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI wrote that before I saw the answer to religious significance.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant12. Is it the Golem?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant10. Is it tangible? UNCLEAR
Now, this is really complicated!!! Either something is tangible or not!!!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipanti think that #1 is throwing u off
Yeah, that does sound strange – most things are either living or not.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI still didn’t get an answer to 10. Is it tangible?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantShowjoe- you’re right, this is really hard – I think much harder than mine was
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly – I never claimed that I was listing all of them!!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantTheir website says they help people who WISH to leave, not people who left.
I definitely feel compassion towards them and I’m sure that everyone else hear does as well. There is no reason to think otherwise from anything anyone wrote here. You can think that someone is wrong or even bad and still feel compassion towards them.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant10. Is it tangible?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly – you’re right, I hadn’t thought of that
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantshowjoe – sorry, I thought that might be the case, just wanted to make sure you saw it
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly, what does that mean? Only a person can be famous, and he said it was never alive
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantShowjoe, you didn’t answer my question – would you find it in most houses
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly, that doesn’t contradict what I wrote – I wrote most or many. It’s also not true for computers or accounting, but it is true for many fields.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant7. Would you find it in most houses?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI just checked their website. I cut and pasted as follows:
Footsteps is the only organization in North America that assists people who wish to leave the ultra-Orthodox community.
There were also several Article Headings maligning the Frum Community.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantYou don’t really learn much in any American college anyhow. In America, for most or many fields, it’s only in graduate school that you really learn about your field.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant4. Is it usually found outside?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLittle Froggie -lol
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly, you also need to differentiate between the people and the Rabbi. The fact that the people are only keeping Shabbos and Kashrus does not necessarily mean that the Rabbi said that they don’t have to keep the other Mitzvos.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly, my original statement was that either it is muttar or assur according to Halacha. What a Rabbi says does not change that. Rabbis can’t change Halacha.
Sparkly, I have noticed from some of your posts that you seem to be confused about something. You seem to have this idea that if someone has the title Rabbi, then everything he says is true and you can believe it and act accordingly. If someone says something that is against the Torah, the fact that he has the title Rabbi does not make it true, regardless of whether he calls himself an MO Rabbi or a Chareidi Rabbi etc. I also know a “Chareidi Rabbi” who told people that it’s okay to not be shomer negiah. That didn’t make it okay. It did make him unqualified to hold the title Rabbi. The same goes for your “modern orthodox Rabbi” if he is fact telling people that.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly – so you spread rumors about the whole Frum community instead – that’s much worse!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant“lilmod ulelamaid – their causing sinas chinam by not allowing another jew just because his not religious to see his children.”
Sparkly, you have absolutely NO RIGHT to believe that his kids did any such thing! How dare you spread rumors about them?! How would you like it if someone did that to you?!!!
(I think you misread her pronoun)
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly, you wrote this before: “lilmod ulelamaid – okay thanks. please let me know.” And no one said you had an issue with Yiddishkeit. You said you wanted the information – that doesn’t mean you have an issue with Yiddishkeit! Maybe you want it for someone else.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantShopping 613- the sems for ffb’s on Neve Campus are mainly for girls right out of high school so they wouldn’t be appropriate for this girl. However, the fact that there are other ffb’s on campus might make her feel more comfortable.
Sparkly – since I don’t know her, I can’t say. Also, I haven’t been there in 6 years, so I don’t know what it’s like now. Based on my experiences there in the past and the information you have told me about her, my guess is that she would. It is a very friendly, warm environment, and there are different types of girls/women from different types of backgrounds. Since she never went to Yeshiva, she might find that in some ways she is similar to the other students there.
But again, gofish said that it is very different now. So she may need to find out more about what it is like now. It is probably kidai for her to apply and set up an interview, and then she will find out more on the interview.
If Neve turns out not to be shayich, Midreshet Rachayl or Shearim might be good choices. But I also have not had contact with them in years, and don’t know what they are like now.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly – you don’t know what the word “allowed” means. The Torah does not give special allowances to people who decide to call themselves MO.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantModerators: – you beat me to it. Thanks! I do think that some of the other comments should be deleted as well, since they say negative things both about specific people (the family of the guy in question who I’m sure doesn’t appreciate it) as well as the Frum world as a whole – since the implication is that this is what the Frum world is like and people are right for being anti-Frum people.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantModerators: some of the above comments need deleting as they are Motzei Shem Ra on Am Yisrael (something we definitely want to avoid before Tisha B’Av).
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantSparkly – “lilmod ulelamaid – you cant be frum if you dont keep shabbos. the 2 things that make a person frum “keeping shabbos and kosher”. it says it in the Torah if anyone wants to bring the pasuk up.”
Interesting, I’ve been learning for many years and never came across such a Possuk!! Where exactly does it say that?!!!
The word Frum is not used anywhere in the Torah, but it means someone who keeps the Torah. There are 613 Mitzvos in the Torah and nowhere in the Torah does it say that you only have to keep Shabbos and Kashrus!!!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantJA – keep me updated if you can. It should be with Hatzlacha!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantModerators – thanks for putting it back. In terms of the links, they were just articles describing the organization/hotline. If anyone is interested, they can google it (Regesh hotline Lakewood). One article was from The Lakewood Scoop and one was from Tekuma.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantIt definitely had links -is that a problem? It also might have been long.
It is important though – this sounds like it could involve pikuach nefesh!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantzahava’s dad- according to Halacha, it is completely assur to believe something like that or even to read it in the first place, and certainly, to repeat it. It is Motzi Shem Ra on Am Yisrael. We don’t blame Jews for anti-Semitism. It’s almost Tisha B’Av. Let’s find some positive things to say about Am Yisrael!
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantLittle Froggie: “How I miss Eretz Yirsoel!!!
Yes, it was hot there too. Especially in the Yam Hamelach area. But nothing, nothing as bad as the heat and humidity combined over here!!!”
Agreed! If you’re going to be hot, at least the hot air should be air that is full of Kedusha!!! Plus, it cools off here at night.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipant1. Is it something that has ever been alive?
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantI just saw that there is also an email address: [email protected]
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantJA, Sparkly & anyone else who is interested: At the end of this post, I posted 2 links that talk about the hotline.
It is called Regesh, it is anonymous, and the number is: (732) 367-7700.
You don’t have to have a serious problem to call, so she might not be offended if you suggest that she calls as long as you are very careful how you say it. I would also make sure that I brought it up at an appropriate moment in a conversation. For example when she is complaining about something, you can suggest that she call. Or maybe just casually mention that you heard about this great hotline for teens and that you were thinking of calling for advice. IF you do it that way, she won’t feel like a nebach case!
Actually, the best idea would probably be for you to call up and ask them for advice regarding how to help her or how to get her to call. In addition to the fact that they may be able to advise you, you can then casually mention to her that you recently called this hotline for advice and they were really helpful!
It also might be helpful for you to have someone to talk to if you are planning on continuing to try to help her.
Kol Hakavod for caring so much about your friend! It should be with hatzlacha!
Sorry, took out the links
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantgofish: “lilmod ulelamaid, I am talking about new policies made this year.”
Sorry, I didn’t realize that. I don’t know what’s been happening there the last 6 years. I thought that your info might be old cuz I heard that many years ago.
It does sound like this girl’s case might be different. I think the best thing for her to do is just to apply w/o asking too many questions beforehand.
Lilmod UlelamaidParticipantGolfer and Sparkly – you don’t know the circumstances. When someone is not allowed to see their kids, there usually is a very good reason and we have a chiyuv to assume that there was a good reason and not to add to the Motzi Shem Ra people spread about the Frum world! By writing such things, one increases Sinas Chinam!
