Milhouse, Your justification does not hold water. Even if it creates monetary harm, abortion is done only when the fetus is a rodef, see the SMA mentioned above. The judgement is min hashomayim because his intentions matter. For goyim, they consider it murder but not us, so they get killed.
Reb EliezerParticipantIf they are illegal, isn’t the whole fam8ly illegal? Keep them together.
November 28, 2019 1:20 am at 1:20 am in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805390Reb EliezerParticipantI am not Jackk, but please explain to me why are socialists evil who help the needy. The rich should pay more because they use the benefits of the country more because they have more to lose. They are not all criminals who are separated from their families. If they are illegal, then the whole family is illegal. I don’t call you names and appreciate if you did the same. The doctors get punished performing abortions without regard of reason and the circumstances are not so extremely rare.
November 28, 2019 12:07 am at 12:07 am in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805363Reb EliezerParticipantYehudayona, I think you are right see the sma CHM 425,2 s’k 8 proving that as long it is fetus in the stomach it is not considered murder because if the womwn is hurt losing her child ch’v, there are monetary damages, so we are obligated to save the mother by whatever means possible.
November 27, 2019 10:25 pm at 10:25 pm in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805331Reb EliezerParticipantMilhouse, I don’t appreciate calling me an evil person. I am not a full socialist equavalent to a communist, but I believe that capitalism has gone to the extremes caring only for making money and not for the well being of the workers. Currently they say, if you don’t like our policies, leave. As an old man I personally experienced this. I worked in bank and was let go before earning a pension.
November 27, 2019 8:32 pm at 8:32 pm in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805320Reb EliezerParticipantI cannot support someone and the party following him, who ostracizes immigrants by separating families, and supports the rich by only givihg them a tax cut believing that he knows everything better than anyone else.
Reb EliezerParticipantCurrently, I giive thanks to Rav Ovadya Yoseph ztz’l for his Yabia Omer and Yechaveh Daas for disseminating all the views when answering a shalah.
November 27, 2019 3:49 pm at 3:49 pm in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805214Reb EliezerParticipantThe Republicans who let the poor suffer end up killing them.
November 27, 2019 3:49 pm at 3:49 pm in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805207Reb EliezerParticipantSome are fanatic and don’t allow abortions in any case even when the mother is in danger when a child is a rodaf as long it is not viable. See the last mishna in the 7th perek in Oholas and the Rambam Hilchas Rotzeiach 1,9.
November 27, 2019 2:29 pm at 2:29 pm in reply to: Any of the 2020 DNC Presidential candidates 100% against abortion (aka murder)? #1805154Reb EliezerParticipantNo one supports abortion. only they are not against. it. It is up to the mother to decide if it is necessary. The rich are always able to get abortions by traveling to a place were it is allowed, but the poor will endanger themselves
by doing it a precarious environment.Reb EliezerParticipantJoaeph, what about the Chida and the Ben Ish Chai?
November 27, 2019 12:06 pm at 12:06 pm in reply to: Should frum yidden remove all plants from the home during the month of december? #1805078Reb EliezerParticipantIf you want a real maris ayin, lighting a menorah oil or candles inside and placing an electric menorah in the window.
Reb EliezerParticipantFFB can credit for keeping themselves religious as raised.
November 26, 2019 8:19 pm at 8:19 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1804878Reb EliezerParticipantbpkj, as I mentioned before they end up being a chassidisher litvak.
November 26, 2019 5:25 pm at 5:25 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1804778Reb EliezerParticipantTo demonstrate the above. the Chasan Sofer passed away at 48 years old. He was the grandfather of Rav Shmuel Ehrenfeld ztz’l who passed away at 89. So when they will be resurrected, they will say on the 48 year old that he is the grandfather of the 89 year old which will make us laugh.
November 26, 2019 3:23 pm at 3:23 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1804751Reb EliezerParticipantI said the above as a joke to interpret אז ימלא שחוק פינו we will start laughing when the younger looking will be identified as the grandfather of the older looking.
Reb EliezerParticipantEntering information on a computer when it is on, might not be a biblical prohibition since the display does not last.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe above question should be, how did Avraham Avinu keep shabbos? בן נח ששבת חייב מיתה. The answer above is not so obvious. For a Jew, motzoei shabbos is the next day, but for a non-jew it is shabbos since the night follows the day.
Reb EliezerParticipantחנוכה – ח נרות והלכה כבית הלל covers all the controversies about Chanukah discussed above. Even though there was oil for one day, we light eight candles by increasing in kedusha as the neis increased as the days went on.
Reb EliezerParticipantThey ask, how was Avraham Avinu keep shabbos? The Hafloah answers that he worked motzoei shabbos.
Reb EliezerParticipantchash, what you are saying is said by the Chasam Sofer, the hebrew word גר hnts starting with gimmel instesd of an aleph and finishes with a resh insted of a taf indicating hard to start and hard to finish.
Reb EliezerParticipantShemaya and Avtalon were converts/ Rav Akiva was decsendent of converts who waa included in the ten martyrs murdered by the romans because of the selling of Joesf in place of Hashem. Nine tribes sold Yowef with the inclusion of Hashem in his judgement.
Reb EliezerParticipantMy two chilldren where converted and adopted as babies and b’H they are Torah observent Jews.
November 23, 2019 8:52 pm at 8:52 pm in reply to: Is it okay to learn (Torah) During Davening? #1803542Reb EliezerParticipantChiyuv on the tzibur is to make sure ten people listen to the leining but I don’t have to worry that people will learn from me as long they are listening now. By tefila, I have an individual chiyuv, so if ten people llisten, I could learn, if not that others will follow my lead. By leining, I don’t have a responsibility to worry about the future.
November 23, 2019 8:51 pm at 8:51 pm in reply to: Is it okay to learn (Torah) During Davening? #1803544Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, See SA O’CH 124,4 and 146,2
November 22, 2019 1:33 pm at 1:33 pm in reply to: Is it okay to learn (Torah) During Davening? #1803426Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, There is a difference between leining and tefila. Tefila is a chiyuv on each individual whereas leining is a chiyuv on the tzibur (except for megilla). Therefore, if ten people listen to leining , you can learn quietly, but not at tefila.
November 22, 2019 10:59 am at 10:59 am in reply to: Is it okay to learn (Torah) During Davening? #1803353Reb EliezerParticipantNo, the problem is that others will follow your lead and also learn and there will not be ten people answering.
November 22, 2019 1:18 am at 1:18 am in reply to: Is it illegal to walk around wearing a counterfeit “I Voted” sticker? #1803267Reb EliezerParticipantA student asks his rebbe for a certification of his accomplishments in the yeshiiva. The rebbe signed it at the bottom of the page. The studeht asked why, he said it says, מדבר שקר תרחק from a lie further yourself/.
Reb EliezerParticipantWhy do you want to convert?
November 21, 2019 9:10 pm at 9:10 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803225Reb EliezerParticipantChasan Sofer became chassidish. The Viener Rav,. Rav Lebovits, ztz’l also my rebbe, pronounded it as ee chassidish. The yeshiva also turned chassidish. You are right . It ia confusing. It proves there should be a difference, so I say it like the german uber. No mistake is made in laining by the chassidim. The litvishe say oo.
I also learned by Rav Simcha Bunim ztz’l but I don’t remember his pronunciatiion.November 21, 2019 9:05 pm at 9:05 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803228Reb EliezerParticipantubi, thinking more, it actually is not so confusing. Either נתנה היא ואמר הוא OR נתן הוא ואמרה היא.
Reb EliezerParticipantWas the Ari Hakadash related to the Mahrshal? I think they wrote each other that they were not related.
Reb EliezerParticipantftresi, there is another pronounciation of a cholam as ay like say by the litvvishe.
November 21, 2019 6:53 pm at 6:53 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803167Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, what you saying is not true. My rebbe the previous Matersdorfer Rav ztz’l had a pronounciation a hungarian u with dots on top. I don’t think it exists in english for male and ee for female. It exists in german as uber, over.
November 21, 2019 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803122Reb EliezerParticipantThe Noda Beyehuda says about saying שם יחוד that we can say צדיקים ילכו בם וחסידים יכשלו בם.
November 21, 2019 6:27 pm at 6:27 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803120Reb EliezerParticipantIt says in Tehilim כי גמר חסיד The Szombathelyi Rav, Rav Katz ztz’l said that the Chasidim believe that they need no improvement, they are complete, once they are a chasid but the opposite needs to be true/ They are more scrutinized being a chasid.
November 21, 2019 4:57 pm at 4:57 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803109Reb EliezerParticipantITFT, I heard a joke where a grandfather dies considerably younger than his grandson, so when they get resurrected as they died, they will say that, he is the grandfather who looks substantially younger, will make us laugh .
November 21, 2019 4:33 pm at 4:33 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1803097Reb EliezerParticipantThe chassidish pronounciation iof ee over oo is a problem because it does not distinguish between male and female. How does a chassidish cow go? mee mee instead of moo moo.
Reb EliezerParticipantThe Rambam questions if Hashem’s knowledge affects our free choice. He answers that it is beyond our understanding that it does not. I think Hashem knows how our mind operates and what our final decision will be without affecting our decision.
November 21, 2019 12:20 pm at 12:20 pm in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1802937Reb EliezerParticipantSomeone came to a litvishe gadol telling him, I don’t have time to learn. He told him to learn mussar and then you will find time.
November 21, 2019 10:37 am at 10:37 am in reply to: Is it better to be Chassidish or Litvish? #1802911Reb EliezerParticipantThe question is what comes first Torah or avodah. The Litvish hold that Torah brings to avodah whereas the chassish hold that avodah betaharah brings to the burn to learn Torah. The best is to be a chassidish litvak which instills the burning for Torah.
Reb EliezerParticipantEmunah without any self interest.
Reb EliezerParticipantIt says להגיד בבקר חסדך ואמונך בלילות to tell your favor in the morning and belief at night. The meforshim explain when its going good, we can see the benevolence of Hashem, but when things are going badly, the only thing we can rely on is the belief in Hashem.
Reb EliezerParticipantSee the Chasam Sofer O’CH 159. Thw minhag was that bachurim shaved.
Reb EliezerParticipantcg1994, The Ibn Ezre says, מה שהיה – אין what was, is gone, מה שהוא – עדיין, what is is and מה שיהיה – מנין what will be is unknown. Live in the present, `חזק ויאמץ לבך וקוה אל ה strenghten your heart and trust Hashem.
Reb EliezerParticipantIn that case the Kalever Rebbe singing in hungarian would be goyish.
Reb EliezerParticipantKeep in mind כל מה דעביד רחמנא לטב עביד everything Hashem does is for the good. Thw Chasam Sofer explains וראית את אחורי ופני לא יראו we only see the benefits from hindsight.
Reb EliezerParticipantWe should always say, גם זו לטובה this also is for the best.
Reb EliezerParticipantJoseph, provided the son is suitable even if not as great as someone else.
Reb EliezerParticipantאיזהו עשיר השמח בחלקו if a person appreciates what he has to gain the most benefit out of it, and does not desire what others have, will find fulfillment and happiness in his life. עשיר stands for עינים. שנים, ידים, רגלים.
