Even Yisrael by Rav Yisroel Yakov Fisher asks your question as well, and says that the budding staff is to show that shevet Levi is in fact entitles to “more” than the other shevatim, as they get 1/10 (10%) whereas the other shevatim only got 1/12 portion in the land. He goes on to explain why this is, but the budding staff proves that its from Hashem.
Beautiful sefer, and not so hard to understand. Not too long, and not too many things on each parsha. But what he says is often a home run

Without knowing your financial situation, I can tell you that there are gemachs that you can create a fund for $1000 and up. You can dictate who to lend the money to – meaning for a simcha, to help get someone back on their feet, etc.
This is a way that the zechus is continuously being generated, and chesed is always being done.
You can contact me offline and I can tell you gemachim that I know
Also, you can buy sefarim that will be used by many people. Or about a specific topic that was special in the heart of the niftar.
kollelguyinEYMemberI agree! And who said that these big tzedakah organizations are run the most efficiently? Who said they *really* know whats going on across the spectrum of the poor and needy?
Thats why my tzedakah money goes to local tzedakahs (here in EY) and to mosdos hatorah that I know personally, and that I am personally involved in them. I find that these tzedakah organizations have their finger on the pulse of their community and know who needs, how much, and in what priority.
If the mods agree, I can be contacted regarding organizations that I am involved with personally. We can even work out a personalized dontation program for you, where you know exactly what need your money is coming to help support.
The mods do NOT agree

And even Rav Elyashiv, if you just want to see him, you can, just you cant get close to him so often.
But the rest, Rav Chaim, Rav Shteinman, Rav Michel Yehuda, Rav Vosner, Rav Scheinberg, Rav Nissim Karelitz, Rav Shmual Auerbach – you can get time with. if you need more info, let me know
kollelguyinEYMemberI live in Israel and I know of many causes that seem to be up your alleys — all of you — in which I am personally involved in.
1) kollel in which a group of learning avreichim learn with working men.
2) tomchei shabbos in which the organization gives chickens to the families for shabbos and yom tov
3) kuppa shel tzeddakah in which poor families – including single parent homes – receive money for food and basic living expenses
If you are interested in donating to any of these causes – I can help you make a donation, or send you more information about the organizations mentioned above. All donations are tex deductible in the US
