Hashem is Ultimate Good. You have two advisers Truth and Mercy. The two don’t have the same results. If they have the same results, no choice is necessary. He chooses the one which is better for the individual. How that is decided we don’t know.

His behavior is judged either with midas harachamim or midas hadin.
If he is found a tzadik, he is punished for his not good deeds in this world in order he should get full rewards in the next world, whereas a rasha will get his rewards for his good deeds in this world in order to get punished for his bad deeds in the next world. This is good for both because this is what they desire.

Avi K, The Rishonim called Maseches Beitza, Maseches Yom Tov some call it Masches Beiah because of its connotation. The Magen Avraham says not to say beitza but beiah.

Sometimes being merciful is not good because it encourages bad behavior. Only Hashem knows what is good for the person.

I don’t think that these are two things. The goodness brings to the right judgement either by mercy or truth whichever is good for the individual.

yes, the Baal Haikerim says that the goodness of Hashem brings us to love him even though you can only love someone who is like you because you want to emulate someone who does good and you will follow him in his deeds.

RebYidd23 Thank G_d that we have protection for freedom of religion.
Some say freedom of religion but not freedom from religion being an atheist. The Pilgrims and Puritans were religious who escaped from England after their discrimination brought about this part of the First Amendment.

I will illustrate: The Ohr Hachaim Hakodash in Parshas Beshalach on מה תצעק אלי דבר אל בני ישראל ויסעו why scream to, me talk to the jews and tell them to move, asks why does tefila not help? He answers that there is a time when din, judgement rules, so we need to create an action to make mercy rule. When they showed their sacrifice by throwing themselves into the water, they converted din to rachamim.

It does not mean that you can’t respect someone else’s religion if yours is different. It is better if they have a religion respecting others than being an atheist where they have no one to be responsible to.

TheFakeMaven, Hashem is all just. There are two characteristics mercy and judgement. They are represented by malochim, defenders סנגור and קטגור accusers. Hashem according to His knowledge and understanding follows one of them. The best is when both groups agree as no choice needs to be made.

STATEMENT OF AGUDATH ISRAEL OF AMERICA ON MURDER DURING A SHABBOS SERVICE IN A PITTSBURGH SYNAGOGUE

The murder of eleven people during a Shabbos service this morning in a Pittsburgh synagogue is a horrific tragedy and an outrage. Our deepest sympathies go out to the mourning families and friends of the victims who were targeted because they were Jews. We extend our deepest gratitude to the law enforcement personnel who arrived at the scene and captured the murderer. We also thank law enforcement across the country who are ramping up security measures around houses of worship.

`There are simply no words of condemnation that can truly express our anguish and disgust at the perpetrator of this hate-fueled act or others like it. Any platform or group, including those on social media, that serves to stir up and metastasize bigotry and anti-Semitic hatred, needs to be called out and shut down for incitement of violence. Until all Americans confront the horror of anti-Semitism head on, our great Democracy will not have achieved its promise.

May those who were injured in today’s senseless violence have a speedy and complete recovery from their wounds.

TheFakeMaven, Have you ever heard the expression כדי להסביר את האוזן we don’t know what applies to Hashem. We use the expression כביכול but we speak according to our understanding as the hand, eyes and ears of Hashem. This is called צמצום minimizing Him for our understanding. We use love and hate and therefore we can say He enjoys giving. See the Rambam in his explanation.

It says אם למדת תורה הרבה אל תחזיק טובה לעצמך if you learned much Torah don’t praise yourself כי לכך נוצרת for that is why you were created. Says the Binah Leitim, don’t keep the best for yourself because that is why you were created to pass it on. I said כל הלומד תורה שלא לשמה one who learns to Torah for his own benefit, not passing it on, מוטב לו שלא נברא it would have been better if he was not born, because he is not keeping the purpose of creation. כל שרוח הבריות נוחין ממנו if people get a benefit from him because he is passing on Torah, רוח המקום נוחה הימנו Hashem gets joy from him, because he follows the purpose of the creation of the world.

The world was created for our benefit and not Hashem’s. The midrash in Tehilim on the pasuk עולם חסד יבנה the world was created with favor, compares this to a king who has storerooms of all kind of goods. He says, what should I do with this? I will distribute and share this with my servants and the only thing I ask them is that they should show appreciation for it. See the Binah Leitim for more detail. Therefore, our purpose is also to share our wealth and knowledge with others to emulate Him.

When Moshe Rabbenu was in the heavens to get the Torah, as he was accosted by the malochim, Hashem made him look like Avraham, saying to them didn’t you eat by his house? The Dubner Magid has a parable where a prince becomes depressed when hearing that a minister praised himself that he is more important than the prince when the king discusses country matters, as prince is being dismissed. The doctors prescribe a cure having all ministers dress up in an animal costume and dance infront of the prince. When the turn came on this minister to dress up and dance, the prince began to laugh. The minister was told, look who is more beloved by the king? You had to embarass yourself to make the prince happy. When Avraham Avinu was depressed, the malochim had to dress up in human form to make Avraham feel good showing who is more beloved by Hashem.

StuartW, They ask the question, why Hashem tested Avraham with the Akedah even though He knew he can withstand it? The answer is that the experience made Avraham better or others can learn from it.
It says in the Hagaddah, whoever tells Yetzias Mitzraim in great detail, הרי זה משבח they traslate, becomes himself better. האמנתי כי אדבר I streghten by belief when I speak.

Reshaim are a bad influence, so the tzadik can mix with them and become like them or avoid them. It becomes like in Shir Hashirim a rose among the thorns which makes them avoid bending either way and they end up growing straight.

Trying to answer your original question that tzadikim feel jealous and embarassed of other tzadikim that is provided they did not reach the level of Moshe Rabbenu who reached his full potential. Our assignment in this world is to reach our full potential so we are jealous of other tzadikim who reached their potential. The jealousy of other tzadikim is not like getting welfare where someone did not do anything to earn his keep.

The Tiferes Yisroel at the end of Kidushin tells the story where king commisioned his painter to paint a picture of Moshe Rabbenu. He asked his advisers to interpret the picture. They said that the picture indicates that he was a murderer. The king got upset, the painter said they did not interpret it correctly and the advisers said that he did not paint it correctly. So the king decided to see by himself how he looks like. He took his anterage to see him. He was suprised to see that he looked exactly as painted. He asked him, how can you be a leader and look like this? Moshe Rabbenu told him that his job is to fight his nature. The Tzetil Katan from the Noam Elimelech that our job in this world is to fight and over come our nature.
