Anyone know of a personal SMS via Email account provider?

Right now all I found was ones for businesses. But so far it looks like there is a way for people to receive SMSs straight to email.

I just Googled “how to receive sms online” and got a list of results.

DY: True but it sounds like right now WTP doesn’t want that so and there must be a way for her to get what she needs without getting another phone. Maybe we can help her do it. At least help her know all of her options and explore what works best for her.

    LU: You’re welcome πŸ’–

RY: Good try bit nope on both.

It is lightning #1: Turns out that my dog is not afraid of lightning either, like LU’s niece. It made me think that I guess being scared of lightning is something we’re taught. My dog is scared of being on busses and elevators. But he just looks at lightning.

It is the river #3: One of my phones broke after getting swept up in the tide after a tropical storm came in. I did not realize the storm tide went back so far on the beach, so my bag ended up getting swept up a but but thankfully I caught up to it in time. I grabbed my bag to rest in a higher elevation, and then brought it home to air and rice out, but that was enough to end its operation from there.

After another phone fell into the river. I fished it out of the bottom, and a good 24+ hours in rice B”H was enough to get it back.

Ugh sorry! I am reading posts from 2014 that say SMS goes into your phone.

Wait there is such a thing as text to voice. I had a friend in school who had all his texts converted to voice because he is losing his sight.

I wonder if there is a way to get any texts go straight to voicemail on your phone?

Maybe there is an *assistive technology* for a regular cell phone (*the word the office for students with different abilities for such types of tech that helped people be more independent) that was created for individuals who needed it before smartphones were invented?

WTP, how about asking your IT people about Skype?

Maybe there is a way to get an SMS on Skype instead?

At least for texting a cell phone from your end, there is a SMS charge of 9.7 cents for an Israeli number, with a 4.6 cent connection fee. I think that is for sending an SMS to an Israeli phone, but maybe there is a way for texts to come in bypassing your phone and go to Skype?

    What about Skype?

It looks like it costs money, Skype Credit, but I think you can use your Israeli number.

I still find it interesting that someone can dislike vanilla. What is there not to like? Is it vanilla everything? To me it’s like water. Sweet delicious water. Point is that it is neutral. But maybe I am biased. No I am definitely biased.

Maybe you can get a smart phone for work and leave it at that.

I know a lot of people who have a separate work phone. It doesn’t stop the issue of it being a compromise on something that you otherwise promised you would never do but the circumstances seem to be that it is the best thing because you need it to continue working and being there for your family. So maybe with emuna here, Hashem needs you to have a smartphone and this is the only way it was possible.

You are a fighting for Hashem. I don’t think you’re losing.

And just because you get a smartphone for work does not mean that you have disgraced yourself otherwise.

Yes you may become more familiar with it and realize that in itself it is not an evil object. The power comes from its door.

But that is just my opinion and I say that after having resisted a smartphone for nearly 5 years or so, assuming that I was getting around just fine, only to realize later how much it helped me become more independent and organized, and navigationally coordinated once I had one in my life.

    B’Hatzlacha! You’re a warrior πŸ™‚

It’s not negative. Rainy day could be that one cannot just take a walk outside because of one’s immune system, he or she may be advised to be cautious and not go running around getting cold and wet on a rainy day. So besides reading a book, cleaning the house, baking, playing a board game, or talking and napping (either separately or at the same time), one may find that having money is very useful since now this person can afford to drive an hour north where it’s not raining, or go to a science center, and/or go to the moon where it’s not raining. Flying to the moon is expensive. Ask NASA. Yepp yepp. πŸ™‚

Thanks LU. It still made sense and honestly thank you because I didn’t consider the non-LOR.

This person’s rabbi is the most LOR – that LOR’s shul is within walking distance to this person.

I don’t know if everyone chooses a fitting rabbi. In this case, I think it’s more like the person is in awe of the rabbi and wants to be on that “higher” level of spirituality and existence, or the proper term here. Learning with some rabbis comes with status, and the rabbi holds weight in the community.

I don’t know about the fishyness in WTP’s sense, but to me it isn’t fair. Just because someone is happy to give and all too willing to be generous doesn’t mean that it’s a good thing and a mitzvah when it negates other priorities. — Honestly, I was amazed when my LOR taught me that years ago! I had no clue! Even his younger son agreed at the Shabbos table. It was obvious to them. But I was so used to hearing about how tzedakah is so important that I thought I wasn’t supposed to have any money, which wasn’t fun because then I relied on tzedakah (!) — It’s confusing.

You know, thank you because this whole posting made me realize how sometimes being of meager means is a blessing! Well I’m a woman anyway. But still, it must be hard to have some money and be successful and have different causes pulling on you to donate, and as long as no one sees what goes on at home and in the bank account, one can keep up a front. When does it stop? Not everyone will stop or wants to stop. It’s a big test to say No sometimes.

    Thanks!

    Oh oh oh oh!!!

Yesterday I listened to a shiur by a rebbetzin on TorahAnytime!

She said that we’re not supposed to die for Hashem but LIVE for Hashem. She said that dying is one time. You die. It’s much harder to live every single day for Hashem, passing each new test that comes our way. Hashem wants us to live for him. He created the world for life. The Torah for LIFE.

I kept thinking about this thread πŸ™‚

When he’s not in Israel, maybe he can just the public school foods that he cleared for our children. Of course his son isn’t getting the luxury of the new public school menu.

Some real things aren’t tangible. We fight the yetzar hara daily, but can you prove it?

Is your account of the struggle enough for someone to say that it’s real?

Speaking of real, do any of today’s motion pictures use film reels? Weddings are all in digital? Does anyone have an old school film of their wedding? So cool.

Last month I talked to a photographer at my eye doctor’s office. He was at least in his 70’s (told me about life back in the day) and said that he has tons of film strips from his photography collection. Are those images real?
