August 8, 2018 3:38 pm at 3:38 pm in reply to: If a pig was genetically modified to chew its cud, would it be kosher? #1571015Reb EliezerParticipant
I remember that a kosher animal that chews its cud has multiple stomachs so I don’t think this is scientifically possible.
August 8, 2018 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm in reply to: If a pig was genetically modified to chew its cud, would it be kosher? #1570919Reb EliezerParticipantAccording to the above Ohr Hachaim why do we need to create a new entity let us do a genetic modification to make it kosher?
August 8, 2018 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm in reply to: If a pig was genetically modified to chew its cud, would it be kosher? #1570916Reb EliezerParticipantThe Ohr Hachaim says in Parshas Shemini that there will be a new pig created by the redemption that will chew its cud which will be kosher. Aisov who is compared to the pig being fake showing its cut hoofs will repent and therefore it will become kosher.
August 8, 2018 2:04 pm at 2:04 pm in reply to: Is the goverment responsible to implicate the 7 mitzvos #1570901Reb EliezerParticipantThe Ramban says that the people of Shchem were responsible for not enforcing Sheva Mitzvos Bnei Noach and therefore deserved death.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe yahr zeit to remember him by is כואב, pain – the 26th of Av.
Reb EliezerParticipantSomething to remeber him by. It says in Parshas Eikev מראשית השנה עד אחרית שנה from the beginning of the year to the end of the year. Why is there a specific article ה ידוע in the beginning of the year. I heard the explanation in his name that every beginning of the year a person thinks this is the year (for the redemption), but at the end realizes that it is like any other year. This is the meaning of הן גאלתי אתכם אחרית כראשית it will be said that the redemption at the end will be like the beginning.
August 7, 2018 11:17 am at 11:17 am in reply to: Different Circles Of Yidden Can Experience Great Unity – Achdus #1570244Reb EliezerParticipantWe can create unity among the different groups according the writing of Rav Eliyohu Dessler in Mchtav Eliyohu saying that every group serves Hashem with their nature, some are cold and some are warm. There are different ways of serving Him. The importance is to serve Him and not how we serve Him.
August 7, 2018 10:39 am at 10:39 am in reply to: Different Circles Of Yidden Can Experience Great Unity – Achdus #1570199Reb EliezerParticipantIf unity is that knaidlach are good, I agree.
August 7, 2018 10:39 am at 10:39 am in reply to: Different Circles Of Yidden Can Experience Great Unity – Achdus #1570197Reb EliezerParticipantIf the unity comes about an agreement that Torah comes from Hashem no big deal they have unity. Also if there is one G-d unity is ensured.
August 7, 2018 10:38 am at 10:38 am in reply to: Different Circles Of Yidden Can Experience Great Unity – Achdus #1570126Reb EliezerParticipantIf the meeting about chasidus, it is great that they can have unity. So unity about what?
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Seforno says on ראה אנכי נותן לפניכם היום ברכה וקללה that there is no middle way either it is a blessing or vice versa.
August 6, 2018 2:50 pm at 2:50 pm in reply to: Most of us have heard and used the term siyata dishmaya .סייעתה דשמיה. #1569655Reb EliezerParticipantCould be a ת”ח should have שמינית שבשמינית 1/64 of humility which is the ר”ת of סייעתא דשמיא recognizing that he needs Heavenly help to find the truth in learning. I also heard that Mount Sinai the smallest mountain is 1/64th of the largest mountain Har Karmel.
August 6, 2018 12:32 pm at 12:32 pm in reply to: Most of us have heard and used the term siyata dishmaya .סייעתה דשמיה. #1569630Reb EliezerParticipantHow does one shteig (climb higher)? There is constantly a confilct between the body and soul. The Ben Ish Chay says the Shabbos is a day of peace because eating for shabbos sake unites them. To make peace and resolve them explains the Chasam Sofer we do something small for the benefit of the soul until the body gets used to it and continue this to improve ourself day by day. This is what is meant in סור מרע ועשה טוב בקש שלום ורדפהו turn away from bad and do good by creating peace (between body and soul) through fighting the peace.
August 6, 2018 12:32 pm at 12:32 pm in reply to: Most of us have heard and used the term siyata dishmaya .סייעתה דשמיה. #1569589Reb EliezerParticipantIt says שוב יום אחד לפני מותך repent a day before your death. As the person does not know when this day comes, he will repent every day. Every day he will climb to higher level so the yetzer hara becomes stronger, because כל הגדול מחבירו יצרו גדול ממנו, whoever is greater than his friend, his yetzer hara becomes also greater.
August 6, 2018 10:53 am at 10:53 am in reply to: Most of us have heard and used the term siyata dishmaya .סייעתה דשמיה. #1569490Reb EliezerParticipantHelp from Above is also required to understand and find the truth in our learning. The Chasam Sofer explains that the Torah has hidden treasures and through Hashem’s help they get revealed. The Hafloh says that a question comes from Heavenly help. I explained that the Jews encountered bitter water and through a bitter tree it became sweet. Comparing this to the learning of Torah, sometimes we don’t understand at all our learning making it completely bitter. We are helped to find the truth through a question, but a question itself without an answer is also bitter. When an answer is found, it becomes sweet.
August 6, 2018 10:52 am at 10:52 am in reply to: Most of us have heard and used the term siyata dishmaya .סייעתה דשמיה. #1569483Reb EliezerParticipantHeavenly help or help from the Heavens. It says יצרו של אדם מתגבר עליו בכל יום the yetzer hara of the person strengthens itself every day ואלמלא הקב”ה עוזר לו לא יוכל לו if Hashem would not help the person, he could not fight him.
Reb EliezerParticipantLook at Shut Yechaveh Daas 1:43 discussing the importance of saying Nachem even though some wanted to change it.
August 5, 2018 8:49 pm at 8:49 pm in reply to: President Donald Trump, Oheiv Yisroel Par Excellence #1569315Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph – There is a tefila אתה חונן לאדם דעת.
Reb EliezerParticipantI did not know that to be a member of CR you need to have a kedusha which a golem does not have to be counted as part of a minyan.
Reb EliezerParticipantThere is a Midrash יכול יהי’ יושב בטל ת”ל בכל מעשך אשר תעשה I would think he should sit idly by and rely on Hashem, it says all your work that you “do’. We see that to be blessed we have to do some work.
Reb EliezerParticipantModerator:
Why can’t we always edit our posts? We misspell soumething like thing which should be think above. Sometimes a word is left out.
Reb EliezerParticipantוהי’ עקב תשמעון There will be a rejoycing at the end when we will come to listen, so the Alshich Hakadosh says וידעת היום והשבת אל לבבך you might as well listen today.
Reb EliezerParticipantThey don’t want computer robots answering questions but humans. It says clearly I not a robot.
Reb EliezerParticipantsimcha613 – If we would not commemorate the holocaust at all, you would be right, but on Tisha Beav we sit on the floor and say kinus for it recognizing what Rashi says on הנגלות לנו ולבנינו עד עולם if we don’t do something about what is open, we all become responsible and the majority gets punished.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Rambam Hilchos Taanis 1:3 says that we have a responsibility to recognize why we are fasting and not take it as an occurrence because if do, Hashem will also make things occur. Commemorating the holocaust on Tisha Beav makes us thing to realize why it happened and what we can do to improve ourselves.
Reb EliezerParticipantLook at the Aberbanel for the explanation of Achashverus making the party showing his wealth for 180 days thereby arguing that he is an absolute monarch, the monarchy’s wealth belongs to him and he has full control over his wife.
Reb EliezerParticipantI think white is a sign purity like it says אם יהי’ חטאיכם כשנים כשלג ילבינו if your sin will be seen red, I will make them white.

July 30, 2018 7:14 pm at 7:14 pm in reply to: If you vote Democrat you should just move to Mexico #1567129Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, I don’t know what you are saying. Democrats did not deport criminals or they did not deport criminals with their children but deported them without them?
July 30, 2018 3:33 pm at 3:33 pm in reply to: If you vote Democrat you should just move to Mexico #1566983Reb EliezerParticipantCriminals are returned with the children.
July 30, 2018 12:04 pm at 12:04 pm in reply to: If you vote Democrat you should just move to Mexico #1566956Reb EliezerParticipantDemocrats don’t separate families. They only keep out the criminals.
July 30, 2018 11:11 am at 11:11 am in reply to: The Badeken — The origins and meaning behind the Minhag #1566936Reb EliezerParticipantI don’t understand the Taamei Haminhogim so I will speculate. It says in Rus 3:9 ופרשת כנפך על אמתך and you should cover your maiden with a talis.
This is was a sign of marriage since married women covered their hair. In
Frankfurt, they cover the groom and bride together in a talis. There is a connection for this in the Torah where the making of ztitzis is followed by the pasuk of marriage.Reb EliezerParticipantWe had before President Reagan the SETA program for job training which was eliminated by him. I was educated in computer programming through this means. This was very economical because people gained skills making them more valuable and thereby where able to pay it back in taxes. He only looked at instant gratification. We should bring this kind of program back.
Reb EliezerParticipantMeno – A rich person with his consumption does not create a multiplying effect. He buys a yacht or saves it. A poor person spends the money where his consumption generates more investment requiring hiring workers and thereby the multiplying effect takes hold.
Economy = Consumption + Investment + Government Spending
Reb EliezerParticipantLet us remember the important lesson from this holiday. The girls would go out to greet the boys in borrowed white clothing. Even those who posessed their own, borrowed in order not to ashame those who did not have.
Let us keep in mind that we must go out our way not to embaress another person. It says ואהבת לרעך כמוך, love your fellow human being just like yourself. They also have a heilige neshama just like you being just as good as you are.Reb EliezerParticipantsimcha613 – Our chazal sometimes said towards the non-orthodox הבדלו that we should separate ourselves in order not to be influenced by them. There is not sinas chinom because we show openly our disapproval of their views. Sinas chinom is when we keep our hatred bottled up in our heart and act towards them as friends.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt’s more than a beis avel since we are all aveilim. Some say tiskabel in a beis avel but not on tisha b’ov.
Reb EliezerParticipantRebYidd23 – You seem to know everything, so what is your solution?
Reb EliezerParticipantThe city of Seattle, Washington has a $14.00 minimum wage now. It will increase to $15.00 next January.
Reb EliezerParticipantHungarian Proverb: Whoever has butter on his head should not go under the sun. Whoever is guilty should avoid being caught.
Reb EliezerParticipantMinimum wage does make economic sense. If people have more money, demand increases and they can pay higher prices. This is a chicken and egg question, will they be willing to invest and pay higher wages to generate demand and charge higher prices?
Reb EliezerParticipantWe consider מאביד עצמו לדעת suicide as lack of emunah and is burried separately. I think it means what generally can be tolerated.
Reb EliezerParticipantThere was a question to the Debretziner Rav, Rav Moshe Stern ztzl are you allowed to take the newspaper The Forverts written with hebrew letters in yiddish to the bathroom? He answered the question is are you allowed to remove it?
July 25, 2018 11:18 pm at 11:18 pm in reply to: Can One Ride in a Self-Driving Car on Shabbos #1565207Reb EliezerParticipantDr. E – Can you were on Shabbos an electric massager suit?
Reb EliezerParticipantThe chitzoniyos reflects the penimoyus which reflects the yeshiva.
July 25, 2018 3:47 pm at 3:47 pm in reply to: Can One Ride in a Self-Driving Car on Shabbos #1564527Reb EliezerParticipantI mentioned the Chasam Sofer before that riding in a car violates the mitzva of shabosan as riding in a steam boat.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe halacha is that matzoh that is biblical we consider the Tzlach’s view and eat on the first day of Pesach two kezaisim.
Reb EliezerParticipantThere are two measurements, eggs or fingers.
Finger measurement turned out to be greater than the egg measurement.Tzlach in Pesochim 115 says the eggs diminished in size.
His talmid Rabbi Elozor Flekles says his Rebbe had big fingers.Rabbi Chaim Noeh must accept the talmid’s view.
Reb EliezerParticipantSomeone once complained to Hashem that he never wins the lottery, so He said to him, did you ever buy a lottery ticket?
July 25, 2018 12:40 pm at 12:40 pm in reply to: The failures of lottery winners don’t mean that winning the lottery is bad. #1564335Reb EliezerParticipantSomeone once complained to Hashem that he never wins the lottery, so He said to him, did you ever buy a lottery ticket?
