LevAryehMember
Not going to promise, but iy”h we should be wrapping up shooting tomorrow. Hopefully we should have something out for Purim. Thanks for the support!
LevAryehMemberHow To Win Friends And Influence People, by Dale Carnegie
LevAryehMemberI don’t know about other cities, but Hatzolah of Lakewood only accepts married members.
LevAryehMemberGolan Heights Winery in Katzrin is beautiful. I’ve been there. The brands they produce are Yarden, Gamla, Mount Hermon, and Golan. It’s about a two and a half hour drive from Jerusalem.
LevAryehMemberIf you want to see a (presumably) non-drush explanation of the four yesodei habriah, see the Rambam Yesodei Hatorah end of perek gimmel/beginning of perek daled.
LevAryehMemberI know him for many, many years. Besides for being a very talented singer, he’s also a really sweet guy. Very easy to deal with.
LevAryehMemberHow did no one quote this yet???:
My belt holds my pants up, but the belt loops hold my belt up. I don’t know what’s really happening down there. Who is the real hero? – Mitch Hedberg
LevAryehMemberI think strawberry cola might know.
LevAryehMemberShe didnt seem to indicate otherwise
She said she wouldn’t eat at his house.
LevAryehMemberFebruary 9, 2014 4:10 pm at 4:10 pm in reply to: What did people do before measuring cups were invented? #1004169LevAryehMemberTorah613Torah – My comment was said tongue-in-cheek. I didn’t think they actually used conch shells either.
LevAryehMemberIf he thinks you’re being too OCD in your observance of kashrus, refer him to the eleventh perek of Mesillas Yesharim (about five pages in, depending on the print) where he talks about ma’achalos asuros.
For a real-life example of what he’s talking about, remember the Chicago Tylenol Murders, where an estimated 31 million bottles of Tylenol were recalled in response to a total of seven reported deaths.
February 6, 2014 10:30 pm at 10:30 pm in reply to: What did people do before measuring cups were invented? #1004159LevAryehMemberThis question makes no sense. Measuring cups by definition are used to measure a standard, agreed-upon measurement. That measurement could not have been agreed upon unless someone had a cup which held that amount, or was marked off to show that amount. Once you have one, you can make a million.
Unless you’re asking how people measured ingredients for recipes before they had standards for measurements. I presume they had to test proportions (5 horns of black pepper to 1 1/2 conch shells of baking soda) until they found something that worked, which is the same thing they do nowadays.
February 3, 2014 11:21 pm at 11:21 pm in reply to: Do people who are uglier have more yiras shomayim? #1002064LevAryehMemberThis question makes no sense because I’m super good-looking and I have loads and loads of yiras shamayim.
LevAryehMemberBecome a shomer kishuin?
LevAryehMemberRisingSun613 – Good point. Also if you never have kids, you don’t have to worry about them ever not being tznius.
LevAryehMemberIf you look in the Koren Tanach they have the “real” perakim printed on the side. I’m not sure what the origin of those are though.
Interestingly, in Tanach the perakim are insignificant and the pesukim are; while in Mishnayos the perakim are significant and the mishnayos are not.
LevAryehMemberP’rakim are of zero significance according to our mesorah.
LevAryehMemberSee Tosafos in Bava Kama 17a about gadol Talmud torah (don’t remember the d”h at the moment).
LevAryehMemberDon’t understand your logic.
$.07 (cork) + $4.00 is $4.07. Your missing $.03!
Hmmm … I think The Jewish Press got it right, and you got it wrong. $4.00 is not $4.00 more than $.07
LevAryehMemberHere’s a link. No Links Allowed
LevAryehMemberShould be cork $.05 and bottle $4.05, am I missing something here?
LevAryehMemberoomis – Not to be motzi la’az, but you can’t put Helfgot in the same sentence. As Yossele. (See what I did there?) At best, he is a chazunishe singer.
Also, I wouldn’t say that Kossevitsky reached his notes effortlessly. Watch videos of him singing and you’ll see that his face turns beet red. In contrast, Yossele barely moved when he sang.
LevAryehMemberWhat are the lyrics to the famous Lubavitch song “Oy oy oy”?
LevAryehMemberIn no particular order,
Rabi Yishmael Omer (Rosenblatt)
Yahrtzeit (Rosenblatt) tiny edit
Tiher (Kvartin)
Kel Malei Rachamim (Moshe Koussevitzky)
The word “Ravrivayah” in Zaroh (Rosenblatt)
LevAryehMemberdress up like the aveirah song guy
LevAryehMemberrationalfrummie – I don’t see how that conflicts with what I said, but if you want a nice explanation on that, see Ohr Gedalyahu on Chanuka (the one about Torah Sheba’al Peh). It’s a long piece, but somewhere in there he talks about this.
LevAryehMemberSorry to burst your bubble, but no two anything are exactly the same.
(Also see Rambam Yesodei HaTorah 1:7)
LevAryehMemberoomis, VERY well-said. There is no such thing as true morality. For us Jews, eating pork and marrying gays is as immoral as murder. Obviously there is a concept of mitzvos kalos and chamuros, but there is no external form of “morality” playing any role.
Lawrence Kellerman uses the human race’s general condemnation of murder as one of his four approaches to proving there is a god, in his book Permission to Believe.
LevAryehMemberI can’t, my smartphone is broken. (Did I really have to be the one to say that?)
LevAryehMemberGive me any object, and I’ll do this: http://www.theyeshivaworld.com/coffeeroom/topic/shidduchim-jokes-ver-1824#post-492957
LevAryehMemberPersonal choice would be Mesillas Yesharim, Alei Shur, and Igros Moshe, respectively. Tomar Devorah is a great sefer too, and generally not as hard to read as Mesillas Yesharim.
LevAryehMemberI don’t see how ????? ???? ????? ????? applies here. Unless you think he wanted actual water from the ???.
LevAryehMemberGo to the Kosel late (past 12-1 at night), unless you particularly enjoy Asian tourists with cameras.
LevAryehMemberChazon Ish in Bnei Braq had the same thing over Shabbos.
LevAryehMemberMachlokes Rambam and Raavad ????? ????? ??? ? ???? ??
LevAryehMember“If you can’t sleep, count sheep. Do not count an endangered species. You will run out.”
-Mitch Hedberg
LevAryehMemberTypical Modern Orthodox liberal viewpoint. (This is a test.)
you failed
LevAryehMemberI would eat it with my beans
I would eat it wearing jeans
I would eat it with my fries
I would eat it with some spies
While the cops get their sketch up
I would eat it WITH MY KETCHUP
LevAryehMemberOh NOOOO please don’t punish us! come back we NEEEEEED you omg
LevAryehMember*its
LevAryehMemberHi, I want to get a tattoo to express my individuality. Do you mind if I look through this book of tattoos you’ve done for other people?
LevAryehMemberI think Weiss geirim should only be allowed to marry other Weiss geirim.
LevAryehMemberBig deal. When I was in school they made us clean toilets as a punishment. When we were 8.
LevAryehMemberI wrote them a letter:
Stark Reality
So remember when you said that Max Stark had a list of enemies a mile long? Well I guess he had more friends than enemies, and now it looks like your list of enemies is two miles long.
January 2, 2014 11:34 pm at 11:34 pm in reply to: How to convince 18 year old that getting a job is as important as learning… #997117LevAryehMemberNext up: How to convince an adult not to rob an 18 year old boy of the opportunity to make the right choice.
LevAryehMemberShmeichel by Shloime Gertner
LevAryehMemberObviously.
LevAryehMemberOk, ???? is ??? ?? ????? ????.
December 30, 2013 10:53 pm at 10:53 pm in reply to: When people tell you unfunny jokes (especially with enthusiasm) #1003106LevAryehMemberNot all jokes have punchlines. Think about non-sequiturs.
Did you know that if you took all the arteries from your body and laid them end-to-end, you’d probably die because you would have no arteries.
If you were stranded on an island and you could only bring ONE food with you, you better hope you get rescued.
