commonsenseParticipant
what kind of sem are you looking for, there are also BYA, Machon and a few others. There is a new Sem opening next year that does college along with Sem and there is R’ Bulksa’s which does the same.
commonsenseParticipantwhy don’t you try to pick out a small part of davening to start with and just say that. something like Brachos and Shema. When that becomes normal then add pieces.
commonsenseParticipantI will give the mods the number but to be honest I would wait until after yom tov to contact anyone about next year. the year is just starting and I am pretty sure that all the schools are focusing on getting started now and are not thinking about next year yet.
commonsenseParticipanttry the cakerie.. She has beautiful miniatures at a very reasonable price and they are homemade, delicious and look really nice. the number is 718-436-6498. She also makes log cakes with matching miniatures for a very good price. Mazel Tov!
commonsenseParticipantis this for this year or for next. I don’t feel comfortable posting phone numbers in public but I can give the number for Bnos Chaim to the mods to send to you if you want. I do not know why you have trouble gettng through it is usually easy to get ahold of someone.
commonsenseParticipantthanx the realmgama.
commonsenseParticipanthow do you check your profile?
commonsenseParticipantMy kids found cute lesportsac imitations in kmart of all places. Kohl is also another good place for cheap cute choices.
September 5, 2011 5:54 am at 5:54 am in reply to: Does Anyone Else Find This Short Story Disturbing? #840650commonsenseParticipantdo the people on the block even know that they moved in? maybe the people who saw them on Shabbos thought they were just passing through. I live in Kensington and we are excited when we get new frum neighbors but sometimes people move in to basements or attics as tennants and to be honest i have no idea that they even moved in for a long time.
commonsenseParticipantno one could have attended because it is a brand new seminary opening this year. I believe it is named after R’ Chaim Shmelter zt”l from Telz. From what I have heard they are trying to give the girls a similar year to the Israeli sems. They are supposed to have amazing teachers and an excellent program.
commonsenseParticipantI know of a girl named Yentel whose mother gave the name Naomi because she also heard that it comes from the French gentille and translated that as na’im which led to the name Naomi.
commonsenseParticipantnever heard the term hairy, it sounds a little like the term greasy.
commonsenseParticipantronsr, i hope you have bluetooth or else if you have no power you have no email.
commonsenseParticipantI can do it too punchanellow funny fellow….
commonsenseParticipantLook in a different area. The area you want is in the heart of Boro Park and apts like the one you are looking for go for premium prices. Go to the outskirts of BP and it should be much cheaper.
commonsenseParticipantMs. critique, there are still families of 12 kids staying in 2 bedroom bungalows and until a few years ago i know of a family of 11 kids that had a one bedroom bungalow. On the few occasions that everyone was home I know of one family where the older boys slept outside on lounge chairs.
commonsenseParticipantBayit Vegan in Ellenville. TRT in Ferndale, Cutlers in South Fallsburg. Greewald’s in Greenfield Park (but it’s a very small colony).
commonsenseParticipantyou are still supporting yidden when you buy non jewish brands because they are paying for a hechsher so that we will eat it. so eat and enjoy!
August 17, 2011 7:33 pm at 7:33 pm in reply to: "going rate" for bar mitzvah & wedding gifts #799037commonsenseParticipantthere are circles that give $250 for bar mitzva and some that give $18, it really depends on where you are.
August 17, 2011 4:42 am at 4:42 am in reply to: Is there any hotel besides Raleigh doing Shabbos this week? #798268commonsenseParticipanti think The Chalet is open the whole summer.
commonsenseParticipanti don’t know if you would feel the same if you were here. We can’t walk outside without getting wet and dirty. People keep slipping in the mud and getting totally filthy. It’s so much fall trudging through the mud to wash the wet muddy smelly laundry. Rain is a brocha when it is needed, I’m not so sure being inundated with continuous rain when it has no where to go because the ground is so sodden that it just sits there is considered gishmei brocha.
August 17, 2011 4:32 am at 4:32 am in reply to: "going rate" for bar mitzvah & wedding gifts #799029commonsenseParticipantdepends where you are and your circles
commonsenseParticipantyou don’t say where the wedding will be, which city state, etc. In Chaim Berlin it is much less than $65 a couple, it is about $45 and the hall holds many more that 100. However it is usually used for bar mitzvos. There are a few halls in Brooklyn where you can make a wedding relatively inexpensively. Try Sason v’simcha on Coney Island ave, Torah V’yirah on Fort hamilton ave. In Lakewood you can try Bais Faiga. Hatzlocha Rabbah!
commonsenseParticipantthe question is why don’t we all get up and say let’s not do all this unimportant stuff right now and redesignate the money where it will actually make a difference. There are many of us suffering because of the economy and watching money being flushed is painful.
commonsenseParticipantcoffee to me that is a very new car. enjoy it immensely!
commonsenseParticipantif you pick up one of the tourist books that gives lists of things to do (available at test areas on the highway or at tourist info), there is a woman who gives private tours of the Amish. If you have room a tour guide will come in your car and take you to private homes etc. It was the best Amish experience we could find. We tried a horse and buggy ride but it was costly and did not do anything but drive over the same roads we were driving in the car. (we tried cherry crest but it wasn’t open for the season yet when we went (late June). Hershey’s was amazing!!!!! (and I’m the mother, not the kids)
commonsenseParticipantwhere are you located?
commonsenseParticipanti think you’re a little bit late making plans
commonsenseParticipantky, some people are like that, just wait a bit and you should be able to eat more later, if not than tomorrow.
commonsenseParticipanthair spray and alcohol also get out permanent ink. Also the dry cleaners have something that gets out ink you can’t tell it was ever there.
commonsenseParticipantI remember a song that went My name is Michael, I got a nickel….. but it is not the tune of Omdos Hayu
August 3, 2011 6:22 pm at 6:22 pm in reply to: Driving Vacation from Catskills with Children #793976commonsenseParticipantNiagra Falls is about 6 hours away. Lake George is a great place with loads to do and is about 2 hours away but don’t go in the nine days. Jimini Peak (I’m not sure how to spell it) is a great trip and is also about 2 hours away.
commonsenseParticipantI agree with golden mom. I also didn’t like the idea until i actually went. i probably would not go on Pesach but the rest of the year I do. It is like an indoor play place that also sells food. The food is not an ikur there.
commonsenseParticipantI voted for MCcain and i only regret that he did not win. You want to know concrete things that make Obama a disaster, try the national debt, try the stimulus, try unemployment. there was a recent study that showed that every job created by stimulus money cost about $300,000. He could have given each of those people $100,000 maybe they would have started businesses and hired other people creating new jobs and in the process saved us tax payers 2/3 of the money. Now Obama has noticed that the country is deep in the hole and wants us tax payers to pay more taxes to replace what he threw away. 47% of people in the US do not pay taxes! Obama makes it so easy to live off the gov’t and there is absolutely no incentive to go to work. Every way he wants to raise money is on the backs of the 53% of the people who actually pay taxes. The reason many people still like Obama is because he keeps giving them more money. This country came very close to going over the edge and has a long way to go for financial health and with Obama at the helm I’m afraid for the patient.
commonsenseParticipantthere are people lined up for these day camp jobs. I know of at least 2 people who offered to give the camp the money to pay their daughters so their daughters would think they have jobs. There was nothing wrong with these girls just there were no jobs available.
commonsenseParticipantI don’t know why you think you are allowed to not pay because there is no one there to take money. I’m pretty sure that according to halacha that is considered genieva.
July 25, 2011 8:30 am at 8:30 am in reply to: Why do I feel like I am still trying to Prove Myself to them? #789459commonsenseParticipantalways, instead of trying to hide your past, be proud! You have accomplished an amazing feat and you should boast rather than try to hide! I am an FFB but it took me many many years to realize that even though I grew up in the same circles as those around me to some I will never measure up. I gave up on trying to and try to associate with people who don’t care about all the shtusim. There will always be some people who will feel they are better, but I have discovered that there are really nice people who do not have a measuring tape when they interact with you and those people are much easier to be around. Choose your friends from those people and you will feel much better about yourself.
commonsenseParticipantbubbe maises are things like if you eat a watermelon seed you will grow a watermelon in your stomach.
commonsenseParticipanti love, the disease was set off before, because any sane person would have helped Leiby instead of abducting him. Why did he take him home instead of finding a phone and calling his mother? The search may have panicked him into action but he acted first by taking him instead of helping him.
commonsenseParticipantwe were told it was to the first 1000 customers per store. when we went around 8pm they had plenty cups but you had to pay if you wanted it. we ended up paying because i didn’t want to disappoint the kids and it is very hot out!
July 12, 2011 3:39 am at 3:39 am in reply to: Sheitels and cuts- quality and customer service #910768commonsenseParticipantof, do you mean Toni and her sister Maria? I use Maria and she is a doll! She will do whatever you want. She does not have a store front so you need to call her to pick up your wig and then she does it in your house.
commonsenseParticipantit could be that the pizza stores include the taxes in the price of the pizza.
July 5, 2011 11:45 pm at 11:45 pm in reply to: chosson inviting kallah to their own wedding #1030262commonsenseParticipantI don’t know about any inyan, but when I got married, back in the dark ages, many of us sent our chossonim and kallah’s invites.
commonsenseParticipantI am lazy to go get the recipes and type them, but if you want the toll house recipe or the neiman marcus recipe i can get them for you. Try googling them, I am sure they are online.
July 4, 2011 11:04 pm at 11:04 pm in reply to: Which is your favorite 99 cent store and why? #1016274commonsenseParticipantI don’t know where you live but dollar tree is a great!!! dollar store! If you are in Manhattan you have Jack’s which is also a great dollar store.
commonsenseParticipantwolf, i always thought your name was some yiddish version of Wolf.
commonsenseParticipantYoiSH!
commonsenseParticipantdo you know how i could find out some info?
commonsenseParticipantjust the title makes me jealous, enjoy!
commonsenseParticipantcharlie, how is it possible there are 200 kosher eateries in paris? I don’t think there are that many in NY.
