You get paid for pesach even if you don’t go in on Chol Hamoed? Wow.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantrabbi_dr- my hygienist and dentist always tell me I’m doing a great job taking care of my teeth… I do brush, floss and mouthwash twice a day for two weeks preceding my appointment. The rest of the year… only when I’m in the mood. I do love milk and baby carrots though, so I usually don’t have any cavities or plaque. Munching on some baby carrots right now…
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantIs it generally swallowed?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantHope it’s an electric. Acoustics aren’t meant for extreme temperatures.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantpack your teddy bear in case you get lonely
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantAs I said, my great-grandfather saw the golden spoons there.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipant4. Is it used as a decoration?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantJasonX- take into account that you’re not getting an accurate representation of us here. I’m very different in real life, as I know who I’m talking to. Everyone is suspicious here that other sn are fake. For all you know, I’m fake and am really an old chinese grandfather. Hey- I shouldn’t have told you that.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantThe Frumguy
1) Not if you say right when you pick up “hi, you’re on speaker phone. I lost my handset/ am in middle of washing dishes/ accidentally smashed my ear with a hammer. Would you like me to call you back later?
2) Don’t you know who you’re calling?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantIs it edible?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantMy great-grandfather pretended to be a foreign minister and got into the Vatican. This was right after the second world war. He saw golden spoons that were labeled as being from the Bais Hamikdash. They would never let on that they have them to the outside world though…
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantWIY- I guess that’s why my questions were different. They weren’t questions about what other people do, or should be doing.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI was a teen with a lot of questions and was not labeled teen at risk. Some teachers ignored my questions altogether, some just repeated what they had said previously as if that were an answer. I did have a few teachers that were really great. They either answered my question or told me that they don’t know the answer and they’ll try to look it up for me for the next day… I did make sure to put on my most innocent face when asking a question though. If a teacher suspects that the question is being asked just to disturb the lesson even if she’s a good teacher she’ll be angry.
March 15, 2013 3:31 pm at 3:31 pm in reply to: Nurse Refused To Initiate CPR, What Is Your Opinion? #938837π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantShe was trained in CPR. Just because she worked in a facility where most people aren’t trained doesn’t mean her waiting means doing nothing.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantDoes Eragon have jokes like HP or is it more adventure? I love the sense of humor in the HP books…
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI like songs that make you soar inside. Like the ones I listed on the previous page and plenty more.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantMaybe before starting on makeup start on skin care products to clear up that acne. It will be more kavod for pesach. If you live in Brooklyn you should be able to buy kosher for pesach lipstick. You can buy makeup with built in sunscreen.
March 15, 2013 2:45 pm at 2:45 pm in reply to: Nurse Refused To Initiate CPR, What Is Your Opinion? #938835π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantAs I wrote, CBS said company policy was to wait with the resident until EMS arrives. She interpreted waiting as sitting at the patients side. In my lifeguarding course we’re also told to wait until EMS arrives. We’re also told that while we’re waiting we should administer first aid/oxygen/cpr/aed as needed.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantaproudbyg- when you talk to your mother in a calm setting does she explode? If not, perhaps explain to her gently that you can’t continue living like this. If she doesn’t go to parenting classes and therapy for her anger management issues you will go to Ohel to find you a foster home. Say it really nicely though, and full of compliments for her good times. It’s very possible that she has a psychiatric disorder such as bipolar that can be causing this.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantThey’re setting themselves up for looking 50 at age 30… skin needs to breathe to stay healthy.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantBy the way, paying for an additional bag is cheaper than paying for stuff there with the amount they charge for stuff.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantWhen I was in Israel I brought home whatever I was able to Pesach time as well as a suitcase for a friend that was staying in Israel. I also asked a relative to take home a suitcase for me at the end of the year. Plus I was allowed two pieces of luggage…
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantVogue- you’re saying that you’re not girly for not wearing makeup when you’re in sem? Who wears makeup in sem?
March 14, 2013 9:28 pm at 9:28 pm in reply to: Nurse Refused To Initiate CPR, What Is Your Opinion? #938817π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantIn the CBS article it states that there was no DNR, but it was the policy of the retirement home that in case of emergency staff should call 911 and wait with the resident until EMS arrives.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI’m dreading pesach cake crumbs on the floor… you can’t get them off.

π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantAm I the only one here who picked my own and got it without question?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantThere are two options for that sentence:
1) The Chazon Ish was a fierce anti-zionist
2) The Chazon Ish was the fiercest anti-zionist
take our pick.
March 14, 2013 3:58 pm at 3:58 pm in reply to: Nurse Refused To Initiate CPR, What Is Your Opinion? #938803π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI think the original article said that this was not an assisted living facility but a retirement home of sorts. This was next door to the assisted living facility owned by the same company and the policy was only not to do cpr in the retirement home.
March 14, 2013 3:18 pm at 3:18 pm in reply to: Interesting Thing That Happened To Me; Is Geography Really That Difficult? #936630π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI learned the states and capitals in fourth grade and the countries and capitals in fourth. I’m probably one of the only ones in my grade who remember it though…

π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantWeddings were always major events, but I don’t think people went bankrupt for the night of the wedding itself in previous generations. It’s very possible that I’m wrong, because I haven’t really looked into it. You know how much sisters of the kallah spend on their gowns these days? The price of one gown, counting inflation probably would have paid for half of a wedding two hundred years ago.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI know. My school thought I’m going according to which teachers I like when I got great scores in science and history and not so great at math. They forced me to get evaluated, and the results showed clearly that I think in a different way than most people which makes it hard for me to learn math. It did prove to the school though that I was smart enough for them and wasn’t deliberately slacking.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI have a history/science brain.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantThere were actually stories of crumbs falling out of shtreimels during the pesach seder…although a rental is going too extreme. Brushing it out is plenty enough.
March 13, 2013 2:32 pm at 2:32 pm in reply to: Kosher L'Pesach Cigarettes: Is Something Wrong With This? #938041π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantyichusdik: I do agree with you. I also understand why they did it. In Israel many people smoke and will smoke regardless of whether or not they have kosher l’pesach cigarettes. Why make them be oiver on two aveiros when you can limit it to one?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantSam2- I’m not talking about in the wild. I’m talking about in a plant. In the woods you won’t find them directly on the ground- either on the roots of trees or on leaves. Therefore, they are not living off the ground, but they do feed on the grains in the factory.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantI got a lot of my hashkafa education from simpletoremember.com. I don’t think I would have asked my questions in school- they would have simply gone unanswered. I think these shiurim are fantastic, and are one of the reasons the internet should exist for. It really strengthened my yiddishkeit.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantProblem is I have a different analogy… would you even try eating it if there was a chance that there is some dishsoap mixed in? Anyone who ever tasted dishsoap by mistake would say no.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantNopes. Mushrooms feed on chametz in the plants.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantFried eggs must be great for the heart. Don’t two negatives make one postitive?
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantNursing might not be a great idea- there are a lot of frum nurses looking for jobs. Nutritionists are in demand, so if you do psychology and nutrition together you could make a decent parnassah.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantcoated with, to keep it from sticking to itself. The kosher l’pesach tablecloths are much harder to open without tearing it.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantThen did your post answer or just suggest another option? Personally, I think OT is a great career option as there is so much you can do with it. My mother keeps telling me that I should go for it… I’m still considering my options.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantplastic tablecloths often contain starches that are genuine chametz. Perhaps the same is true for other plastics.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantyentapesha- a job has to be suitable to the personality. I personally would find accounting pretty boring… My mother is a computer programmer, and I find that boring too. I need a job with more action.
March 11, 2013 4:30 pm at 4:30 pm in reply to: 50 Y.O. Women Grocery Shopping In 3" Heeled Pumps On A Slushy Thursday Night? #938903π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantapushatayid- the same applies to all preparations for Shabbos, including when baking challah and bleaching the bathroom. I know some people have a hard time balancing on a wet tiled floor in heels, but that’s just one of the things you have to get used to to be a proper yidishe mamme… π
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantnotasheep- they sometimes coat the plastics with oils and such. if you rinse it out soap and water before using it shouldn’t be a problem, but the kashrus issue isn’t that the workers will eat over the machines.
π΅ β¨ GamanitParticipantUnless he’s referring to his pearly whites… I always think some peoples smiles look more like they’re baring their teeth and waiting to attack you than warm and friendly.
