TM: Yes, thank you, I was indeed aware that my title applied redundancy. However, I deemed it necessary to include the word “spicy” in the title so that readers familiar with the condiment would read “schoog” as it is pronounced, and readers who were unaware of kosher product, or at least its name, would know what type of Kosher Product they would be encountering in this thread.

    Thank you again.

Whoa! Blueberries are berries, but not strawberries, according to Wiki:

“In the first image, only the blueberry is botanically a berry: blackberries are aggregate fruit composed of many drupelets, and strawberries are aggregate accessory fruits. Sloes, the fruits of Prunus spinosa, are drupes. Avocado fruit are described as either drupes or berries. Serviceberries, fruits of Amelanchier species, are pomes. Mulberries, the fruits of Morus nigra, are multiple fruits.” (WIKI)

Health: If you received your first and only Meningitis vaccine at age 20, do you need to be vaccinated again at any other point in your life if you’re not working in healthcare?

For students not living in university housing, my local university asks to either prove that one was vaccinated within the last 5 years, or sign a waiver.

Google says that the vaccine lasts about 5 years.

My doctor said that she never heard of people getting it multiple times, unless maybe someone was working in healthcare.

My pharmacist read me the paper that she had in the back, which said something about it depending on one’s age when receiving one’s first Meningitis immunization shot.

Thank you for your Health info!

East12th: Interesting… My doctor told me that it would be required if I was going into Medical School, or Nursing School, even if I did not live in the dorms.
I thought that students in dorms were required to get it because they live in cramped quarters, like dogs are required to get more vaccines if they are going to be boarded.

    Thank you πŸ™‚

“Blueberry pie was first eaten by early American settlers and remains a popular dessert in the United States and Canada” (Wiki).

    Nechomah: Thank you πŸ™‚

So, I was a bit more specific when I told him that I had to be somewhere. When I first came in, after telling him that I was not interested in buying anything and was just there to look and that was it, I told him that I had a “class” to go to soon, so I only had like less than five minutes.

Later, his personal questions were still sales-interested, in my humble opinion. As I was rushing from the back to the front of the store, he told me to come back when I had more time. I think I said, “Okay thank you. Bye.”

Then he asked me where my class was located. I told him the name of the city, thinking that he would realize that I was in a super rush and leave me alone, since it was about an hour away.

“Do you live there too?” was his response.

For the record, I do not live in that city, or near the mattress store either. I just happened to be in the area for an appointment.

Anyway, I didn’t respond or give him more answers. Just “bye thank you!”

Luckily the store was relatively small! πŸ™‚

Joseph: Thank you. Yes, I intentionally did not ask him about any prices. Once, I looked down at a price of a mattress, and then caught myself, so I looked back up —but not before experiencing shock that I was staring at a $4,850 comfortable rectangle.

I like blueberry pie, but did not eat it when I had the chance to consume a delicious looking homemade wild blueberry blueberry pie with pareve whipped cream.

Now, if we have more posters confess their delight in partaking in blueberry pie (even if they choose not to eat it, at no fault of the pie), then we can see if we’re alike.

Hashem put you here for a reason, and that’s to serve him by bringing light and blessings to the world.

When I’m feeling down, I remind myself (and it’s not always easy), that Hashem has a purpose for me being in and experiencing this moment… If I’m going somewhere where I may face challenges, I pray for Hashem to make my presence a blessing to the world -it keeps me going.

“PS, Lightbrite, I don’t think you meant it this way, but I find it obscene to consider suffering from spousal abuse as a specific indicator to do tshuva. The person’s spouse is an abusive evildoer, who has full responsibility for what they do. Your assumption sounds too much like blaming the victim” (yichusdik)

yichusdik: I feel the same way! I was saying that I read an article that indeed said that teshuvah would solve a spousal abuse problem, which bothered me because it is yes, blaming the victim.

Glad that someone else empathizes as well!

Omgosh!!! How did I miss this thread? πŸ™ˆπŸ™Œ

Once I ground flaxseeds in a coffee grinder, and mixed them with some sort of syrupy sweetness and then maybe out it in the fridge.

I called it: Poor Man’s Halvah

    Here’s a better Poor Man’s Halvah Recipe:

    1 cup Sesame seeds
    Enough maple syrup
Some sort of meringue froth maybe

Grind sesame seeds in coffee grinder until you get powder. The oils may make it sticky.

Mix sesame seed paste with maple syrup until it is sweet.

Maybe mix with some meringue, or not.

Place in pre-cooking-spray-sprayed glass dish, and squish glob down with the rear of a spoon, compressing the mixture.

    Refrigerate.

If you want to step it up a notch, you can cube the refrigerated Poor Man’s Halvah into small chunks, and mix them into ice cream.

I prefer vanilla ice cream as the base for this Halvah-inspired yummy yumm, but RebYidd23 does not.

    Thank you and enjoy πŸ™‚

Are there any Jewish names that are just two letters?

Do you know what I mean?

I’ve known individuals whose parents either named them with only two letters, or purposely gave them a first name and middle name so that they can just refer to their child by the acronym of their names.

For example, real names or nicknames:

    DJ
    JD
    BJ
    RJ

Interesting how they all have *J*s

….fyi, I don’t mean like acronyms for Rabbonim, such as Rambam, etc.

Baruch Hashem, as far as I know, my food is mostly food. I don’t want to know more.

I eat pretty much only whole foods, processed yogurt, processed water, and bagged salads.

Once in a while, I’ll find larger insects in certain packaged salad, or organic celery stalks —but that’s normal, right?

When I was a kid, I found a leaf in my 100% fruit juice grape juice juice box.

I saved it for a few days in the gsrage, hoping to sue the manufacturer. I think I may have called the 1-800 number. I don’t know. I eventually threw it out, giving up on becoming a millionaire by lawsuit.
