What’s Texas like? Aren’t the summers over 100 degrees and somewhat expensive for AC electricity?

    Regular potato fries imho

    Potatoes are nightshades.

    Sweet potatoes have beta carotene.

But it prob depends on the person. Not healthier for someone allergic to sweet potatoes.

in reply to: When did hats get so big? #1216879

Maybe because houses and shul got bigger.

Closets too. More storage to fit those hats.

    Maybe also heads got bigger.

With more access to food and such. Maybe hats are less heavy now that bones are stronger.

Aren’t the children of immigrants often taller too?

    Yay is this it?

…”The Shevet HaKehosi (1:7) brings from the Yosef Ometz”…

    “Dressing

The Mogen Avrohom brings from sources in Kabbalah that you should not put on two articles of clothing at one time because it makes you forget things (Kosheh L’Shikcha).

It is brought from the Arizal that a certain holy light cannot envelop the inner garment if put on in this manner. It seems from both the Mogen Avrohom and the Arizal that taking off two garments at once is permitted.

We find some great tzaddikim (including Rav Aharon MiBelz and the Shulchan HaTahor of Komarna) were Makpid not to take off two garments at once.

Why? The Shevet HaKehosi (1:7) brings from the Yosef Ometz that if you take off for example two shirts at once, since they remain stuck one inside the other, when you get dressed again you may put them both on together. Therefore in order to avoid such an occurrence you should take of each garment separately.”

Yes it’s correct LU. Putting on two (or more than one) shirts at once can cause one to forget Torah.

Heard it last week from a rabbi on a TorahAnytime shiur.

He said that if one is hasty with getting dressed he can be hasty with his learning. — This applies for men specifically. Since men have a chiyuv to learn.

Will see if I can find the shiur.

LU taught me that the reason why you cannot see the user’s profile and posts is because there is a space in the name.

When I click on yours Thinking out loud, it’s also an error page.

I think Randomex said to put a dash where the spaces are and you can find the person’s profile using the URL that way

Why did I think Neville Chaimberlin was a woman?

I meant that the “Blocked” was word play by the Mods. Instead of Blocked as a user in the traditional sense, they meant that Chamberlain “Blocked.”

” between 26 January and 20 February 1939, Chamberlain also issued guarantees of Switzerland, Belgium and the Netherlands, believing through such diplomatic devices he could block Hitler from waging aggression in Western Europe” (Wiki)

    Yehudayona +1 (Lol!)

Thank you. I def was raised in the Western World and yesterday was the first time I’ve heard of a bungalow colony.

When I was younger, I learned about rich New Yorkers going to the Hamptons (I think even Seinfeld talked about it).

But bungalow colonies…that’s news to me.
