Mouthwashes may contain one or more of the following poisonous ingredients* that can be harmful if swallowed at high doses:

    -Fluoride (sodium fluoride)

    -Chlorhexidine gluconate

    -Ethanol (ethyl alcohol)

    -Hydrogen peroxide

    -Methyl salicylate

*Compilation from NYTimes Health Guide pages on Fluoride and Mouthwashes; some ingredients may be missing from this list.

Understandable. Esp when your entire social group consists of those high school kids. Do you have friends from other activities or shul?

When I was in high school, people told me that the kids that bothered me in high school wouldn’t matter when I got older. It was so true! Some of them, I later learned, thought that I was pretty okay. They just were too insecure to say anything.

Yay computer class! That’s awesome. One thing is still a good thing 🙂

Focus on that, if you can. I know it’s hard to deal with other girls. Sending you love.

    From About dot com:

“Cheesecake is believed to have originated in ancient Greece. Historians believe that cheesecake was served to the athletes during the first Olympic Games held in 776 B.C….

Alan Davidson, author of the Oxford Companion to Food, wrote that, “cheesecake was mentioned in Marcus Porcius Cato’s De re Rustica around 200 BCE and that Cato described making his cheese libum (cake) with results very similar to modern cheesecake.”

The Romans spread cheesecake from Greece to across Europe. Centuries later cheesecake appeared in America, the recipes brought over by immigrants.”

For anyone who even only remotely understands what it is like to live under the hand of a father who makes a fit when things do not go his way, puts on a great show for the public, and goes off on tyrants, saying that Ivanka and her family could have been dealing with a pikuach nefesh situation is an understatement.

    My thoughts exactly!

He really makes a scene when he doesn’t get his way. I can only begin to imagine the type of pressure she and Jared are under.

Plus Melania will be spending the rest of the school year in NY with their son.

Trump may be extra demanding in a separation anxiety magnified meltdown.

You said that you still have a year and a half. That’s enough time to make a change. You’re not in school to please your teachers. You’re in school for your own benefit. Ultimately this is for you.

Just because it’s not great doesn’t mean that it has to be a catastrophe.

Surely there is something that you do like about school?

Also, those girls don’t matter. You are great and one day b”H these experiences will be far gone. In order to get to this place, first please… tell me, what’s good about school?

What are three things that you like about school? Even getting out of the house for a few hours could be something, etc:

    1) ?

    2) ?

    3) ?

What happens when you’re at at store and they play Xmas carols? Can you still shop?

Didn’t we have a thread on this? Or is Xmas music different than Xmas carols, which are traditionally sung in the church (at least that’s what they show on tv).

Not necessarily. If a woman converts to Judaism; promising to keep the 613 mitzvot and does so sufficiently as a frum Jew, and has children; then her children are Jewish.

If she happens to go OTD the following year, are her children no longer Jewish? Does someone come in and strip away their neshamot?

A couple of items in my closet that I still wear I’ve had for a decade.

My dresses are newer because of the whole tznius conversion. Though, maybe I will report back in four to six years and tell you if I still wear them, bli neder.

At this point, does it matter if Ivanka is halachically Jewish?

If Jared is observing the mitzvot that he strives towards and Ivanka is helping him, which is something that only he and Hashem can know, and her children are considered halachically Jewish, then is the controversy so important that one must potentially speak LH here?

yehudayona: On my 18th minute of this video. Thanks!

    From OU Kosher:

“There are currently several OU-certified companies that produce fish gelatin. Of course, there are products that require beef gelatin, and no suitable alternative exists.

The kosher consumer will be pleased to note that the OU certifies such a gelatin as well. This special kosher gelatin is made exclusively from the skins of kosher ritually slaughtered cows.

Strikingly, this variety of beef-derived gelatin is considered pareve, and may even be combined with dairy ingredients! Although kosher laws are very strict concerning the segregation of milk and meat, the processing of these hides renders them pareve.

Therefore, even kosher milk chocolate delicacies can be made with kosher beef gelatin. Orthodontists of the world rejoice: every sticky gummy treat is now available to the kosher consumer.” (OU)

I think LU has three modes:

    1) Awake, when she can post at any time, and call the LH hotline

    2) Halachic, which is her “off” feature, that provides us with masterful halacha and further information

    3) Shabbos, self-explanatory

Wait what if the poison tastes good?

The mouthwash didn’t taste so great when I swallowed it, but a lot of that was psychological. I knew that it had fluoride, which is toxic if swallowed in high doses (way beyond what they put in our water).

If someone knowingly ate a yummy poisoned muffin, would a borei nefashos be appropriate?

dooksta123: I know someone who used to also say it 100 times a day, at least. Hashem got him out of a very traumatic situation, listening to his prayers.

He was so grateful that he set an alarm every five minutes to thank Hashem. He did this for years. Then tapered to seven minutes. Then 30 minutes.

It was compulsive, in a sense; however, it made him feel closer to Hashem.

If it’s not disruptive to your personal or professional life, or relationships, then maybe it is healthy for you and bringing goodness in your life.

I thought that we both say that Hashem is blessed as well Bless Hashem, and bestow blessings upon Hashem through our mitzvot and love.

About the fish sticks, I recently read an imamother thread that mentioned a fallen fish stick that was basically liquid hallowness in the center. So odd!

When I was a kid, I remember fish sticks having fish inside them. Then again, what did I know, I was a kid. I thought fish sticks were fish sticks. I guess that they’re more like fish-flavored fried breaded rectangles that my mom baked.

It was def way less than 3 ounces. I think the cap that I pour it into is about an ounce. I didn’t even swallow a full cap-full either.

However, I really did gulp down a lot. Enough to question if I should call the Poison Control, but baruch Hashem it wasn’t that bad.

So I don’t need to make an after bracha, it seems.

Though, you asked if I say a bracha on medicine. There is a special bracha to say on medicine. I really want to get into the routine of saying it though when I do take medicine.

jhonny appleseed: It’s so true! Listen to LU. You have no other option. You will graduate. I hated it too, especially my last two years. I was depressed and cried a lot. A lot!

My mom really saved me by writing me notes for excused tardies. I think I came to school late more days than not in my last year, at least. I would take so long to get ready for school, literally waiting for my anxiety to settle.

I couldn’t drop out. I knew that. Most of my effort was spent getting to class on time, staying in school, and making the best out of the classes that I did like, such as Art and English.

Focus on what you like about school. We’re here for you too. You’re going to do it. Grab onto a class, or teacher, and do whatever you need to do to feel good and think about it in terms of projects, rather than time. At least, that helped me. I thought about what art projects I had left, or essays to write. I would have gone crazy if I was one of the students who counted down the days.

You will graduate. I promise. You can do this. You’re so close. Keep going. Promise you will feel so great when you’re done 🙂

They may not have a living Rebbe but they still have very influential leaders.

Though in my experience, Chabad is more accessible and available, so the rabbis can get to know their community members better.

I haven’t been on CR long enough to speculate if the Mods are new.

Why isn’t it possible that something came up and Mods are juggling more right now?

Or maybe one Mod left the position, went out of town, has a persistent cold, has a night job, had a baby, etc.

Does anyone here pay for their CR account? I don’t. I do get antsy when I want to read my post and read new posts and there is a wait. However, Mods are humans too.

Someone a while ago said that the Mods sometimes have to research our posts to determine whether or not the content is appropriate.

Maybe the YW Editor made new regulations for Mods to follow when screening posts? Maybe the system is slower and the Mods are the same. Maybe maybe maybe so many ideas.

Thank you Mods, from now and then, for making the CR possible 🙂
