The Chasan Sofer explains, the yetzer hora is like a salesman trying to sell fake goods like the wife of Potifar tried to convince Josef that she was for his benefit, but when she nudge him day by day, he did not listen to him because if the merchandise is really good for him, she should not need to talk so much. The yetzer tov does not talk much because he is selling good stuff and the merchandise speaks for him. So the yetzer hora must have an advantage, otherwise he will not be listened to.

We find a similar story when Rabbi Elozor Ben Azarya was appointed as the nasi, so they asked maybe you will also be removed? He answered with a question, should a person not use a gold becher because it will break tomorrow? You enjoy it as long as you can.

There is a gemora or midrash where it was asked since people were worshipping the sun so why Hashem does not destroy it? So Hashem said I will not destroy things that is good for them. Similarly the reshaim, as mentioned above, are useful for the tzadikim.

CS, you are saying what it says בשמים ממעל ועל הארץ מתחת this seems to be obvious, the Klei Yokor and others explain that when it comes to heavenly, spiritual things, look at people above you. Whereas, when it comes to earthly, material things look at people below you.

The Rambam’s question above is a form of this question. Doesn’t Hashem’s knowledge eliminate free will? If he can do differently than He doesn’t really know what he will do? If He created reshaim than
He doesn’t really know what they will be?

The question 4,6 is the Rambam’s question in Hilchas Teshuva 5:5, where we must say that Hashem ignores his knowledge or there is no time element infront of him, everything is happening now. Why didn’t Hashem create the world from Noach on? Noach had to learn from what happened before him. Similarly, the tzadikim learn from the reshaim.

The Ramban says that Sara Imenu afflicted Hagar and therefore, when we don’t behave properly, we will be afflicted by Yishmoel, so the Baal Haturim says at the end of Chayeh Sarah, that Moshiah cannot come until he is destroyed.

Relative to reshaim we are tzadikim. They are kept alive because Hashem is erech apayim who is waiting for them to repent.

You have to do some kind of hishtadlus by buying one ticket as mentioned above in the name of the Lubavitcher Rebbe ztz”l, so even though you have no control whether you will win, but you did yours.

Joseph, Aren’t the women the special gender that protect the men from attraction by covering their hair, dressing ztuniesdig and minimize their time being outside rather than have the men avoid looking at them?

I disagree that currently we can keep women locked up as the Rambam himself states that they are not prisoners. They need to take out children to the park for health reasons, and for car pools on secular holidays when buses are not available. If they leave the house, they have a good reason to do so. The men do their own jobs and they will not be affected by the women provided they dress ztuniesdig.

Joseph, the reason the women are limited in their out going so that the men should not get attracted. If the women go outside in a tzuniesdig outfit, according the MB 75:2 mentioned above , the men will get used to them, as the men have their own reasons for being outside, and the women will not create an attraction. Reb Moshe says that even in a shul the mechitza is only for separation and not for protection of looking at the women. So currently when the women have reasons to go out, we allow them to do so because the men become used to it.

I repeat again it is currently a bigger problem if they go out seldomly then frequently as I quoted from the MB 75 that what men are used to doesn’t affect them. At the time of the Rambam they dressed in burka like outfit so it did not make a difference and it was better going out seldomly.

It says in SA O”CH 75 דרכה לכסותה explains the MB s’k 2 כיון שרגיל בהן אינו בא לידי הרהור when he is used to see something will not attract him. Similarly, he is used in seeing women, they are not provocative and will not bring attraction to him.

Joseph, you are being ridiculous לכ”ת. The Mordechai in the name of the
Ravye which is logical is not a boich svara. Women who go out dressed tzinuisdig do not affect man. The man are busy with their work and don’t stare and look at women who are not in any way provocative, For this reason a mechitza in a shul can be see through according to Reb Moshe. As mentioned before, we are more stringent when it comes to a Shul because the yetzer hora is stronger when there is holiness, but outside we follow the logic..

Joseph, the Aruch Hashulchan’s does not necessarily follow from saying Shema when hair is not covered to women who are dresssed tznuesdig. We can pasken not like him in his situation and still allow women to go on the street using the Ravye’s sevora above that we don’t get affected when we see them around because we become used to them.

I will repeat again. The Aruch Hashulchan 75:7 brings the Mordechai in the name of the Ravyeh that we rely on. Women go out to the street , for the reasons mentioned above, seeing them makes us get used to them and we don’t get affected like we find dancing with them was considered עץ בעלמא. For this reason no mechitza is necessary at a family dinner.

What is the big deal that Avraham left his fathers house when he was promised all his needs? The answer is in the pasuk that Avraham went because he was commanded by Hashem and not for any self interest.

Joseph, be realistic. Man are working so women must shop, take children to school when there is no transportation in a car pool, also families cannot support themselves without women working so we have to allow things for darchei shalom and sholam bayis. As mentioned before, we find the view that we become used to seeing women, so they don’t affect us. The Rambam and SA were in a different environment were women did not work so they were able to stay home.. How the children got to school , and shopping was done, I don’t know. The Aruch Hashulchan 75 saw this allowing to daven with their open hair, even though you can close you eyes or look away or they can cover their hair. Do you go out to a married friend for a dinner eating on one table without mechitzas?

Joseph I don’t know if you are married. We sometimes were invited to an another family get together without mechitzas. We currently go out so we are used to see women. When you go to a wedding or a bar mitzva because there is a mitzva involved the yetzer hora is stronger to disrupt it and we need more protection.
