Moshe Rabbenu’s name is not mentioned in Parashas Tetzaveh because he asked to have his name erased. See the Baal Haturim there. Maybe it is a commemoration to his greatness at the parasha of his yahr zeit. The two greatest qualities of his are humility and compassion. They are both reflected. One, he felt not worthy that his name be mentioned. Two, he said that when he asked for forgiveness thereby showing his compassion to the Jews.
Actually I heard, that the first letters at the end of the parsha starting from yechaper add up to his name.

Look at the Ksav Sofer on Leah above. Didn’t the others before praise Hashem and giving the impression that until this time she did not praise Him? So he learns pshat as he explained that one who says halel hagadol daily, he commits blasphemy. He only recognizes the great miracles and not what happens every day. Leah said this as a wonder. Should I only praise Hashem Yisborach now, when He constantly creates miracles for me?

In SA O’CH 98,1 the RMA says that when one davens shemonei esre, he should have in mind the greatness of Hashem and lowliness of himself. These two are directly related. The more one sees one, the more he sees the other. His eyes should point downwards and his heart upwards.

Very nice. We find Rebbi who was very wealthy said that the best midah is beautiful for the doer and for others which would be humility. Rav Yosef did not feel any haughtiness when he said that I am around after Rebbi passed on. The gemora says in Chulin (89,1) that what it said by Moshe and Aharon is greater than what it says by Avraham. I heard two explanations, one, Avraham Avinu said that he is dust and ashes towards Hashem whereas Moshe Rabbenu said what are we to people. Two, dust an ashes is something whereas Moshe Rabbenu considered themselves as nothing.

There is a direct connectiion between the nazis ym’s and mitzraim. They both appointed kapos and had them work to weaken them only that Pharaoh did not directly kill them when they were unable to work.

Look also at the Klei Yokor at the end of Parashas Vayigash that this also contributed to the servitude in Mitzraim. We must remember when living in Ch’l, that we are strangers in a strange land. This is why Moshe Rabbenu called his son Gershon. Also, the Klei Yokor points out in the begining of Parashas Vayechi, for this reason, Yaakov could not reveal the coming of Meshiach.

It says עשו שונא ליעקב Aisov hates Yaakov for taking his brachas, so I agree, don’t put gasoline on fire by encouraging it as Yaakov said, I gained oxen and which were not part of the brachas, I heared another pshat.
Yaakov Avinu kept 613 mitzvos even though many don’t apply to him. He did these through his great desire to be mekayem them using his machshova. so when Yitzchok Avinu blessed him, he had Aisov in mind.

Look at the Meshech Hachma in Parashas Bechukosai on vaf gam zos and the Chasam Sofer explaining that some anti-semitism is good us. It protects us from assimilation. We say in Haggadah not one alone stood against us to destroy us ch’v but HKB’H saved us from tbere hands. Through their anti-semitism we were saved from assimilation.

    שבת צג,ב

Rashi on Rabbi Shimon Potar says that removing a dead person is considered a מלאכה שאינה צריכה לגופה, work don’t done for its own sake, because he is using the melachah away from himself and he rather would not require it in the first place. Tosfas on the next middle of the page with the starting asks many questions on Rashi. Why opening up a wound to make it breathe is chayev, he would rather not have the wound. The Meginas Shlomo answers that there he wants the opening to stay even after it is healed in order that it should not return wheras the dead, once it left, he wants it not to return. So, Tosfas there says he is patur because he is not doing it in the same fashion done in the mishkan. We find later on (103,1) where the gemorah says that when one plows in someone else’s field is not a פסיק רישא as he does not care about it. Tosfas says that it is a again work not done for its own sake. Similar thing we find in Sukkah (33,2) the gemora says that he has another hashana and trherefore he is not fixing when removing the fruits. The Sefer Kapas Temorim there has a long discussion about the difference between a pesik reisha and work done not for its own sake. He asks that according to tosfas above the example we give for a pesik reishe, kill a chicken to play with the head so you don’t want to kill it to die but play with it. Isn’t this the same as you dig a hole for the ground sake and not for its own sake? He says that it only demonstrates the fact that it got killed without his intention to die but it would really be patur. The problem is that that the hole also happens automatically? In the mishkan they would make a hole for its own use and not for the ground. The Rambam holds that it is chayev would learn like Rashi in work done not for its own sake.

There are certain letters that get exchanged in aramaic. ‘ז’, with ‘ד’, for example, זהב with דהב.
Also זכר with דכר. A ‘ש’ with a ‘ת’ like ישברו with יתברו.

As I mentioned from the Rabbenu Bachya, that people should pursue learning on their own and not rely on crutches. Whoever had a proper yeshiva education, should be able to follow the above. If words need translation (not idioms, frequent expressions of the gemora), then use them.

In order to learn on your own, you must know the idioms of the gemora to be able to recognize them and set the words correctly. There is a program available with multiple choice teaching them called Gemora Tutor at jewishsoftware dot com. There is another program that teaches the logic of the gemora called Talmud Master.
It is also to important to say שנים מקרא ואחד תרגום repeat the Torah twice and once its targum, every shabbos, which teaches aramaic, gemora language.

Look at the Rabbenu Bachya at the end of Parashas Ki Siso how originally when they started to write down the oral law, they only were allowed to write down the essentials and the rest was self understood. As the generations became weaker, more and more commentaries became necessary. This is how the gemora came about. This is the meaning of a gemora’s expression indicating that something is missing. This was done on purpose , at that time, as it was understood without it.

The Midrash Shmuel says in the name of the Ritvo that it refers to above, to the shalom of the behavior of Hashem. I think it means that the kitrugim should get convinced and agree with the defenders. That can be the meaning עושה שלום במרומיו He, Hashem, the same way makes peace in the heavens, הוא יעשה שלום עלינו should make peace on us, caring for and loving each other and then ואמרו אמן the Malochim will say Amen.

The idea was to give a general knowledge. To understand how to learn, learn Chadoshim gam Yeshonim from Rav Yanoson Steif ztz’l. We should see what mussar we can learn from an agadteh, story presented by the gemora. It is not mentioned in vain.

The Chasam Sofer explains why the talmidei chachimim increase peace in the world. There is a fixed amount of conflicts preordaned on this world. The more milchamta shel Torah (confict) exist the less battles and wars among nations occur.

The kohanim are a conduit to the blessings from Hashem even if we are not worthy. It says in Taamei Haminhagim that we mention bad dreams at Birchas Kohanim as the kohanim when they duchen are completely kadosh and a dream is 1/60 of kedusha so we are mevatel a bad dream in sixty.

The Binah Leitim Darush 41, ties all the parashiyos of Nasso together. There are seven causes that bring to gaaveh, the yichus, beauty, wealth, the family, wisdom, strength and honor for leadership. Even though Gershon was the bechor, Kehos was elevated because we go by merit and not by lineage. A zov teaches us the importance of inner beauty. Beauty can be taken and its fleeting but inner beauty remains. Wealth is provided by Hashem and only what he gives to charity is realy his. We find by Neilah on Yom Kippur one sin specified, stealing. If he does not use what is given to him to serve Hashem, he is stealing from Him and moal, commits treachery. When he thinks how great he is because his family stands behind him, teaches the Torah to be careful as the wife can become a soteh and go astray. The nazir’s hair which covers the brain which provides wisdom is being removed. This teaches similarly that wisdom comes from Hashem and therefore, he should not praise himself by it. Drinking gives a person a feeling of strength which again is provided by Hashem and reminded to the nazir. Also, he is reminded not be metameh himself to a dead person indicating that his leadership and greatness is only temporary and not to praise himself with it. The Birchas Kohanim summarizes everything indicating that all these bkessings come from Hashem and the most important is to have peace of mind.

I think it has to be edible when he makes it. The Aruch Hashulchan (527,13) says that even if it was edible when he made it on Wednesday but got destroyed on Friday would not be good. I think if he can revive it when he cooks, it would be OK provided it was edible when he made it.

This reminds me of a mashel attributed to the Rambam. A minister was praised to the king that he can perform a special accomplishment by teaching a cat to eat from a plate with a knife and fork. Another minister put a mouse in his pocket for the test. At the test, he realeases the mouse and the cat forgets all its teachings and runs after mouse. It goes after its natural instincts when the opportunity arrives. Similarly these people when they have the opportunity, forget their civility and go after their instincs.
