How can Chug Chatam Sofer give a hechsher if the Eida does not?
June 28, 2018 1:06 pm at 1:06 pm in reply to: The world is in a state of Geula- and don’t misunderstand us! #1548950Reb EliezerParticipantAll three pillars unify us. Torah mentioned above, Avoda , if davening, we show caring for others. If doing mitzvos, we can encourage others to do them. Gemilos Chasodim is obvious. All three have the same gematria 611. Avoda is the same as Yiras and Gemilos Chasodim.

This will correct the reason for the destruction of the temple and bring Moshiach speedily in our time, Amen.

Reb EliezerParticipantSomeone died because of seatbelts. He fell asleep in the back seat wearing seatbelts in the winter, the car skidded when hit by another car, made a short stop, and the seatbelts choked him.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe argument between the Aruch Hashulchan and MB above might depend if hair is hirhur or erva.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Aruch Hashulchan O”CH 75:7 allows davening infront of uncovered hair because we are used to it so it does not affect us and therefore there is no hirhur, but the MB 75:10 argues on it because two wrongs don’t make a right.
Reb EliezerParticipantAvi K, The Rambam you quoted above 1:3 says ולהוציאה שלא לצורך ולאבדה I don’t consider Talmud Torah spending without any purpose. If the yeshivas are not considerate what should he do? He can even borrow with ribus with a heter iska. This will not make him a rasha.
Reb EliezerParticipantAvi K, You are putting things in my mouth that I never said. It does not say anywhere that you should not ask for a scholarship. You borrow what is necessary for tuition (see the gemora Betzeh 16a on the top of the page). You should try to lower the tuition as much as you can because you might not be worthy for more because of your sins.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Agudas’ statement:
AGUDATH ISRAEL ON IMMIGRATION FAMILY SEPARATION POLICY: US HAS “MORAL OBLIGATION” TO “EXHIBIT HUMANITY AND COMPASSION”
Agudath Israel of America expresses its very deep concern and disappointment over the recently adopted policy of separating the members of families who have entered the United States illegally. It is a practice that has caused, and will continue to cause, profound suffering and pain to both parents and children. We implore that the policy be immediately rescinded, and that affected families be reunited. The problem of illegal immigration is a serious one, and we support reasonable efforts by the administration and legislature to effectively stem the flow of would-be immigrants who have not been accepted through the legal immigration system.
But the United States, a shining beacon of freedom in the world, must always exhibit humanity and compassion in its laws and policies. Seeking to enforce our statutes does not relieve us of this moral obligation. The extreme anguish, fear and trauma born of separating undocumented immigrant family members, which is particularly harmful to children, deeply offend our highest values. It is wrong and unjustifiable.
As Jews, we find this practice particularly loathsome. For millennia, Jews in the diaspora have suffered many forms of persecution, including — among the most tragic — the forced breakup of our families. It is a punishment that neither parents nor children should ever have to endure.
Reb EliezerParticipantTosfas in Betzeh 15b according to the Mahrshal answers that he can borrow if he has investments but no liquidity.
Reb EliezerParticipantAvi K, You opened up an interesting discussion. From the Rambam above is no prove as he uses the expression borrowing for no need but here there is a need for shabbos. The Aruch Hashulchan answers a contradiction because it also says עשה שבתך חול ואל תצטרך לבריות make your shabbos like a week day and don’t rely on others. So he says if he does not have a means of support, he should not borrow. What about tuition? Can you borrow for it when you don’t have the means to repay it? The above is not said on it but is one of the things that is not pre-determined and you should borrow to be able to pay it.
Reb EliezerParticipantakuperma, As I mentioned, Hashem wants us to borrow and He promises to repay, obviously fron a Jew where no interest is charged.
Reb EliezerParticipantלוו עלי ואני פורע Hashem says borrow on My behalf and I will repay. There are certain things that are not determined like tuition for Talmud Torah and Shabbos and Yom Tov expenses.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe total money spent is being determined not individual items. You can buy something else for the difference or give it to tzedaka.
Reb EliezerParticipantLook at the website of the National Agudath Israel about their statement for the moral obligation not to separate children from the parents and to reunite them.
Reb EliezerParticipantLook at the website of the National Agudath Israel about their statement for the moral obligation not to separate children from the parents and to reunite them.
Reb EliezerParticipantHow can the Parah Adumah be both tohar and tumah? The Klei Yokor uses the scientific rule opposites react. The Parah Adumah is made up of two parts, the water and the ground. The water is tahor whereas the ground is tamei. When you put it on a tumah person, there is no effect from the ground only from the water making him tahor, on the hand when you put it on a tahor person, there is no effect from the water but only from the ground, making him tumah.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe president would not sign an executive order if he would not see something wrong in tearing families apart by separating parents from children.
Edited
Reb EliezerParticipantAs you have heard even Pres Trump realizes that this behavior is inhumane and will sign an executive order to stop this.
Reb EliezerParticipantI left Hungary in the1956 revolution. We snuck through the border as a child to Austria avoiding search lights. I can’t imagine how my parents would have felt if we were separated. We spent two and half years in a displacement camp. Let Trump do the same thing keeping families together in a displacement camp waiting to be evaluated to come here.
Reb EliezerParticipantWhere is your rachmonus? These people are persecuted and forced to flee. Who knows how long it would take to come here legallly.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt could also be the concusion or result is,
Reb EliezerParticipantIt comes from the word wiesen, aus weisen to show not know because it is followed by aus.
Reb EliezerParticipantEs weisst aus means it shows also it looks like, in german.
Reb EliezerParticipantלא היה דברים מן העולם is la ha dahm, it never happened. It is applied in a loan dispute. The borrower says I never borrowed from you.
Reb EliezerParticipantFor the greatness of the averoh of Arkaos see the Rabbenu Bachaye in the beginning of Parshas Mishpotim.
Reb EliezerParticipantRav Moshe Stern Debretziner Rav undersigner passed away in 1997.
Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, when was this letter written? I see many undersigned not alive anymore.
Reb EliezerParticipantAccording to the o-u they add a starter butter for additional flavor from whey needs to be CY.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe supply is kept low in order to increase the price to satify the demand.
June 18, 2018 12:54 pm at 12:54 pm in reply to: Should serial killers be held responsible? (T) #1541589Reb EliezerParticipantThey are animals who can’t control their urges.
Reb EliezerParticipantRashi says that Korach was carrying the holy ark, what does he want to tell us by that? Korach claimed by birthright that the nisuis belongs to him because his father was older than Elitzofon’s father. if that is the case, he should not carry the holy ark since Gershom was older than Kehos. Therefore we go after merit and not birthright and his question is answered since Elitzofon can be more worthy than him.
Reb EliezerParticipantIf all are holy and heard on Har Sinai the Aseres Hadibros what makes Korach better? That is the point. Korach held that they all sinned by the Eigel includiing Aharon who contibuted to the sin, but Korach from Levi did not sin.
Reb EliezerParticipantI don’t want to take away the business from the shadchonim. A married couple can create a shidduch. The wife knowing the girl and the husband knowing the boy. I made a shidduch like this with my late wife a’h who passed away more than eight years ago.
Reb EliezerParticipantReb EliezerParticipantMoney can be a factor but not the main factor.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe 250 people put on a talis of all techeles, what was the purpose? The Ksav Sofer explains that ztitzis is a reminder of the mitzvos thereby a reminder of Hashem, which can be done without any techeles. Someone might need a picture to keep a person being missed infront of him because of his great love to satisfy their longing for him. Techeles is like a picture of kavayochel Hashem. They wore the talis of all techeles asking if it needs ztitzis to ascetain what Moshe Rabbenu thinks of them about their closeness to Hashem. When he said it still needs tzitzis, they got upset because they came to realize that Moshe Rabbenu believes that they are not close to Hashem.
Reb EliezerParticipantKilled for being a Jew is Kiddush Hashem. It says in Tzetil Katan 2 that in Krias Shma we should have in mind that a fire is burning, forced to convert and we throw ourselves in there for the name of Hashem rather than convert.
Reb EliezerParticipantNC, Look at my posts the Rashbam and the Yad Joseph. If you have a valid reason to hate him, don’t keep the hatred bottled up in your heart, but tell him about it.
Reb EliezerParticipantPaper to write seforim and printing press to print it.
Reb EliezerParticipantMaybe chinom means free with no restrictions since you are allowed to hate him.
Reb EliezerParticipantHealth, what does sinas chinom mean to you? if you are allowed to hate is it chinom?
June 13, 2018 2:16 pm at 2:16 pm in reply to: Should Trump be awarded the Nobel Peace Prize? #1538855Reb EliezerParticipantNo, not yet. The food put up for cooking is not ready yet. There is no sign of deneuclerization.
June 13, 2018 8:06 am at 8:06 am in reply to: Is there a connection between unpaid Shadchanus and the blazing Shidduch crisis? #1538486Reb EliezerParticipantPaying shadchanus is a segulah for a good marriage.
Reb EliezerParticipantWhat I said before is not correct. There is another level of sinas chinom where someone hates someone when he has a valid reason to hate him and does not tell the person about it but keeps the hatred bottled up in his heart. If he is a known rasha, you allowed to hate him so that you should not learn from him, אל תתחבר לרשע like it says don’t befriend a wicked person.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Torah is realistic. People tend to hate each other when they do bad to them. So the Torah says don’t hate him but tell him about it. If you don’t tell him about it, it is still asur to hate but not sinas chinom but hatred bottled up in the heart. If you will not tell him about it because it is not a valid reason to hate him, you will have sinas chinom which will fester forever. If a person is a known rasha, you allowed to hate him so not to learn from him.
Reb EliezerParticipantSinas Chinom is futile hatred with no benefit because the person hated will not change his ways causing hatred forever.
Reb EliezerParticipantSince it is important I will quote the Rashbam -If he does bad to you, don’t get to hate him (talk to him with nice words and in your heart plan against him) but admonish him for the bad deeds he has done to you which will eventually lead to peace. Says the Yad Joseph above that this only works for excusable hatred for offenses normally being hated for but for others he will not tell the hated individual because he has no valid reason to hate him, so he will keep his hatred bottled up in his heart causing sinas chinom.
