הלא אח עשו ליעקב, Esav acts like a brother to Yaakov by thinking he will change him, but Yaakov does not trust his fake brotherliness to go after him, so Hashem loves Yaakov but not Esav.

The ahavah comes because of His greatness but now that very thing makes us repel Him. The closer we get, the further we get. That is the gemora’s kashye, how can we cleave to Him? So we are answered, to emulate His midos.

Ahava generates yirah. Take אהבה and יראה, starting from יראה the first two letters give יראה and the last two letters give אהבה. So, they need each other both have an אה in common.

Avira, I don’t understand that as when you love Hashem it is because of His goodness. You want to emulate Him and thereby being afraid not do anything where that love will be extinguished.

According to the wikipedia on James Hewitt:

Hewitt stated to the press in 2002 that Harry had already been born by the time of the affair, a statement also made by Diana’s police bodyguard.[23] He reiterated this in an interview in 2017.

The Ben Ish Chai says that the name שד-י the Almighty is the name to fight the yetzer hara with as when each letter of יצר is written in full יוד, צדי and ריש the last letters add up to שד-י. When we recognize the Almighty, we realize that He gives us the strength and abilities to be able to fight the yetzer hara. It says in the parashas Ki Seitzei that if we fight the yetzer hara, ונתנו ה’ אלקיך בידך, Hashem will help us to capture him. The Chasam Sofer gives us a practical means to fight him. It says ושבית שביו grab a methodology from the yetzer hara. He sways us away from Hashem step wise in slow increments. He does not want for us to violate the greatest aveiros but starts from the smallest ones first. Similarly when correcting ourselves we should improve ourselves by fixing incrementally our smallest violations first. It says סור מרע ועשה טוב, turn away from bad and do good בקש שלום ורדפהו, look for peace and chase it, fight it, fight the peace that the yetzer hara is making. There is always a conflict between body and soul. What one wants, the other does not. But the yetzer hara makes peace by having the soul want what the body wants. We should disturb this peace and have the soul do something that the body does not like and continue doing it until we make peace by having the body get used to it. Continue this by improving ourselves constantly in small increments.

The Chasam Sofer quotes Rav Nassan Adler who interprets the pasuk כי יתן איש אל רעהו כסף או כלים לשמור Hashem, who is called Ish, gives to His friend, to us money and utensils (eyes, ears and mouth includes also time) לשמור, to guard and use it properly וגונב מבית האיש, one still it away by not using it for the right purpose, אם ימצא הגנב ישלם שנים, if the burglar is found guilty, one must pay double כפלים one time for not listening to Hashem and twice for not letting Hashem do good אם לא ימצא הגנב, if one does teshuva from love so the violation is converted to benefits, ונקרב בעל הבית אל האלקים then the one will gets closer to Hashem provided אם לא שלח ידו במלאכת רעהו did not violate the laws of בין אדם לחברו of interaction of each other. This covers what we say at Kol Nidrei night in the Tefilas Zakai.

The Ramban says in parshas Achrei on אשר יעשה האדם וחי בהם, what a person does to live by that one gets the reward according to the intention for one’s service. If done for the benefit of this world, so will the reward be. The goyim would get rewarded for their actions in this world.

I will show with a knowledge of a little arithmetic (multiply and divide fractions) how we can get a good estimate from the Torah on the value of PI, the ratio between the diameter and circumference of a circle. The GRA uses the pasuk in Melachim (1,23) where there is a keri (the way read) קו and kesav, the way written קוה to estimate the value 3 x 111/106 = 333/106 = 3.141509 but PI is 3.1415926.. It was known long ago the fractional estimation to PI of 355/113 = 3.1415929 so let us see how we can arrive to this amount. Let us take the full word as written וקוה and read וקו. So take 3 x 117 / 112 = 351/112 adjusting the numerator by the number of letters 4 and the denominator by a kolel giving us our fraction of 355/113. We can do this as number of letters and a kolel as needed are usually added to a gematria.

The Kli Yakar uses the physical law that opposites react to explain the parah adumah. Why is it both tahor, pure and tamei, impure? This problem occurs if the parah adumah is made up of one entity. So he explains that parah adumah is comprised of two entities, water and earth. The water is tahor and the earth is tamei. When we place it on a tamei person, then the earth of the parah adumah has no reaction but the water does and makes him tahor. However, when placed on a tahor person, then the water has no reaction but the earth does, so it makes him tamei. The question is why didn’t Shlomo Hamelech, who was smarter than anyone, think of it? Maybe the mix of water being tahor with the tamei earth is a problem why it stays tahor?

Einstein’s theory of relativity explains how Hashem created something from nothing (energy). String Theory gives us more insight into creation. Science explains the meaning of עולם כמנהגו נוהג, the world behaves in natural fashion. Mathematics explains the expression that 1 in the length is 1 2/5 in the diagonal being the the square root of 2 by the Pythagorean Theorem derived through algebra with the help of geometry. Chemistry explains the unity of a tzibur.

Again, למודי חול can be used to understand Torah as I showed that a law in economics helps to understand a mishna in Bava Metzia, הזהב קונה את הכסף. So why is gold a commodity and silver the currency? People don’t want to spend the more valuable but hoard it. Gresham’s Law states that, the bad currency (silver) drives the good currency (gold) out of circulation.

My understanding is, that at the time he personally did not require someone to learn secular studies. However, if one does, he better not waste his time because that is bitul Torah but as it is necessary and one applies himself, it is not bitul Torah.

When we give something on behalf of something else than the second thing for which the first thing is given is more beloved than the first. We bring bikurim to show that Hashem is more beloved than the first fruits, which is much loved as the first dollar earned, is being sacrificed in His name by our recognizing all He has given to us. This is also the reason that we show recognition at the Hagaddah for Hashem taking us out from Mitzraim by saying the same pesukim.
