kapustaParticipant
coffee, I gather from your comments here that you know yossi z, kapusta, adorable, and a few others that slip my mind.
Whaaaat?! How did I end up on that list?
kapustaParticipantI don’t know about Halacha but I agree its the “right” thing to do. I’m betting someone saw you go back and I’m sure the cashier was impressed. Reading through it, I was.
Happy painting!
kapustaParticipantCoffee Rooom addiction can do that to you. Do you perhaps feel that you are not being productive during the day because you are constantly in the Coffee Room?
As far as the day to day productive, I’m okay. Its the bigger stuff…
kapustaParticipant“If I saw the right examples, probably. Judaism (Torah) itself is perfect, the problem is if its not represented the way its supposed to be.”
Suppose you saw the wrong examples, would you be drawn to the truth of Torah? Would you feel life w/o Judaism is empty or meaningless? Would another religion give you fulfillment? Would you even be looking for truth? Would life’s lessons make a difference?
I don’t know. Some people give me a very bad feeling about Judaism even now so if I was offered a life of (basically) doing as I pleased or being told I was headed to a big oven (c’v), well, which one would most people choose? But I will say this, I don’t know what my life would look like today without Yiddishkeit.
kapustaParticipantI know the source of the feelings. Its a combination of my personality and “type”, and feeling like I haven’t accomplished too much. And just feeling in general like a bit of an idiot who wants and tries but does nothing and just makes things more complicated…
I have also seen very clear Hashgacha in certain things so I know Hashem doesn’t hate me (if He did why would He bother?) but maybe hates me for what I’m doing. Its not one specific thing but like I said being a certain “type” and doing certain things and not doing others as a result.
Thanks to everyone who responded. You were a bigger help than you could know. Like I said earlier I rarely get like this but a few things happened all together and…
Toi, welcome to the CR.
kapustaParticipantGoq, if I can ask, are you from Chicago? Just cuz you also mentioned being a Cubs fan…
kapustaParticipantEveryone’s entitled to ‘down’ time (even a computer). It’s when it’s long term that is cause for concern. CHEER UP!
Want to live up to your name? Have any pick-me-ups? TIA
kapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantIf I saw the right examples, probably. Judaism (Torah) itself is perfect, the problem is if its not represented the way its supposed to be.
kapustaParticipantA fan is good to circulate air, not make it cooler. On a cool day, with an open window, a fan would make sense. On a hot day, its a great way to stay hot.

It doesn’t need to be expensive but it says someone remembered they were making a Simcha and wanted to help out.
kapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantQueens?
Also if you have family and friends then ask them if they can spread the word that you’re looking and to check Shul bulletin boards and any local magazines that may have classifieds. You can also check luach.com
Good luck!
kapustaParticipantof the 451 deletes 449 were deleted by me before I retired and the other two were at your own request… :o)
You’re so accommodating… ?
kapustaParticipantWhen your neighbor loses his job its a recession. When you lose your job its a depression.
If your fone doesnt ring, it’s me.
Please explain.
kapustaParticipantI know I have a few deleted posts because I’ve asked to have a few deleted, but I don’t think I have too many.
I thought the same thing. Looks like I was wrong.
And I thought most of my stuff wasn’t so bad… *sniffle*

kapustaParticipantI would be very uncomfortable if a man would tell me something relating to tznius. As goldenkint said above, maybe writing it down would be a good solution.
kapustaParticipantkapusta: I don’t know if you know me. I don’t always post but no, I didn’t take a break from the cr.
Oh, well. It was fun almost figuring you out.
🙂
kapustaParticipantkapustaParticipantMany people say that. Its good to be a little nervous but that doesn’t mean you shouldn’t do it at all. Do it at your own pace, even if it means just going straight down a quiet street in the beginning. There are plenty of people out there who can’t do too much but can drive, you have no reason to think you’ll do any less than them. Keep your eyes set on the goal, not on the road to get there! (Well… you know what I mean.)
Hatzlacha!
kapustaParticipantIIRC, Rabbi Orlofsky once said some people go into a marriage expecting to give 50% and take 50% and wind up with 50%. Others walk in expecting to give 80 and take 20 and they both wind up with 100.
(That was the idea anyway.)

kapustaParticipantnottelling: Do I know you? (under your real SN)
And did you take a little break from the CR?
kapustaParticipantI remember paying for the subway with tokens.
I remember some other posts here. 😉
(I understand though.)
kapustaParticipantI know the feeling. But naturally some posts come right before or after a very exciting comment (very funny/something heated etc) or a very popular thread is keeping people busy so slowly they fall to the bottom of the page… There are also some comments that won’t get any responses because they don’t get anyone riled up enough to respond. As far as comments directed at specific people, I (don’t know about other people) only read the main CR page so if it “fell off” I probably wouldn’t notice it unless someone brought up the thread again.
I have no idea who you are. I hope I did not hurt you in any way, and I ask mechila if I did. IRL (and here) my personality is the “blend in” type. Its a little annoying sometimes, but ya learn to get over it 😉
(There are several posters here who I don’t remember ever acknowledging but I very much enjoy their posts. Just because a post didn’t “make waves” doesn’t mean it went unnoticed.)
kapustaParticipantgefen, actually not your comments. Its one thing to debate but that thread was just attacking back and forth.
kapustaParticipantIts amazing what Nissim can happen when we all work together.

rosesharon:
May your Tefillos be answered l’Tovah and may Hashem send all the Yeshuos you need (and all of Klal Yisrael) quickly and easily.
kapustaParticipantI’m also starting to get a little disgusted with certain comments.
Mods, maybe its time to close this thread?
kapustaParticipantI think a certain part of it comes from people who don’t want to say anything about themselves so if they ask you its a lot safer than maybe having to answer a question… And then there are some people who are just trying to make conversation…
(But I don’t like it either. Sometimes I’m convinced theres a machine asking the questions instead of a person.)
kapustaParticipantAnd the “black hat sheltered life” you derisively decry has a far lower otd rate that the non-black hat/sheltered.
Huh?!
kapustaParticipantadorable:
Firstly understand that you are completely normal. There is a reason doing Teshuva exists, if no one would need it, what would be the point?
I once heard (I have no idea where) a very nice concept. Every person has a rope connecting them to Hashem. Every time a person sins, the rope breaks a little until eventually it breaks. When a person does Teshuva, the rope gets knotted. When a rope is knotted, its shorter than the original length.
(I hope this is making sense.)
kapustaParticipantI personally always liked the “Jewish” themes for a Bas Mitzvah. Not forcing anything, but more than just an activity. Some people have challah baking which is nice, and I’ve heard of people who did projects to give to sick children…
Just my two cents.
kapustaParticipantWe should mention that rabbonim don’t wear skirts at all.
How bout the ones in Scotland?
(Am I thinking of the wrong place??)
