Does everyone really want to be like his or her parents, given the ideal growing-up circumstances?
I don’t know if it’s possible with the way generations change and so do environments, which isn’t necessarily a bad or good thing.
LightbriteParticipantSorry LF… sending you refuah mihirah vs shleimah prayers!
Maybe we can send you some activities? Sudoku? Play doh? Tetris?
Baruch Hashem… it’s almost Shabbos… are you planning on letting your flue fly? I hear the flue likes to socialize.

December 7, 2017 1:41 am at 1:41 am in reply to: Calling All Chacha-Chacha Hebrew and Yiddish Readers! #1421721LightbriteParticipantLol…. I guess it’s spelled Kacha kacha…
Dunno… to me, I read chacha as kaah-chah… not like Chanukah…
Guess you’re right… I wonder if others read it as I meant it
LightbriteParticipantAt Macy’s you can pretty much return anything and everything within one year of purchase with proof of purchase, regardless of the condition.
Macy’s return policy is an advantage over other stores

December 6, 2017 8:25 pm at 8:25 pm in reply to: Have you ever been mekarev a paleontologist? #1421556LightbriteParticipantIt’s true. Paleontologists are the easiest to mekarav, not like their counterparts.
LightbriteParticipantSorry iacisrmma for not dating it… I promised that I’d continue doing that… is there a way to halachically and morally end the contract with you please?
I know that you already told me the pronunciation of your username —thank you for that(!)
Do I have your permission to complete the contract retroactively last Kol Nidre? I thought about it then, but didn’t know the protocol.. maybe this is a Ask Your OR shaila?
Thank you iacisrmma, in advance, for your consideration.
LightbriteParticipantThey can do it today… just costs a lot of money and more resources would need to be funneled into the mission.
A relative of mine worked for NASA… after exploring this conspiracy theory of it never happened with him… I felt confident that the moon landing was real.
Conspiracy theories have a way to convince you otherwise…you can decide or deny whatever you wish.
LightbriteParticipantYes, but are we talking about room temperature wine?
And room temperature wine can still be heated by our hands…
Plus the stemware adds space on the table, since you can slip the base under your plate (so it takes up less table real estate).
LightbriteParticipantA wine glass “Flight Tree”
LightbriteParticipantOmgosh the yoebi is such a cool invention!
And you’re right… why should spilling wine glasses be a regular part of having a sedar meal (or Shabbos, or any meal with stemmed wine glasses).
Even a dinner of just adults sometimes results in tipped over glasses… hmm.
LightbriteParticipantMighty mug has a plastic stemmed wine glass with a suction gripper on the base… but that won’t work if you have a tablecloth… and that would mean that you’d have to buy a set of these wine glasses that are approx $18 each
LightbriteParticipantWhat about if it’s a child?
Or a dog? When I accidentally elbowed my dog in the face earlier this evening, I found him in the dark with my cell phone light, walked up to him, grabbed his face in between my hands, and gave him kisses where I think I elbowed him, all the while saying, “I’m sorry I’m sorry.”
If someone just looked at the moment in isolation, without seeing that it was unintentional on my part, I must have looked like a creepy abuser for a moment… but maybe my mom dd the same when I was young, and that was okay and appreciated… so I started this thread to see how others respond.
… it may be different for someone you love and/or is family because you wouldn’t necessarily be giving a stranger’s kid (or dog) a kiss in the same spot (if you do so at all), in such a case.
… anyway, just wondering what the options are here to express an apology and concern for the person hurt in thus scenario…
LightbriteParticipantIn first grade, every student was assigned a penpal from another school.
We met our penpal at the end of the year at a skating rink.
My best friend had a unisex name, and she was matched with a boy who thought that she 3as a boy too. The whole time, my friend didn’t want to say anything to disappoint him. So, on that penpal meeting day, she dressed up like a boy and talked in a different voice. I don’t remember how it ended.
LightbriteParticipantMaybe this person is tired and his body needs to sleep?
How many people want to fall asleep in public in such a way whe others would feel justified to make fun of him?
… our bodies don’t give us the choice to not sleep… chronic lack of sleep is linked to a plethora of illness.. we need sleep to repair our cells and process information…
Why do those who defy their body’s need for sleep with mega caffeine deserve praise, when the busy worker, father, and husband is criticized for being human?
And yes…. I know that CTLAWYER and generations before him made do on like 4 hours of sleep… but his story is not evidence to say that it’s a healthy way to live, especially not for the majority of humans…
In my humble opinion…. It’s not fair to judge someone for being tired and falling asleep unintentionally…
Wait… Am I taking a silly thread seriously here? Maybe everyone knows what I just said and this thread was just playing… Oops. Thank you.

Your suggestion was great… so I took pics of him eating a pseudo and minimally oily latke*
*Latke was made from coleslaw and egg whites lightly fried in a latke shape π
.. I put two unlit Chanukiot by him on the table, each with all 8 candles and the shamash… and staged the set with a table cloth, colorful backdrop, etc.
B”H they can and will use one of these pics for their holiday post

Cholent (chamin) bean mix….looks like a bag of mixed beans (Kidney, Navy, and maybe others)… no seasonings or anything added here.
