Thanks to the Mods and the Yeshiva World News for letting me be here today.

Last month I sent a message asking for my account to be removed. I was feeling fed up between a lot of things going on in the CR and didn’t want to be a part of it. Later I noticed that some posts were approved and I don’t know if they are still there or what.

Regardless I needed space and felt like maybe my frustrations were an indication that it was time to leave.

A lot of miracles have happened recently, of which I am thankful for thank G-d. At the same time, I have missed you guys and have been keeping up with your threads.

    Thank you for caring.

Do cleaning products need to be kosher for Passover?

And/or do you mean to make sure that I do not clean my night guard with chametz containing products?

    Thank you

CTLAWYER: The Best Bubby posted before the change, when threads were divided into several pages of posts. It is possible that The Best Bubby did not see the posts because they were on another thread. Furthermore, it may happen that someone coming into the game may post an already posted food.

While it may be assumed that the food must be new or not yet listed, once in a while a repeat may come up.

Yes we can challenge ourselves by sticking to new words. Meanwhile, for me at least, it does not make such a difference if a fluke repeat comes into the scene. All I need to do is figure out something else with the second letter.
The Best Bubby: Thank you; I appreciate hyour contributions and hope to see you posting again.

He said that being a sofer would be a more sought after career. With more soferim to produce mezuzot and more work for them, they could lower the price of mezuzot because they would have more business anyway. So a sofer wouldn’t need to raise the cost of a mezuzah.

Plus what else goes into it besides the sofer’s work? Materials? Ink? Parchment?

Parchment and ink would be reduced in cost. The sofer would be able to get a better deal if the demand was higher.

Also… here is my additional hypothesis: Perhaps the sofer’s education and experience would be more accessible and less expensive. Where did he study? Apprentice? What if the higher demand, meant more sofrim of high expertise, and prospective sofrim had more places allowed him to learn the art from masters? Perhaps they can even bring on apprentices.

I wonder about the last post times too. Maybe someone else posted also so yours is not the last? I don’t understand it and would like a CR Guidebook to the Changes.

Also I would like to be able to edit my posts. I pray that this editing feature will return.

    About women following their instincts;

Last year I had a situation with a creepy neighbor who told me about a flat tire. At first I thanked him so much for letting me know.

Soon after he was at my door knocking loudly to tell me that my tire was flat again. I thanked him and didn’t give him my number like he asked.

He gave me his number and I left it at that. He really made me uncomfortable.

I started ignoring him from then on. Not making eye contact. Never saying Hi even when he did. Even had a male family member tell him off to never rapproach me again.

Thank G-d he moved. I have felt more comfortable in my neighborhood since he moved.

Yesterday I learned that after I started ignoring him, he started pestering another female neighbor who recently moved into the neighborhood.

He told her that she had a flat tire. Then did it again. She exchanged numbers with him. He started texting her like crazy with creepy stuff. He eventually moved but still contacts her sometimes. As of now, she is not taking further action.

    Anyway…

I weighed the risk of not telling him with the risks of opening that door of communication with him and his friends. I chose to play it safe.

In the event that chas v’shalom thus “mitzvah” that I did later turned into more frequent contact and then issues with his older friends or whatever, how many of you posters would go at me telling me that it was my fault for not guarding my tznius?

If I came here saying that I am having problems with guy neighbors and mention that it all gradually started when I knocked on his door to let him know about his keys before skipping home, would no one here tell me that it wasn’t right to do that in the first place, especially because it was not appropriate contact, he wasn’t in danger, any risk of someone else grabeing his keys was low, and maybe even Hashem was testing me to see if I was going to take the bait?

It is not a mitzvah if it compromises someone’s emotional and physical safety.

Why can I not think of an embarrassing moment to share here?

    There has to be something.

    Did I repress embarrassed memories.

Oh I know one but am too embarrassed to say.

I can say that I almost tripped while walking across the stage at my graduation. Oh! And I said Hi to someone that I didn’t know. I thought that it was my friend. It was not. I held up the line of graduating students thinking it was her (from the back of her head) that I stopped the line to wave Hi in her face and it was super awkward and I thought that maybe it was still her and just looked different in a graduation robe.

Adjusting to the change may take time.

There are some features that I liked in the previous CR that are missing here.

At the same time, I know that the YWN people and Mods worked really hard and put their love into this meal for us.

This is what we have. Out brains need to adjust a to see what is wonderful. In time it will be easier.

Think of it like a grownup CR or something. Advancing with the times.

Are they still grown in soil? Or in pots?

All the more reason to use them.

I recently discovered them. I have a nightguard and my dentist gave me free samples of denture cleaning tablets to clean it.

Then I learned that it cleans my sink too.

Wondering about where else to use it for Pesach cleaning (obviously officially kashering surfaces is still required. Still this is a cool way to do the preliminary work)

It is about tznius. And more than that.

Wow. I came back to say whoa, I am totally not going to talk to him and don’t want to talk to my neighbor.

He is a guy and has guy friends over. They work for a local food delivery service.

I don’t want to be the nice older neighbor next door. I mean, I want to be nice, but prefer keeping my distance.

Furthermore, my go-to neighbor has not been validating when I had issues with a persistent person who was seriously threatening in the past. She thought that I was making it up. Even after I gave her evidence of the person’s name and details from law enforcement on the events that occurred, it was her husband that told me to protect myself. I felt that she shrugged it off, and while I love her and appreciate her for her great social qualities, I also need to be mindful that by sharing with her, I may be sharing with all of my neighbors.

Anyway, thank you for helping me clarify myself here.

    Heart you all.

apushatayid: Does doubting one’s honesty in the CR conflict with judging people favorably?

Isn’t it an assumption that someone is lying and manipulating in the CR?

Furthermore, even if one out of a certain amount of posters is simply playing, does that mean that every poster should be approached with caution and not taken seriously ever? Never deserving of respect?

Are you asking us to also stop taking your posts seriously too then? Maybe you’re just playing around too. Why hear you out?

Syag Lchochma: You said, “see this is the part that gets really annoying. NOBODY said not to return the keys, NOBODY said to leave someone at a loss.” (SL)

There was no property lost here to return. His housekey was in his door. The keys were hanging. It would not have been appropriate for me to remove the keys from his property.

You know what, this is silly. I can just ask him what he would have preferred that I do yesterday. I do not want to give him my phone number and do not want his phone number. He has guys over sometimes and I don’t want to open up any doors here. I think that I just heard him leave his house.

Anyway. Whenever I see him next, I will say something about it. And/or ask my other neighbor what she thinks that I should have done. She would have no problem knocking on doors. She used to be part of the HOA, has lived here for a relatively long time (almost two decades), is married, and the most talkative of the neighbors. She is my go-to person here.

    Thank you

Joseph, I like how you asked a question to demonstrate to sarit90 that my perspective is coming from a secular upbringing.

No, sarit90, I did not grow up frum.

Honestly, until maybe last year, I thought that Yehoshua was a totally Christian invention or play on a Jewish name because I only heard about it in reference to J****, and never in the Torah.

So if I was judging by the name only, on whether or not the person with this name was Jewish or Christian, I would not know.

    That’s just me though.
