Yes although not a positive one. I ended up having wayyy to much iron in my bloodstream which isn’t great to put it mildly. I of course no longer take multivitamins on a regular basis; only one here or there.

It’s not lashon hara to talk to someone in private (not on public forum) about their experience with vendor a (in this case Neurolinks). If the person lies about their experience to get you to use them as well they are being over on “lifnei iver lo siten michshol”.

I actually agree with the shaver idea. If you get him an expensive kosher shaver he probably won’t replace it with a non-kosher shaver. He’ll probably also be excited at the prospect of needing it.

WinnieThePooh; Caesarea is large enough at 15,000 capacity.

in reply to: Stop Eurovision song contest next year in Yerushalayim #1520267

I think it should be held in Caesarea. This way it doesn’t seem like a European boycott of Israel but is at the same time not in Yerushalayim Ir Hakodesh. International politics is complicated business.

in reply to: Pesach program solutions #1515507

mentch1- not everyone has the same trajectory of poverty to wealth. My great-grandparents had live in help. I don’t. The cleaning help I do have throughout the year (very part time) isn’t available for me in the pre-pesach season since she goes to people who offer her more money then. Making pesach is far from easy. It’s a mitzva so I try to do it with as much simcha as possible but please don’t make my efforts sound like a joke. If not for commercially available products I would probably collapse from exhaustion. You’re also forgetting one very major difference between women of today’s generation and in the past; my great-grandparents prior to WWII didn’t work out of the house. Most jewish women today work at least 30 hours out of the house a week.

You say three boys stole it. I assume only one was driving. While he had peer pressure from his two friends ultimately he is the one who crashed it. He’s the only one you should be going after.

in reply to: Sleep away camp and bedwetting #1508591

    1) Is he limiting his fluid intake in the evenings?

    2) Which inserts were you using?

    3) Is sewing up your own overnight trainers an option? You’d be able to make them as absorbent as needed.

    4) Can he set himself a vibrating alarm clock to wake him up twice a night?

Of course you’ll need to do test runs of whatever it is you’re doing at home first but you may just find a good solution.

in reply to: Sleep away camp and bedwetting #1508576

Get him Goodnites Tru-fits and have him stuff with inserts meant for cloth diapers. Also give him a large zippered PUL wetbag for the used ones. If he’s careful no one would ever guess.

in reply to: Wife Driving or Husband Driving? #1505783

RebYidd23- probably. What the physician basically has to state is that the person is unhappy with their gender. If they are unhappy and change and then are unhappy again I don’t see a legal reason they should be unable to change again.

in reply to: Wife Driving or Husband Driving? #1505763

Joseph- in the state of NY all you need to legally change gender is a notarized letter from a physician. If someone is upset enough about their insurance rates they can get that.

in reply to: Wife Driving or Husband Driving? #1505734

Seems like insurance is currently allowed to discriminate for anything someone has a choice about. If someone is being charged more for not being married; get married. If you’re being charged more for being a teenager; stop driving until you’re older…. You can’t legally change your race (esp. since there’s technically no legal recording of race in the first place.

in reply to: What Happened With Ezras Nashim In Boro Park On Monday Night? #1505286

I think it varies a lot by location. An EMT in the country might respond to one or two calls a month whereas an EMT in the city might respond to ten calls per day.

in reply to: What Happened With Ezras Nashim In Boro Park On Monday Night? #1505215

    275723 medical emergencies called in
    4414 emergency medical professionals
That works out to an average of
    275723Γ·4414=62.***
So at a 40week work year it’s about 1.5 calls a week per person.

Your math is totally wrong. You’re calculating based on the false premise that each emergency is dealt with beginning to end by one professional. Since there are multiple individuals involved in each call you need to take that into account. Say the average call involves 4 people (trained dispatcher, 2 EMTs and 1 doctor) that would add up to far more cases per person. I’m also pretty sure average case involves more than 4 people- probably closer to 7 or 8 people.

(not taking health’s side here at all- just pointing out the math)

As long as the cotton wasn’t grown adjacent to a wheat field, you’re ok.

So you need a hechsher on the farm where the cotton grew then. How do you find out?

in reply to: Have We Made Peseach Too Easy? #1487045

When I was in elementary school we had to write up a family history report. Part of the report was supposed to be interviews with grandparents/great-grandparents. Our teacher was telling us that we’d be surprised at how hard they worked at our age.

I asked my great-grandmother how their pesach cleaning went. She said a few days before pesach her father would hire a crew of five people to clean their house for them. She didn’t have to do any of the work.

Based on how worn out I am from my cleaning right now I’d say we are certainly not making pesach too easy. Yes, there are a lot of products on the market today but most women these days work out of the house and have less outside help since help became far more expensive. Before Pesach most cleaning ladies will charge extra since they know they’ll have people desperate enough to take them whatever they charge.

in reply to: How Was Vashti Killed? #1479203

Wow are we hearing from a bunch of geniuses here
    The Χ’ΧžΧ¨Χ, ΧžΧ’Χ™ΧœΧ” יא Χ’ΧžΧ•Χ“ Χ‘
    Three lines from the bottom
    בא שטן Χ•Χ¨Χ™Χ§Χ“ Χ‘Χ™Χ Χ™Χ”ΧŸ Χ”Χ•Χ¨Χ’ אΧͺ Χ•Χ©ΧͺΧ™
Satan came and danced amongst (between) them and killed Vashti
    Is that clear enough?
Or are you ready to take on the Χ’ΧžΧ¨Χ as well?

I don’t see this as a contradiction. It was not unusual for women banished to the palace of tears to commit suicide.

in reply to: How Was Vashti Killed? #1477680

If a woman was sent to the palace of tears it was permanent. The only way out to get out alive was if she was given away as a gift.

Ubiquitin- how did licking adhesive stamps work out? Does it dry your tongue out more or less than old fashioned stamps

in reply to: Eat4Oorah Is A Chillul Hashem #1473996

I’m seriously overweight and I found it really funny. I don’t care for weight loss contests so I really don’t mind someone making fun of lose4autism. Those fake contests were really creative. It’s hard to think of something more gross than licking adhesive stamps. I loved all the realistic marketing materials, and how they said that they have to keep thinking of new ways of getting money from gvirim. I only heard two fat jokes and one of them was just making fun of Chris Christie. Poor singer/rapper. His mouth must have felt totally gross from the adhesive.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1473695

Gaon, if someone doesn’t drive the strong likelihood is that they’ll be outside less often than if they’re a licensed driver with a car.

That’s simply untrue. Most women go out of the house three/four times a day (to wait for busses, go shopping, and/or go to work). Do you really think they would be outside more when they can accomplish their shopping far faster with a car?

kol zman shehaner dolek efshar l’taken- the people who were killed no longer have the opportunity to do teshuvah.

in reply to: @Chabad Shluchah Please Explain Why Davening To/Betten a Rebbe is Okay #1471928

Chabadshluchah- would you agree that it’s certainly far better to be connected to a living breathing rebbe? If so, why not seek one out? There are many tzaddikim in today’s generation; I gave the example of Skullener Rebbe earlier.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1470689

Joseph- I’m trying to understand what you think the issue with a woman driving is. Is it that supposedly sitting in the driver’s seat is more visible than the front passenger seat or is it somehow “not tznius” for a woman to be in control of a vehicle?

Did anyone actually go to Oorah’s “Eat4Oorah”‘s website? Please visit and try to either sign up or sponsor someone who already signed up. It’s a big mitvah.

For those who don’t want to visit the site; it’s a joke. It’s a play on Lose4Autism. They don’t actually have any such campaign at the moment.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1470153

Joseph- would you be okay with a woman driving a car where the driver sits on the right side with her husband sitting on what’s usually the driver’s side of the car?

in reply to: @Chabad Shluchah Please Explain Why Davening To/Betten a Rebbe is Okay #1470095

Btw rso I find you quite ironic. First you ask me if I know of anyone else who is a tzadik gamur of Tanya, I respond no and I’d love to know of another, as there is no reason to be unique in that regard. You respond that feivel thinks his Rebbe is one, and then refuse to give his name. Do you get the irony here?

    Skulener Rebbe probably qualifies.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1469566

Joseph- when was the last time you were on 13th ave during the work day? It is probably about 50% women driving; probably because their husbands are at work. Women driving in Boro Park is becoming more and more common. I know you probably think it’s because of yeridos hadoros but from the women I’ve spoken to it’s more that they are not all that comfortable with the idea of being driven around by strange men.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1469440

Joseph- I think you’re deliberately misunderstanding me here. I said a yid from chutz l’aretz visiting Eretz Yisroel; not vice versa. Also while there is no specific minhag against wearing a shawl she is only wearing it due to the minhag hamakom of where she is from. If you’re supposed to follow the minhagim of the place where you are at the moment wearing a shawl in the summer is simply silly.

in reply to: Minhag Hamakom #1469418

Joseph- I’m sorry but you are incorrect here as well. It’s far from a rule across the board that you follow the minhag hamokom of a city you are visiting. A yid who is visiting eretz yisroel for yom tov still keeps two days of yom tov due to the minhag hamakom of where he lives. A woman from Meah Shearim visiting Brooklyn continues to wear her shawl even though it is not the minhag there. There are situations (such as in shul) where you’re mostly supposed to follow the minhag hamakom of the shul but please ask your LOR as to which minhagim should be applied when.

CS- any reason you didn’t answer RebYidd23’s question? Why davka the rebbe and not any other tzaddikim from the past?

Davening in front of a picture is assur. Chabadshluchah on the other thread said to be careful not to have a picture in front of people daving. No discrepancy between chabad and everyone else here.

Meno- A finger maintains its fingerprint regardless of whether it’s attached to the hand or not. While it’s sickening it’s not an unheard of trick for criminals to use.

A thin silicone print of the fingerprint would probably still trick the machine though.
