“Please be Dan Likaf Zechus, it was probably not the first time a girl dumped him if he smelled so bad, and that also explains why he was still dating when a rav”
I think hes talking about a seperate Rav.
klachMemberreal gematrias – such as the ones brought down by the Gra and Baal HaTurim for example, are definitely true. In fact, the gra’s gematrias aren’t limited to simply additive ones; he also uses advanced math like calculus. (He has a gematria for Pi from the words of the pasuk describing the dimensions of the Kiyor in Nach – it’s beyond cool). Furthermore, gematrias play an integral role in kabbalistic systems and concepts. There is a science, rules and axioms – ptretty much lost to us today – governing how gematrias work. However, nowadays, we are clueless thus the ones we invent are nothing more than cute shtick.
As a side note, Rav Henoch Leibowitz ZT”L said that one can say drush as long as the idea or concept being said is true.
klachMember“I know of a chashuv Rav who got dropped by a girl whom he felt was very promising, so he went to the pizza store, bought a whole, UNCUT pie and ate it straight”
Apparently he wasn’t so chashuv back then.
“So what about drinking away a bad date or dumping?”
Thre is a huge difference between eating a whole uncut pizza and drinking. etc.
“Personally, i think that it’s a wonderful idea”
Good to know that you’ve mastered shas uposkim that your personal opinon matters.
“you just need to recover and let loose a little”
recover, yes. Let loose – show me where there is an inyan to take a vacation from being religious. This is so crum.
“so it’s mutar”
i am simply amazed beyond words at your stunning halachic prowess.
“bishas hadchak”
how exactly is this a shas hadchak?

There are many things people do that are much worse in regards to chumras.
klachMemberwe are unable to comprehend any of the chazals that deal with mashiach as more than concepts – ie we hava no conception of what these things will look like when they are manifest.
klachMemberIt is glatt mutar to lend to a guy with tons and tons and tons of interest!!!!
klachMemberI heard that Rabbi Welcher is very strict in this area.
klachMember“My theory on business is that if it’s so smart and so easy, then why didn’t someone else do it first. Unless you can answer that don’t bother.”
Because human nature is a powerful force. Many people are simply too lazy to actually pursue even what appears to be a simple easy endeavor, preferring to instead rationalize why it’s so hard, it won’t work, “if it’s so smart and so easy, then why didn’t someone else do it first”, let the next guy do it, etc.
klachMember“klach: Even granting that we pasken that way for all pesukim, could you please ask your rebbi why he extends that halacha to a Rashi? The answer would interest me greatly.”
The problematic aspect of the song was the part that came from a passuk. Were the song merely Rashi, there wouldn’t be a problem at all. There are two problems with a passuk – song: 1 – Assur to use passuk of Torah or Shir Hashirim (and, acc to some, all of Tanach); 2 – There is a concept that we don’t like to say half a passuk of Torah, since Moshe Rabbeinu ended the passuk where it was supposed to end, and we therefore don’t deviate in our recitation of pessukim from that, pretty much regardless of context. So a song that either simply doesn’t go to the end od a passuk, or one where the words don’t fit exactly and some are repeated, is problematic.
klachMemberIs anybody fascinated by the legal details and procedures of the lockouts? I am. It’s such a life lesson how much meaningless intillectual stuff is out there, like our seriously messed up legal system.
klachMemberMoney spent on yeshiva tuition does not come out of your parnassa money alloted to you each year by HASHEM. (Mishna Berurah Hilchos Shabbos)

There is a book called Making of a Gadol.
klachMember“Once Moshiach arrives, I’ll have no need for the tools.”
Even after Mashiach arrives, we will still be doing mitzvos. Mashiach is not gan eden or olam haba (two very different things in their own right.)
klachMemberIdeally the right strap should go to the makom ervah and the left should be a little shorter (ie not quite reaching there).
klachMemberThe basic steps of Mashiach and beyond:
1 – Mashiach comes before the year 6000, with enough time to have a bunch of festivals as is clearly stated by many commentaries dealing with how certain festivals will or won’t be celebrated in the times of Mashiach.
2 – The yearr 6000, the physical universe goes kaboom, and all humanity “dies” so to speak.
3 – The next 1000 years HASHEM creates a new world that will be Olam Haba.
4 – Year 7000 – Olam Haba starts.
5 – Year 8000 – New things are introduced (see weird seforim for more details. Disclaimer: you won’t understand a word of it.)
klachMemberSome people surely are unaware of their emabrassment after posting in the CR. Vehamaivin Yavin.
klachMemberWomen are a different species alright. . .
klachMemberIt is truly inspiring how a question clearly belonging solely in the domain of competent Daas Torah is bandied about the masses like a sports debate. Tizku lemitzvos!!
klachMember“About a month ago, they dropped off white envelopes by everyone’s house so I went out collecting them from everyone and threw them out.”
That’s a huge mitzvah, possibly even hatzolas nefoshos. Tizku Lemitzvos.
klachMembermany people in shul wear their teffillin unfortunately in ways and places that are not yotzei the mitzvah at all and yet generally nothing is said.
August 1, 2011 12:16 pm at 12:16 pm in reply to: Do you size people up when meeting them? How often are you proven wrong? #990622klachMemberSome people are simply brilliant at this. Rav Henoch Leibowitz ZT”L said he knew every issue a person had just from the way he said good shabbos to him after shacharis on shabbos and his eyes.
klachMember“oh my , i thought it was machshefa”

No it’s not – recently, there was a sign out up on the yeshivas bulletin board about this and how it is a big issue more so than people would think.
klachMemberBTW, how come the original moser thread was closed if you let me start a new one about the exact point that it left off?
klachMemberI was under the impression that not all the numbers were used.
klachMember“What is the alternative?”
um. . .
klachMember“Klach: Tell me: Do these rabbis ever refer people to real therapists? They do? Why? Oh.”
Rarely.
“Happiest: You don’t need these rabbis.”
These Rabbis are far more competent than any shrink.
Popa – maybe you would benefit greatly from speaking to one of these rabbis. . .
klachMemberdies being the operative word
klachMemberand are any mods married? If you get married, 80, for example, will you still mod?
klachMemberIn Tanach, the women usually win all the arguments. . .
klachMemberThis is such a useless discussion. . .
klachMember“so what’s with ur first question?”
Teiku
klachMember“But its all worth it.”
Not always.

klachMemberi’m a happy dude. I just enjoy the CR tons!!
klachMemberthe one that got deleted – “daas Torah is a big plus or something to that extent”
I checked the deleted posts. It never went through at all; it wasn’t deleted. -95
klachMember“opposites attrect”
so I’m assuming she was the smart one.
klachMembermachshava is a hard subject to master in even a minor way.
klachMemberim assuming you’re a man
klachMemberare you single
klachMemberHey what was wrong with my last post?
klachMembernot really – they have an achrayus to the yeshiva who is paying them a salary in part to render said services. However, Rav Henoch Leibowitz did have appointments with women sometimes.
klachMemberIf a false prorhet should arise and command you not to follow the mitzvos. . .KILL HIM STONE HIM!!
klachMemberMy sister claims to lear it – I looked over her notes – they do a superficial overview of a few topics, nothing more.
June 26, 2011 11:55 pm at 11:55 pm in reply to: Is the CR Responsible for Bitul Torah of the Posters #781066klachMemberIf a mother is neglecting her kids in any way bec of the CR, then maybe someone ought to call child services or whatever they’re called!!
klachMemberThere are many Rabbeim who are far more qualified than any therapist to treat emotional and psychological issues. In CC, for example, there are quite a few Rabbeim who specialize in dealing with peoples issues and have years and years of sucessful experience to back it up. (and almost everybody speaks to them!!)
