The Democratic Party isn’t relevant to you or your family. It’s ot relevant to the Jewish community. Although, if there was a different offshoot of the DNC that wasn’t woke, that’d be a different story.

Sephardim say it at the usual times as most Ashkenazim.

Hasidic Jewish community(s) might have more leeway in when they chose not to say it, but I am not a פוסק in this matter.

These are all interesting perspective(s). I will try to add my own.

During the Golden Age of Islam, there was a proliferation of philosophical ideas learned and taught in the Islamic world. It was influenced by things like Hellenism. But guess what? The Golden Age is long gone.. Today’s Islamism is not promoting the most Golden Age ideals…

It’s not like every country in the world has taken a 1-side stance in every conflict with actual involvement.

Now, as a Ukrainian Jew, I am interested in the welfare of other Ukrainian Jews, but I am also interested in the safety of all Jews including those in Russia and Iran…But whether each person takes a “side” is not relevant.

But with all of this being said, Putin’s actions aren’t justified in this case, and the backfire against Russia is going to seriously affect them.

The word “Tsholent” is a Yiddish word derivived from French: Chaud Lent.

    Chaud – Hot
    Lent – Slow

So “Hamim” is accurate noun to describe it
(assuming that “Chaud” is the noun with “Lent” as an adjective).

And @charliehall, that would actually be a good joke.

I think the author was actually talking about those legally identified as “Israeli” which would include those who move to Israel by just having a Jewish father. That could be a fair number of people. I would be less concerned about the fact that there are these types of people in Israel so long as they were more honest about it and perhaps even have a system that identifies them as separate from people who are Halachically Jewish.

Roe V. Wade was a case where Roe was told to lie about being forced to get pregnant (I’m being appropriate here). The actual person (Roe) regretted the whole court case later in life. The moral decline of America (in the area of taking a life) started because of dishonesty.

I can’t see how any Frum Yid could support the Pro-Abortion side of Roe V. Wade and all the issues it’s caused.

    I’m late on posting here.

YWN, back in 2018 posted this:

Israel: More Women Than Men Refuse Gitten, Shattering Stereotype

I may have not seen this thread when it was posted, but I was involved with a Beit Din case around this time. It turns out that the woman refused to show up in Beit Din and got her husband arrested. This PREVENTED him from giving a Get. Her motivation was that she hid a pregnancy from her husband and from the Beit Din. She gave birth to the kid before the session in Beit Din. She is the real Get refuser, but you don’t here the Feminists in ORA discussing such cases because it doesn’t fit with their Feminist agenda.

    To the original @techeles.

Moving to Canada isn’t a good idea for an American Jew unless he has a real reason too. There’s plenty of more Limud in Lakewood than Toronto. Many Torontons end up moving to Lakewood.

I do admit that American Jews don’t understand what it’s like to be a 2nd World country like Israel or let alone a conflict region since they are comfortable in a 1st World country. The same is true for Canadian Jews. Many Americans learn in Israel but then come back. I think someone should just find a place and stick to it.

    @charliehall
, in the time of Yithzak Rabin, there weren’t many advocates for an Arab State in Israel as there are today under the looney social justice warriors. So in today’s world, the card-carrying Right-Winger Netanyahu has had to at least claim to endorse some type of Arab state. It will be very strange to teach Israeli history…

I think the crisis people have isn’t a crisis in shidduchim but a crisis in society as a whole. Whether it’s how people look at finance or how people look at relationships as a whole. Western society is decaying.

Want to know more idealistic solutions:

    1. Not encourage women to pursue an education and instead, marry a man who has skills
    2. Not frown upon someone who learns and works (which many of our sages did)

P.S. Men tend to marry women their age or younger but rarely older.

The above 28 year old is exactly what I was saying about kollel culture and wanting girls with rich parents. This is an upside down understanding of limud hatorah. Our sages learned without this “system”.

Also, I come from an environment were both men and women had to figure out their lives at a younger age. FFB communities with such a problem is a result of a failed culture. However, I don’t know if every community in the frum world is like this.

As a late 20’s single who is still in the פרשה of שידוכים, I can say the following:

    1. I admit to have been more picky that needed.

    2. I have been told that because of my B”T background, some parents were skeptical of me dating their daughters.

    3. I was told that I’d find better learning and dating opportunities in Israel.

    4. Paying for a dating site means nothing since you have no way of knowing if you’ll actually get anywhere. Having a resume/profile is good enough.

    1. Trump was the best for Israel.

    2. Joe isn’t really mentally there, so his policies could be dictated by a secular, Left-Wing, San Fransicko nutcase who inter-married a non-observant Jew. That Yid doesn’t have a strong Jewish identity. The so-called “Jews” that will be in the Biden/Harris administration are likely to be relatively worse than their Trump/Pence counter-parts.

    3. I would be less skeptical of the Biden/Harris administration if it did NOT overturn any of Trump’s policies that made it easier for Israel. For example, if they didn’t move the embassy to Tel Aviv or denounce the Golan, then I wouldn’t be as critical. However, Israel is also affected by other countries, and if they turn a blind-eye on Shia-Islamist Iran, that could be a problem for Israel as well. It would also be an issue for the Gulf Arab states too. It’s all a big chess game.
